Play in Hood River during the day, relax in the country at night. We're 6.5 miles up in the hills, called High Prairie, above the sleepy town Lyle.
Enjoy the peace on our 5 acre hideaway, wake up with the chickens.
Take a walk to look at Mt. Adams which is just around the corner. Hiking, biking, kite boarding, windsurfing all within a few miles of reach with never ending opportunities to get your exercise. Just ask for tips.
The land has mostly Oak trees where you can take your nap in your hang matt. The place is easy accessible, far away from all but still close to all Gorge attractions during the day. The town has a nice little convenience store, country cafe, Chinese restaurant, and new to our town "Confluence Cafe" right at the entrance by the Klickitat River - Awesome views - yummy treats and coffee. Matt and Ali are super cool, go check it out.
Grocery shopping is best done in Hood River, White Salmon or
The Dalles. Once up here, there isn't much, so come prepared.

David’s property has all the amenities you need and nothing you don’t. Starlink, compost toilet outhouse, fire ring and picnic table. The quiet at night was incredible and helped foster a great nights sleep. There was a small hiccup on arrival (a tree had fallen across the driveway) but David was quick to reply and we were able to figure out a way in. Great spot for a little rest and relaxation!

1 night at Red Cloud Ranch
My wife and I only stayed one night in the “glamping pod with gorgeous views at Red Cloud Ranch” and the description and pictures are exactly as described on their Hipcamp listing. It was very cozy with a small heater and all the bedding you need. Shannon provided great directions and met us when we arrived, she was super nice and helpful. The drive to the property is pretty magical on a clear day with easterly views of Mt. Hood and cute black cows dotting the sides of their road. It wasn’t a problem for us but worth noting that there is 3-4 mile gravel and dirt road leading up to the property. Also, at the time of this review, there was no shower which we were aware of. If we were staying more than one night glamping, a shower would be a great addition. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay would definitely come back if we were in the area again!

Thanks so much for our stay at Camp Hardy. The directions were spot on and so easy to follow. The campsite was remote and so quiet. There was hiking near by and bunnies munching plants down the road.

Beautiful property with a nice mix of woods and clearings. Very quiet (you can hear road traffic occasionally, but it wasn't a big deal). There was one other camper on the property and I only saw them as they were leaving.
There are lots of primitive trails to explore and looks like there's a frisbee golf course in the works. The private porta-potty was clean and it was nice to have a well-water spigot nearby. The only minor quibble was there seemed to be some trash in the camp sites. I picked up around my site and added a few other bits from the neighboring site. Wasn't terrible, but it was noticeable. Remember to pick up after yourselves.
The burn ban was still in effect, so unfortunately no fires on this trip. Maybe next time. I'll plan on coming back later in the fall or early Spring.
Overall, it was a great weekend, and I do recommend it!

This is a great spot to camp at. We brought our little trailer and pulled up right to the platform area that was generous and size with a nice picnic table.. we had plenty of room in our campsite and the stargazing was amazing. It’s only 15 minutes outside of white salmon, making it a perfect home-base for activities that we wanted to do in the area. The host was super communicative and easy to deal with..

We really enjoyed this site! It was so very quiet and secluded. There are trails to explore. The town is close by for quick shopping. And best of all, no cell service until you’re a few miles off the property. Not a fan of Porta Potties, but I can assure you this was by far the cleanest one I’ve used in a very long time.
We were with my small breed puppy who loved the adventure. It’s very animal friendly there. There’s plenty of room to explore.

Camped here in Lyle 2 nights while visiting Hood River, Oregon during the WAAAN museum fly-in. Nice clean spot in the woods with oak, pine and fir. Nighttime crickets for a good nights sleep. Clean composting outhouse. (Not smelly!). Secure and undisturbed in the gated area.
Good views of the river canyons down to the Columbia.

This was a great spot, tucked away from town. We especially liked the great platform and easy access to the restroom and water. Lily was also super helpful when we had to cut our trip short unexpectedly. FYI for light sleepers, the crickets and/or frogs were very vocal! This wasn’t at all an issue for us, but fyi. Oh, and we had Verizon and T-mobile cells and didn’t have any service. The T-mobile folks could get it briefly if they walked a little ways up the hill. So be ready to truly go offline!

Elderberry flats was a lovely, secluded and clean site. It had a good mix of sun and shade. Plus it’s near the port-a-potty (very clean!) and spigot.
Lily was a very hands-off host, which we appreciated. Other campers were at the site near us, but we hardly saw them or heard them.
We tent camped in the meadow and it was lovely. Would stay again!
