We bought this 125+ year old farm in 2010 with the hope of bringing it back to life. Overgrown and neglected, we have worked hard to make it a nice place for hiking, kayaking, fishing or any number of other activities. Peaceful and remote, the property has a beautiful brook that leads you to the South branch of the Portage river. Deer, turkey, geese, herons, mink and fox are just a few of our natural animal friends. Rusty the steer and his pony friends Lexi and Little Bits can be visited while they graze in the pasture or as they rest at the barn. There are chickens and Brindle the barn kitty. We have the perfect place for dogs as well. We have five dogs of our own that get along great with others and our fenced pond keeps them safe. We allow kayaking on the pond when our dogs are inside. But fishing has been restricted due to unfortunate incidents. Hiking trails, crisscross the properties on both sides of the road. We’ve added 8 acres across the creek to the south of the barn bringing our total to 16 acres for you to wander freely. The trails are being developed and some are dead ends. Be cautious to stay on the trails as there are many nasty plants off of the trails. No open toed shoes should be worn, as poison ivy as present pretty much everywhere. A guided tour is available when available. We also provide Firewood and kayaks and animal interactions for fees. ESV is help us pay for our animal upkeep, including food, Vet bills, and Ferrier fees. We appreciate all donations made to that cause. Our future development will include Rusty‘s Barn. Which will be a music/wedding venue. That would be located in the upstairs of the barn.

We are happy to help get your gear back to the cabins with the farm cart and then it is an 8-minute walk along a hay pasture to the parking area. Tent Camping Our tent camping spots are located under Mother Oak, a 100-year-old oak tree in the middle of our farm. With ample shade, a fire pit, and nearby portapotty, you can relax under the stars into the night. Hiking trails weave through the back of the property and you are welcome to explore those as well. Because we are a working homestead and farm, a few things are true: -Sometimes there’s mud. We suggest boots for walking around the property and in the woods. -Our farm animals are great - and may also bite. Please do not pet or chase them. We are happy to arrange opportunities to interact with the animals. Just ask! -Not always, but at times, our neighbors will start farming early in the morning and you can hear their machinery. All of our sites have privacy but are not truly remote. We want you to enjoy yourselves but please be mindful that our house is on the property as well as our neighbors. Music needs to be turned down to a low level by 11 PM. We can accommodate pop-up campers, camper vans, etc near Mother Oak as well. Please message with any questions before reserving. Additional fees would apply. We can also accommodate larger tent camping groups depending on the day. Additional fees would apply. The homestead is located near 58 so you can hear cars during the day and night. The cabins are about a ½ mile from the road so the noise is greatly reduced. A calm, safe space to park in a historic neighborhood that cares about the community. Located in the backyard of the property on 5th st, there is a fence and tall row of trees that separate one neighbor providing shade on the Lot, and a vacant Lot of land on the other side that provides quiet and fairly private space. Truly a wonderful campground! We were bummed the pool wasn’t open, but one of the fishing ponds provided us hours of entertainment. Showers and bathrooms were very clean and accessible. Many spots including ours (hillside #33) were nicely shaded. If you have kids, I recommend bringing bicycles and fishing gear!

Front desk was friendly and helpful. They had a shop at the front with snacks and merch. Bathrooms were clean, and showers had great water pressure and temp. The showers are a bit low, so if you're 6 ft you may have to crouch a bit. The place was quiet, with respectful neighbors. I had water and electric hookups, and it looked like there was a place for grey water disposal, but didn't use it this time. Also, it seemed like the pool was getting remodeled and could be cool feature to try in the future.

Took my mom out camping for mother's day and we both loved staying at Camp HiYo. It was quiet, short ride to town if you need anything. Staff were very friendly. Clean dog runs for your fur babies. Gold Coast was really nice there was loungers, picnic table, fire pit and a propane bbq. All concrete with a gravel pad. 10/10 will be back.

Really pretty, well taken care of place. Level site worth a wood deck. Host was helpful and friendly. Lots of permanent residents had really fun Halloween decorations. We thought we were getting away from the Interstate to a quieter spot but didn't realize that it was right of of a busy highway and there was a lot of truck noise. I used earplugs and it didn't bother me.

The camp was well maintained, the pool was pristine The grass campsite could have been a problem in rain you should make sure you have blocks. The shower area was absolutely fantastic. We will definitely stay there again. The cost was moderately priced

One of the best places I have stayed. Clean bathrooms and nice quiet atmosphere. This place had an event every night to enhance the family stay and make it great for everyone. We liked this campground so much we extended our stay! The property has 3 ponds and room to stroll and feels like you were away from folks. We had fun fishing in the ponds. The staff are great! If we lived in this part of the country, this would be one of our regulars.
