Nice property, right off of the towpath. I did an overnighter on my bike, this place was perfect for that. It's a short ride into town for restaurants. Also Joe was super nice, very knowledgeable about history of the local area and his property specifically.

Weekend Trip to McKee Farm - Treehouses and Camping

We absolutely LOVED the tree house!! It was beautifully crafted and decorated, comfy beds, clean bedding and an adorable place. The middle deck was perfect for the rainy weather. The lofts were easy to get in and stand up in. There's a creek in the back that our pups adored. We will definitely be coming back with our kiddos next time!!

This spring break was my first with my two kids (ages 8 and 12) since they moved away, and the Treehouse in Tullihas was exactly what we needed. It gave us a peaceful, off-grid space to reconnect, unwind, and enjoy each other’s company without distractions. The location is beautiful, with scenic views, rolling hills, and nature all around. We loved hiking, sitting around the campfire at night, and taking in the stillness. It felt like time slowed down in all the best ways. The hosts were incredibly kind and thoughtful, checking in to make sure we had everything we needed while still giving us space to enjoy our stay. 2 nights at McKee Farm - Treehouses and Camping

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Tullihas in the Trees. Our group of seven (two adults and five kids, ages 10-15) visited in March, and even though it was chilly at night (30 degrees! 🥶), the propane heater kept the chill off. The treehouse was a little snug for all of us to sleep inside, but we made it work. 😁 The kids kept mentioning how thankful they were for a break from internet access and a chance to connect. The location is beautiful, with a creek nearby, plenty of hiking opportunities. There is parking next to the treehouse to easily unload our stuff. One of the highlights was meeting Carol, the owner, who made it possible for us to visit and feed the horse and goats! We made so many great memories and are already looking forward to our next visit! 🌿🌲🏕️

Weekend Trip to Towpath Trail Peace Park

Joe was very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the areas history, which was very interesting to learn about. The campsite was well maintained and thoughtfully laid out. Campsites are extremely close to towpath access (basically next to it) and close by to the river so you do not have to go far for outdoor recreation. Will be back soon!

3 nights at Kim Tam Park at Melanie Springs

Despire typically not being open during the winter, the hosts went out of their way to accommodate us for a winter camping trip. The camp was nice and clean, although a bit muddy. What are you going to do though? Its winter, its always muddy no matter where you go. I bet it would be a blast to come back during the summer - swim in the lake, enjoy the facilities to their fullest. The hosts are good fun as well. We enjoyed some brief, yet fun conversation. They were very responsive and flexible as well. If we needed something, we got a response ASAP. If you're looking for a winter Hip Camp all to yourself, message the hosts and see if it's the right fit for you! We had a blast.

Beautiful place to stay! Feels like you’re in the middle of no where but also close enough to things if you need it. We intentionally picked a chilly time to go camping and the heater inside the tent works wonders!! It literally heated up the entire place in minutes. There’s also a cute neighbor dog who may come and greet you in the morning/afternoons so that was a bonus! Thank you Shane and Nathan!

Jim's place was super cute! Our site (site #8) was really close to the home, but we still felt like we had privacy. We also felt super welcome to explore the land and come and go as we pleased. We stayed on a cold night and have a fully sheltered restroom so close to the site was lovely. We'd definitely stay here again!

We've had guests set up a tent on the deck beside the treehouse for fun! Swings, and a slide make the Oxley a fun adventure. The double bed in the loft and the two stacked single beds are comfortable and cozy. The McKee Farmhouse was built in the 1800s and is rich in memories. It's a rustic old house, with wood trim, hardwood floors, and plenty of imperfections that make it unique. You can sit on the porch and drink your coffee with a view of the barn and pastures, or cozy up in one of the house's four bedrooms and sleep in. The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time. Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table. Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Guests can hike with views of horses, cows, wildlife, corn fields, large boulders, and rustic barns. The dirt roads provide great places to drive ATVs and four-wheelers. An Amish farm borders McKee Farm. Guests should know there is minimal cell service, however, this can offer a great opportunity to unplug. Tullihas in the Trees provides a perfect remote and rustic getaway for anyone. In October and November, access to hiking is limited.

Edge of the Ledge Camp is a 4 site primitive campground on 6 acres encouraging the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace camping. The campground is located in a mature oak hardwood forest that offers bright light under a full forest canopy. In our many camping adventures over the years our favorite campgrounds were in our National Forests. We have built the campground with that "feel" of a forest experience. We provide a drinking water station, 2 clean portable restrooms and 2 gray water sinks. Our sites are widely spaced and offer considerable privacy. There is great scenic motor touring from Spring Mountain, the highest point in the county, across the Mohawk Dam, to riverside drives, scenic backroads and a ride across a covered bridge! Walk the forested blue loop nature trail on an adjoining 13 acres that loops through BIG trees and large rocks of glacial till under the shade of an ancient chestnut oak tree. The trail begins across the road opposite the campground driveway. Ticks, mosquitos and deer flies can be bad at times. Protect yourself! It is our hope that we all get to enjoy some time in the woods and teach each other a little bit more about lessening our footprint on our Earth. See us on Facebook at Edge of the Ledge Camp. Altering a site is not necessary. In popular areas: *Concentrate use on existing trails and campsites. *Walk single file in the middle of the trail, even when wet or muddy. *Keep campsites small. Focus activity in areas where vegetation is absent. In pristine areas: Disperse use to prevent the creation of campsites and trails. Avoid places where impacts are just beginning. Dispose of Waste Properly Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite, food preparation areas, and rest areas for trash or spilled foods. Pack out all trash, leftover food and litter. Utilize toilet facilities whenever possible. Otherwise, deposit solid human waste in catholes dug 6 to 8 inches deep, at least 200 feet from water, camp and trails. Cover and disguise the cathole when finished. Pack out toilet paper and hygiene products. To wash yourself or your dishes, carry water 200 feet away from streams or lakes and use small amounts of biodegradable soap. Scatter strained dishwater. Leave What You Find Preserve the past: examine, photograph, but do not touch cultural or historic structures and artifacts. Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects as you find them. Avoid introducing or transporting non-native species. Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches. Minimize Campfire Impacts Campfires can cause lasting impacts to the environment. Use a lightweight stove for cooking and enjoy a candle lantern for light. Where fires are permitted, use established fire rings, fire pans, or mound fires. Keep fires small. Only use down and dead wood from the ground that can be broken by hand. Burn all wood and coals to ash, put out campfires completely, then scatter cool ashes. Respect Wildlife Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach them. Never feed animals. Feeding wildlife damages their health, alters natural behaviors, [habituates them to humans], and exposes them to predators and other dangers. Protect wildlife and your food by storing rations and trash securely. Control pets at all times, or leave them at home. Avoid wildlife during sensitive times: mating, nesting, raising young, or winter. Be Considerate of Other Visitors Respect other visitors and protect the quality of their experience. Be courteous. Yield to other users on the trail. Step to the downhill side of the trail when encountering pack stock. Take breaks and camp away from trails and other visitors. Let nature's sounds prevail. Avoid loud voices and noises. These principles were established by the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, and built on work by the US Forest Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management in the mid 1980s.
