Our road is part of the North Country Trail, a footpath stretching over 4,600 miles from Middlebury in central Vermont to Lake Sakakawea State Park in central North Dakota. While tearing down the existing house, we constructed two bedrooms in the pole barn for a quick living space. Once settled in the pole barn, we a built a small log cabin with already felled timbers from the local woods, except for the box frame which was purchased from the local Amish. Prior to building our permanent log cabin home, this small cabin was our camp site and is now being rented to people that want to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Learn more about this land: Our little slice of heaven is nestled back off the country road- with over 30 acres, we have a couple of old horse pastures and barns, a beautiful grassy area that has a large fire pit and a natural pond. Some wood is provided for your initial fire; more can be purchased from us for $5 per bundle. We have basic electricity, a country swing, a dock if you would like to fish- we also have nice grassy walking paths and a wooded area as well. Our land is very peaceful and safe. The perfect space to unplug and unwind and to recharge yourself. While we do only consider our space one site, it is large enough for groups as big as 30 ppl, with plenty of room to set up tents in your desired areas. We had a great time in early November car camping at our site. Woke up in the morning to see a herd of bison graising basically right outside our car. Was easy to find and get too, even had a solar light marking the spot. The grass road could be a bit hard to get over if too muddy or snowy but we made it fine even with slightly bald tires. Not a ton of commotion out there either so it was nice and peaceful. Would recommend!

I'm a seasoned, rustic camper & decided on a spontaneous, last minute weekend away & came across Way Way Back & their Bell Tent. Knowing it was going to be a beautiful day Saturday, but rain Saturday night & Sunday, I didn't want to waste the weekend. But not having to take down a wet tent & pack wet gear, that sounded wonderful. Wonderful is exactly what it was. I got there later than expected Friday night & it was pitch dark. Jeremy was in contact with me during my drive down & told me to message him when I was close so he could lead me to the tent. Unfortunately I didn't have cell signal as soon as I was about 1.5 mile away, but I stopped at the house & he led the way. Was I ever happy that he did, daylight wouldn't have been difficult. I was delighted to discover that I was the 1st guest of the Bell Tent & was it ever cozy. I lit a fire, got situated, then slept luke a baby. When I woke the next morning to a breathtaking view of the fields & woodsnext to me, I was very excited. My dogs lived it too, 15 yr old Maggie decided to wander into the woods to discover a nlce little river, he favorite. To my surprise she was sharing a drink with beautiful doe only 5 ft from her. Only wish ai had my camera to catch that special moment. Zowie and I walked up about 10 ft away & just watched for a few moments before she wandered off. I can't wait to go back!!

We loved Kathy's place, the small cabin is surrounded by trees. The lake is close and had a very nice view, there are trails for hiking. Our stay was quiet and relaxed and that was exactly what we were looking for. Thank you.

Weekend Trip to McCormick Artisans Woods/River

This overnight worked great for us. The little compound was beautifully planned and built and very accommodating - creative details everywhere, a firepit with cooking grate, a little roof over the bench by the fire, dry firewood. I liked the the little building with the sleeping berths so much I'm thinking about building one myself. The hosts were super nice, interesting people and I enjoyed getting to know them. I hope to be back.

Molly and Kevin were nice host, checked in on us via the hipcamp app and made sure we didn't need anything. They have a beautiful landscape for camping and any other family event. It was nice and spacious plus the star view was awesome at night and they also have a nice trail that leads back to more wide open land and a pond for fishing.

I loved tent camping on Josh’s land! Very nice spot for hammocking and nice river access! The property is very well kept! Josh was very kind and made us feel welcome.

Site # 2 is about half way down the pond from the main house. A dock, suitable for sunbathing, picnicking or fishing is just steps away from this site.

Weekend Trip to Treasure Hunt Treehouse

1st let me say, that treehouse was not what we expected. Huge size, very spacious and fully accommodating. We didn't need anything. A perfect host. To be surrounded by woodlands, we didn't get harrassed by many bugs and true to word, that port-a-john was immaculate. My new husband and I had the best honeymoon. The tree house was right above the road and you'd think the traffic would be a bother, but it wasn't and in the treehouse you only heard the wind, the tree, and acorns being thrown by squirrels. Peaceful & natural. Sam was a pleasure to meet and bond with. Very friendly and even asked if we need anything from the store on her way home. She's a true Gem. The beds in the treehouse were spacious and comfortable. Very cozy. We will be returning.

This is the view from your tent on Site #3! Please remember that chickens and wildlife wake up very early! I personally find that alarm clock very endearing ~ even on the weekend. You know what they say about the early bird! ;-)

This camping property was beyond incredible! From the moment we arrived, Robyn’s kindness and warmth made the entire experience unforgettable. When we realized our initial site was closer to the house than we expected, she didn’t hesitate to help. She immediately offered us a more private, supported site, making sure we were completely comfortable. Robyn truly went above and beyond—she brought us fresh eggs, got us worms for fishing, let us use the paddle boat, and even personally drove us to go kayaking down the river! She was so thoughtful, sweet, and accommodating every step of the way. Her genuine care and hospitality made our trip so special. We felt so welcomed the entire time, and we definitely plan on coming back. This place, and Robyn, are simply the best!
