He and his wife lived here for over 30 years and still have grandchildren living a few houses down from us. Upon meeting his granddaughter and hearing the story, we decided to honor him and his family by keeping the name. My wife and I have lived here since March 2020, and we are excited to share this little slice of heaven with our friends, family, and future guests. Learn more about this land: Welcome to Pleasant Acres where you will have access to over 7 acres located on the national scenic river, Big Darby Creek. We are centrally located and Less than 10 minutes from Plain City, Dublin, and Hilliard, and only 30 mins from downtown Columbus! A short drive or bike ride to any of these lovely Ohio towns will find you a plethora of bars, restaurants, and shopping. We are on a very quiet and serene piece of land 1 mile upstream from Prairie Oaks metro park. Prairie Oaks is home to miles of hiking trails and Darby Bend lakes which has four lakes, bathrooms, shelter houses, and one the best dog parks in central Ohio. Available activities include kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, axe throwing, volleyball, wildlife watching(there is a bald eagle nest just down stream), and more! More Detailed Description: Raven's Retreat is a beautiful, 58 acre property located in the Hocking Hills, 2 miles east of Laurelville, Oh. This land has remained mostly untouched and was purchased due to its resemblance to the deep woods of West Virginia, home to Raven's mother, Lisa Mahaney. The property is dear to us and we do everything we can to protect and maintain it in its natural state. It contains 4 creeks, hiking trails, a pond, and the top of a ridge. There are several endangered species including whippoorwills and two lined salamanders that reside at Raven's Retreat. There is an abundance of wildlife present due to keeping this property as wild as possible. While no hunting or fishing is allowed, wildlife viewing stations have been setup for guests to observe the creatures and we are working with local environmental specialists to ensure that we maintain a thriving, healthy place for them. We do our best to keep the human traffic on the property low but we want people to feel free to explore our challenging trails. There are about 2 miles of Hiking trails on the property that are not heavily traveled. The elevation change from the top of our ridge to the deepest part of our creek bed is over 220ft. If you plan to hike our trails, please keep strong scents such as perfumes to a minimum. This is often overlooked, but it can be confusing and disturb the wildlife. We greatly respect our water, and have natural springs here on the property. More important to us is that our guests have a quality experience rather than flooding the woods with a lot of people. If you want to venture out, there are also many famous parks with hiking trails in the area, such as Rock House, Conkles Hollow, and many other Hocking Hills State Parks. Quiet hours are to be honored and kept when the sun goes down. A respectful noise level is to be kept in consideration for our neighbors and nocturnal animals. 💡 Please note, we do consider the effects of light pollution and use particular lights to lessen our impact on the night creatures. Please do not bring your animals with you if you are staying at Pollinator Cabin here at Raven's Retreat. We love animals but in the past, domestic animals such as dogs and cats have attacked our wildlife more than once so we ask that they do not come with you to this particular space. Domestic animal friends are welcome to come to our campsites, but must be tied out or on a leash while at the campsites or while hiking through the woods. No domestic animals are permitted to be off a leash in the woods on the property. There are endangered species present here. Our space is for all peaceful people and we recommend the mentality of, "we're here together, so let's learn to live well together." We have been Vegan Lifestyle Coaches for years, known for introducing people to plant derived foods, so don't be surprised if we leave food out for you to try. While no hunting or fishing is allowed, wildlife viewing stations have been setup for guests to observe the creatures and we are working with local environmental specialists to ensure that we maintain a thriving, healthy place for them. We do our best to keep the human traffic on the property low but we want people to feel free to explore our challenging trails. There are about 2 miles of Hiking trails on the property that are not heavily traveled. The elevation change from the top of our ridge to the deepest part of our creek bed is over 220ft. If you plan to hike our trails, please keep strong scents such as perfumes to a minimum. This is often overlooked, but it can be confusing and disturb the wildlife. We greatly respect our water, and have natural springs here on the property. More important to us is that our guests have a quality experience rather than flooding the woods with a lot of people. If you want to venture out, there are also many famous parks with hiking trails in the area, such as Rock House, Conkles Hollow, and many other Hocking Hills State Parks. Quiet hours are to be honored and kept when the sun goes down. A respectful noise level is to be kept in consideration for our neighbors and nocturnal animals. 💡 Please note, we do consider the effects of light pollution and use particular lights to lessen our impact on the night creatures. Please do not bring your animals with you if you are staying at Pollinator Cabin here at Raven's Retreat. We love animals but in the past, domestic animals such as dogs and cats have attacked our wildlife more than once so we ask that they do not come with you to this particular space. Domestic animal friends are welcome to come to our campsites, but must be tied out or on a leash while at the campsites or while hiking through the woods. No domestic animals are permitted to be off a leash in the woods on the property. There are endangered species present here. Our space is for all peaceful people and we recommend the mentality of, "we're here together, so let's learn to live well together." We have been Vegan Lifestyle Coaches for years, known for introducing people to plant derived foods, so don't be surprised if we leave food out for you to try. The Rattle Snake Creek boat ramp is only 1 mile from the property. Perfect for fishing (either by boat or shore) and recreational water sports. Likewise, the property is just minutes from public hunting. As a bonus, Rocky Fork lake is only a quick 15 minute drive. The property is in the middle of an Amish/Mennonite community, so you'll be able get your fresh produce and other delights as well.

This property was first established in 1976, and the original owner named the property “Pleasant Acres”. He and his wife lived here for over 30 years and still have grandchildren living a few houses down from us. Upon meeting his granddaughter and hearing the story, we decided to honor him and his family by keeping the name. My wife and I have lived here since March 2020, and we are excited to share this little slice of heaven with our friends, family, and future guests. Learn more about this land: Welcome to Pleasant Acres where you will have access to over 7 acres located on the national scenic river, Big Darby Creek. We are centrally located and Less than 10 minutes from Plain City, Dublin, and Hilliard, and only 30 mins from downtown Columbus! A short drive or bike ride to any of these lovely Ohio towns will find you a plethora of bars, restaurants, and shopping. We are on a very quiet and serene piece of land 1 mile upstream from Prairie Oaks metro park. Prairie Oaks is home to miles of hiking trails and Darby Bend lakes which has four lakes, bathrooms, shelter houses, and one the best dog parks in central Ohio. Available activities include kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, axe throwing, volleyball, wildlife watching(there is a bald eagle nest just down stream), and more! Boat and axe rental, shuttle service (availability based on our availability to do so. please ask when booking.), and firewood bundles are available.
