2 nights at The Camp Cabin at the Hallstead

The perfect place to take the children. Or to just get away by yourself or perhaps a romantic couple of days or book it , for your in-laws as a anniversary present. This place was clean quiet we had a really good time not far from a Walmart in case you forget supplies. The cabins absolutely beautiful like something from a scene from a TV show. The animals are cute we had a great time.

1 night at Hempstock Farm

Loved the land, happy there was shade on such a sunny day. Helpful host and loved seeing the lightning bugs and stars at night.

4 nights at Towpath Trail Peace Park

I appreciated Joe’s friendliness! It was nice to have a porter potty to use the restroom and a solar powered place to charge cellphones. I like the accessibility to the trail and Joe’s knowledge of the native Americans.

Weekend Trip to The Camp Cabin at the Hallstead

The Camp Cabin is absolutely fantastic! We camped during this weekend’s heat wave and while it was hot, we stayed relatively comfortable. The cabin is nestled beneath the trees and so even with just fans we slept well and even enjoyed a small fire at night. Our dogs loved the pond and talking walks around the large property. The basement bathroom is so nicely remodeled - it was almost nicer than ours at home! The goats are adorable and so friendly. We had fun sharing our lettuce with them and the little babies. The cabin itself has every amenity you could need. Donna even had a dispenser of water waiting for us. Tons of books, games, and puzzles. The pictures of the inside don’t show how roomy it really is. We can’t wait to come back and stay longer. Thank you Donna and Garry for creating such a heavenly oasis for us “city folk” to enjoy!

Weekend Trip to Blueberry Farm Campsites

We stayed up at the site near the shed. Both little camping areas were great, and they were tucked in the woods enough for privacy from people and other campers. The property itself is gorgeous. We spend a lot of time at and in the creek. It was very clean water and incredibly refreshing in the summer heat. The blueberries are divine!

1 night at The Turkey Hollow Campground

This was a cool spot! We stayed at the first site. There wasn’t anyone else there. Felt safe. There was some construction in the morning but it didn’t really bother us. The showers are open so you can’t shower unless you have a bathing suit or want to just rinse your feet or something. It was nice flat land. The pond was pretty but didn’t go in or near it really. Nice to have a place to throw garbage. Running water to wash dishes was nice. We didn’t drink the water but the construction workers were.

2 nights at Goat Farm Hide-Away CVNP

Allison and Ken were wonderful hosts and very accommodating. Their single site was perfect for our needs, and we loved spending time with the goats! Proximity to Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Cuyahoga Falls can't be beat. We'll be back!

Really enjoyed our time at the cabin! The hosts were fabulous, kind and friendly! The cabin was super cute, well decorated, and clean. It was our first “glamping” experience and the whole family had fun ☺️

2 nights at Goat Farm Hide-Away CVNP

This was the most family-friendly campsite we’ve encountered. Our young child loved the animals, and Allison even let him help cleanup and bottle-feed the babies. She was kind and patient with our child (and us). The site was incredibly quiet and clean, including the porta-potty and animal areas. We plan to make this a regular family trip. I can’t recommend it enough! Note: there are beehives behind the field. I’m allergic. We setup in front of the barn, near the baby goats, and didn’t see a single honeybee.

We enjoyed our stay. Weather was rainy so we didn’t have a campfire. However, everything was provided to do so. The cabin was nice and had a cozy feel. We would definitely visit again.

Weekend Trip to Camp near the Portage Lakes

We had a pleasant stay at the campsite. Check in was easy and Joe was there to meet us when we arrived. The grass in the campsite was long, which made using the campsite a little harder but it was manageable. As the host mentioned, this campsite is directly under a large set of power lines, so there is a slight humming noise most of the time you’re there but if that doesn’t bother you then this is a great place to stay! The driveway to get to the site is a grassy road, but access is easy enough. The site itself is somewhat isolated and quite large, with trees on the sides. Be aware that the site is mostly comprised of uneven ground so setting up a large tent could prove challenging, although we didn’t really run into any issues with the tent we have.

3 nights at The Turkey Hollow Campground

I had a class B Roadmaster camper van and being a newbie the hairpin turns going down the driveway to the campsite was scary for me (but that’s just me). Otherwise, I had a restful 3-day stay at Turkey Hollow. The shower was a hoot! Might I suggest a handle on the side of the tree for us seniors…lol 😁

2 nights at Barrel Run Creek

We absolutely loved our stay at this campsite! It was incredibly spacious, quiet, and peaceful, the perfect place to unwind. The site is right next to a beautiful little creek, and we even spotted a beaver twice during our stay, which was such a cool experience. There were so many amazing spots for hammocks, and we spent hours just relaxing and listening to the water. The campsite had everything we needed: firewood, a fire ring, picnic table, trash can, and even axe throwing! The bathrooms were just a short drive away and were super clean. Nick, the host, was so kind and accommodating. We felt really welcome and taken care of. I’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful nature escape.

Great spot and super close to Cuyahoga National Park. My kids loved interacting with the goats and other animals in the morning before we headed into the park.

Weekend Trip to Barrel Run Creek

The site was perfect for our weekend. The view of the creek was gorgeous and the tall trees kept everything covered and cool. The space was perfect for the two of us and our two dogs to enjoy being dogs. Plenty of wood and an axe to chop for firewood. It was truly perfect for us.

The primitive campground is in the corner of a small 40 acre farm owned by Matt Polcyn. He started the campground 8 years ago because of his love for nature and real camping. He enjoys traveling in many places in the States and the Caribbean islands and loves finding places off of the beaten path and not commercialized. Because of his interest and love for primitive camping he decided to open the campground in order to provide the same opportunity as a getaway primitive camping location that he tries to find when he travels. The Peace Park is designed for bikers, hikers, dog walkers, and anyone traveling through to book a campsite even if anyone isn't available to meet and greet. Campers, once booked may go to an available campsite and set up camp. Dog-friendly, handicapped-accessible Porta-Jon with hand sanitizer, shared electricity for charging phones, pristine aquifer water, picnic tables, fire pits, fire-side benches, birds, butterflies, lightning bugs, wild turkeys, deer, and other wildlife are often seen. Please note: We're located on a section of the Ohio-Erie Canal Scenic Byway, the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad, and a 90-degree corner with a slight slope that causes trucks to downshift brakes. If you're a light sleeper, we recommend bringing earplugs! We now offer disposable individual packaged earplugs in our Porta-Jon.

The Camp Cabin at the Hallstead

This small farm is 7 acres of the original 25 my great grandmother purchased for her family in 1934. Guests can enjoy the cabin as well as the barn, which has been converted to a rec area. Make our home and green space yours for a few days. Camp in comfort in our "little cabin in the woods." Accommodates up to six guests, with a queen-sized bed, a futon and two low single beds in the loft, accessible only by ladder. Kids 6 and older may sleep in the loft-- just like Laura and Mary-- and they can read a chapter of one of Laura Ingalls' "Little House" books before bed! The Camp Cabin contains a small refrigerator, microwave and gas fireplace (no, the pioneers didn’t have that!). Fresh eggs and other snacks are provided for breakfast. The restroom and shower are located in the walkout basement of the farmhouse, a 40 yard walk from the Cabin. The restroom has a private entrance and is used only by guests during their stay. Pet and feed goats and other farm animals. Enjoy fun activities on the farm and in the barn.

We have lived here since 2004, the blueberries have lived here for over 60 years. This site has more topography than most of the surrounding county. Learn more about this land: Several sites available on an organic blueberry farm near Oberlin College and Lake Erie. Blueberries are ripe in July. Site #2 is down by the Chance Creek, about 1/2 mile from the driveway. Very peaceful down there - a walk-in site. Site #1 is about 100 yards from the driveway, Site #1 also has access to a small shed. Both sites are woodsy and away from neighbors, roads and houses, however the interstate is not far. When the wind blows from the north you can barely hear it, but when a south wind blows and/or there is rain on the interstate, it can be pretty loud. We don't have a latrine. We have two "luggable-loo's" if you need them, have liners, too.

Very doable just depends on your preference.
