I started this 2 acre homestead earlier this year. It is home to myself, my three dogs, a couple ducks, turkeys, and a crap ton of chickens. I’m very close to all the creature comforts like Walmart and Target, but the property is wooded on three sides so you feel like you’ve gotten away from the city. There is a small creek my dogs love to play in and a large field for frisbee and star gazing. There are hikes close by at Little Turtle Pond and many restaurants within 10 minutes like Woodys, NauitiVine and Magic City Brewery. If you enjoy boating Nimistila Reservoir (electric only very kayak friendly) and Portage Lakes are a quick 12 minute drive. I look forward to meeting you soon!

In 1955 when my family bought our 180-acre farm, there were Shagbark Hickory trees lining both shores of a rock-filled stream. Years later a 550-acre lake was created from damming our stream and Hickory shores became the wildlife- filled headwaters. Bald Eagles, fox, river otters, ospreys, beaver, and deer are frequent visitors to our farm along with other water birds and wildlife.
Recreational opportunities are plentiful including fishing, paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking. The 50 mile Western Reserve Greenway paved bike trail is 1 1/2 miles away on country roads and other adjoining roads create unlimited quiet country rides and walks. In 2023 we have added a 3/4 mile wooded trail along the shores of Rock Creek with lookouts and 27 numbered stops. These stops are described in our Hickory Shores interpretive guide available at the trailhead. Additional hiking trails continue upstream and connect two seasonal waterfalls on the property. Benches along the way provide quiet spots to rest or picnic.
Spectacular sunsets, a quiet country paved road and Amish buggies await your visit. We are in Ashtabula County, home to 32 wineries and 19 covered bridges including the shortest and longest in the U.S. The second weekend in October brings the Covered Bridge Festival in nearby Jefferson, Ohio. We are conveniently located south of Lake Erie and 16 miles east of Pymatuning Reservoir for additional recreational opportunities.
We currently offer 2 campsites, and both are conveniently located near a cottage style bathroom which features a flush toilet and shower. The electric site provides a 30 amps connection and a hook-up to water if desired.
Each site has a campfire ring with outdoor chairs. A redwood picnic table is located at each site. An outdoor utility sink is also provided for dishwashing and can be found outside the bathhouse. Abundant firewood is available for $5.00 a wheelbarrow. (Honor system). If you are bringing dogs, please be aware that Sunny the inside/outside cat may greet you (he loves to say hello). For his safety and the safety of your pet, please keep dogs leashed.

Hello, this is 22 acres of no frills undeveloped land with beautiful Arcola Creek that runs into Lake Erie. There's room for an RV or can pitch a tent. Enjoy Arcola Creek Estuary a mile away, bird watching, multiple wineries, covered bridges, Geneva on the Lake or enjoy all day by the creek. There is a perfect spot with a fire pit. (Firewood provided-please leave some for the next camper if early in the week.)
There are rough trails in the back where the land was logged. There is not a bridge currently but can be accessed easily when the water level is low. Please limit guests to 6 or less people. Land is not perfectly level. Although neighbors are some distance away I asked that noise levels are low after 10.
Facts & History:: Arcola creek runs into an estuary. Its one of the last remaining natural estuaries in Ohio. Steelhead trout spawn and migratory birds find shelter here.
The creek was used by Native Americans and the area was instrumental for its role in the Underground Railroad for escaped slaves that boarded ships (at the end of the Dock Rd) on their way to Canada.
The town of Ellensburg was built at the junction of Arcola Creek and Lake Erie. It was a thriving community of ship builders, fishermen and commerce. Arcole Iron Works was located south of the mouth of the creek (then called Cunningham Creek after Captain John Cunningham who purchased property there in the early 1800s). Arcole Iron Works was, at one time, the largest industry in Ohio. Bog iron, discovered in Madison Township near North Ridge Road in 1812, and the abundance of timber provided the raw materials for iron furnaces. Iron stoves, kettles, hollowware and other heavy castings were made at the foundry.

I had a nice hot tent solo camp by the creek. There was wood supplied by Craig in my short notice of booking the site. The site is tucked away on the bank of the creek with plenty of flat areas to pitch a tent and great views and sounds of the creek. I post my stays at Get Livin Outdoors on YouTube. Yes you park close to your truck or car. The site was private and peaceful. I definitely would return again.

Craig's Hipcamp property was amazing! Had such a great relaxing 2-night stay. Beautiful Fall weather and nice scenic creek and wooded views, lots of wood available too. Craig was a great host, very communicative and accommodating. No issues with road noise, occasional traffic during the day mainly while we were there but nothing that took away from the experience at all. The road was a bit of a distance away and over a small incline, not in direct view of camp area by the creek. You don't feel like you are close to the other houses here on this large acreage, it felt extremely private and secluded. Would definitely recommend this property, I plan on coming back!

Awesome, peaceful scenery! This spot has a real charm to it,:and as soon as you cross that Red, Metal bridge...it's like your in another world altogether. If you need to get away and clear your head, this is definitely your place!

Nice primitive spot along Arcola Creek. For those who don’t know the area, this is a two minute drive to the lake and Arcola Creek Park, which is definitely worth checking out, along with the numerous other parks and beaches that dot the Lake Erie coastline in either direction.
Route 20 with all the amenities one would need is less than 10 minutes away, including a super Walmart.

What a great spot! We didn’t originally anticipate stopping in Akron, but wanted to spend a day at CVNP, so when we found Blackberry Campsite we decided to camp there for a couple nights. It’s a great lil wooded area right in town, you can’t beat the location for convenience and it was as quiet as if you’re deep in the woods. Hannah was an excellent host and responded immediately with anything we needed. Saving this location!

Craig was responsive and helpful. He is still working on making the spot what he wants it to be, but it's a simple and lovely stop in its current state. The camping spot is right along a creek, with chairs, table, fire pit and wood provided. It is close to the road, but you're low enough to not see cars. I would stay again, especially if I was spending the day at the beach or Geneva on the Lake. It is conveniently so close, without the busyness and noise.

Craig was extremely responsive. I had a problem with the google directions he initially had plugged in so texted him. Within 1 minute he replied back with an address. He was very welcoming to his property and said there was a camper there, but I'd have the place to myself.
The Geneva Breakwater Beach is only a FIVE minute drive away and the strip is another 5 minutes!
It's a neat piece of land on a creek, to enjoy. It is right on a kind of busy road but traffic seemed to slow a bit after 6 PM.
The only thing it could use is a port-a-potty but for the price, you can't complain.

For those that can't get by without a shower this is great. The basement level of the cabin has all the house essentials, but you still get to stay in a tent or rv for everything else associated with camping. Our dog enjoyed being off leash at the property and we loves being the only ones there.
