Probably one of the most beautiful spots we have camped at. Feels like the middle of nowhere, but is a short drive to Sparta, or independence. Halfway between Stone Mountain and Grayson highlands. Daughton park is 20 minutes away ( however the parkway was closed during our stay )

This was my second time at Jon’s property. This time I stayed in a different spot and the site was fabulous. Jon is a great hora and he also was waiting for me with firewood ready! The spot is wonderful and the view was incredible! It’s a perfect place to disconnect and relax. We had rain both nights for a few hours but we were ready for it and it wasn’t a problem at all. We can’t wait to get back again this summer!

We loved RV camping on Greg’s land. He’s got a professional layout with an amazing peaceful pair of sites that are perfect for creekside play and also relaxation if all you want is the sound of the creek. We had unobstructed line of sight for Starlink and found the 45 minute drive to Boone and Blowing Rock to be painless. Greg was accommodating and friendly yet he didn’t intrude. It’s great to have stayed with a host with RV experience and a gracious manner. Thank you!

Weekend Trip to Farmhouse Gallery & Gardens

We were warmly greeted when we arrived, and treated with kindness like old friends the entire weekend. It’s a beautiful location, with an idyllic lily pad pond and captivating serene spots to rest in every direction. The grass was cut nicely on our site, and to allow us easy hiking around the bison pasture and goats. Curious peacocks followed us about. The barn swallows swooped and stole goose feathers and blooming dandelion. And I witnessed a bison stampede, only so briefly, when I suspect they thought I was planning to feed them. After which they returned to peaceful grazing. I can’t say enough to share how much we enjoyed this retreat. Thank you Pat for sharing your Walden Pond with us.

1 night at Peak Creek RV Campground

We loved camping on Greg‘s land. He was gracious enough to upgrade us to site one which had a fabulous view of the creek below and was shielded from the road by a cute little barn. We spent one of our days up in Boone and Blowing Rock, which was about a 40 minute drive. We would highly recommend these sites, especially for a family or small group since there is lots of space available for the price.

3 nights at Greener Acres

The Glampsite is as beautifully situated with an expansive view, and as comfortable and as private and as well-supplied as the reviews and descriptions stated, and the port-o-john on-site and the bathroom down the hill are both immaculate. Brian was quickly responsive to our questions prior to our stay and Sarah greeted us warmly and with a thorough introduction to the site and the use of the Gator. Highly recommend!! And we anticipate returning again!

Oh my gosh! What a perfect, perfect place for us to stay at during Merlefest. Lance was super kind, helpful and informative. The field was spectacularly beautiful and peaceful. Minimal leveling needed for our 26' travel trailer. Easy access to our site. The tripod doggoe even stopped by to welcome us. And somehow, somehow, we managed to even get a doordash delivery in the middle of a field with no house number. Lol. We loved it here. Would def 10/10 recommend staying here for any event Wilkesboro'ish!!!

Wonderful , private site on a beautiful property. Janet and her husband greeted us when we arrived. We were in town for MerleFest so we didn’t get to spend much time at the campsite, but hopefully we will be back and can explore the property.

This site is amazing. You’re on top of the world and have a nearly 360 degree view. Jon is a great host and was very communicative. I opted for the firewood he provides and, it’s plenty for two nights and burned well. I’ll reiterate what others have said: you need AWD, at a minimum, but really 4WD to get to the site. The trail is washed out, rocky, and muddy. (I used 4LO to protect my car and the trail.) All in all, I’ll be back! This time I’m hoping it won’t rain my last night. I really wanted to sit by the fire one last night. But what can you do?

2 nights at Hidden River Experience

Enjoyed our stay here, great location. Close to town incase you need supplies. Host is fast at responding if there are any questions. Cell service can be touchy at times but great to disconnect for a while at the campsite. 10/10 will be coming back

The question Hipcamp asks is, "Would you recommend this to a friend." This puts me in tough dilemma. I mean, of course I think my friends should know about it. But I also want to keep this one to myself! This spot is wonderful! And it's proximity to some of the AT's most beautiful hiking makes it a prime location. Brian stopped by and greeted us when we set up, and then left us alone. The site and the amenities were pristine. It was easy to find, too.

Absolutely amazing spot. Plenty of room for tents and vehicles with nice flat land. Great place if you have dogs. River’s edge has some significant undercut from Hurricane Helene that makes river access a bit steep but give it some time and I’m sure the bank will soften itself out again. Such an amazing hidden gem. I’ll for sure come back to this spot in the future.

Learn more about this land:You’ll cross the covered bridge (clearance 11’6” ) as you enter our farm, a 73 acre small family farm, nestled in the Buffalo Valley of Northeast TN, and featuring a down home country atmosphere. We are a safe haven for animals and humans alike. Situated on and between two peaks of Little Phoenix Mountain range in Jefferson Ashe County. Our sites’ altitudes range from 3100 feet to over 3600 feet, which is a lot of slope and hillside to say the least. As a guest you will be offered insane long views and limited exposure to the oldest registered breed of bovine in the world. Our Scottish Highland Cattle are majestic and fit in quite well in the NC mountainside. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains, we have natural water springs popping out, some of which are tapped to drink from. (10.1.23 currently farm springs are not accessible to guests, shatley springs up the road approx 4miles north has a public spring that we highly recommend) If you are looking for a camping spot that is only 5-10 minutes from town (Jefferson NC or the quaint Downtown West Jefferson) but feels like you're in the middle of no where, then we have it! The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 20 minutes away and the New River equally close. Looking Forward: July update. We are currently working on provided an all downhill mountain bike trail from 3600 to 3150ft. This path will be double wide for the most part and wide open at first to soak in the se view. Will update when completed! *a ride back up for your bike and yourself will be scheduled if requested OnTopOfTheWorld.camp *firewood is available if you pay on site you will have to use Venmo/Paypal *We do not allow any harvesting of campfire wood or burning of our property outside of the designated fire ring. Within 5 minutes, you can be at Roan Mountain State Park or drive 5-10 minutes to hike the Appalachian Trail. Head up to Carvers Gap just below Roan Mountain High Knob where you can hop out and enjoy a short walk to a scenic view of both the TN and NC mountains or visit the famous Rhododendron Gardens in season. Campsite also boasts energizing, private hike up to Heaton Ridge. Want to spend the day kayaking or canoeing? Head to Wilbur Lake, about a 30 minute drive away from our campsite. Exploring Laura Falls is only a 20 minute drive away. Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, and Grandfather Mountain in N.C. are about 30-45 minutes away. The Smokey Mountains, Gatlinburg, and Dollywood are about a 2 hour drive through amazing mountain views. The annual Rhododendron Festival takes place minutes away. Supplies can be found at the state park camp store or in town at Redi-Mart or Dollar General. Water and showers are down by barn. A Gator is available for the duration of your stay. Please arrive before sundown so we can meet you the first time you stay to show you the way and make sure you are comfortable driving Gator. We will have you follow us up to the campsite and from there you can come and go and just leave the Gator by your car near the barn when you are out and about and when checking out. A small Bluetti power charging station will be available in the tent (for light charging of cell phones, other) which can be recharged by the barn if used heavily. A Coleman stove with a small propane tank, pots, a frying pan and utensils is also included in the site. Another small propane tank is provided for the radiator in the tent.

Wiseman Ridge Boutique RV Park

Wiseman Ridge is a boutique micro campground for RVs only, first opened in July of 2022. Our property adjoins the Blue Ridge Parkway in Linville Falls NC with easy access off NC 221. We offer 5 full hook up RV sites with views of Hawksbill, Table Rock and Humpback Mountains. Micro means we have only a handful of sites but that is where micro ends. Each site is expansive, with large areas to spread out and enjoy the views or play yard games. Unlike typical RV parks our sites are spread out on the ridge top and offer great views and lots of space. Our campground offers a unique camping experience for the RV and outdoors enthusiast. All of our RV sites feature views of the surrounding peaks and have full hook ups with, water, septic and 30 or 50 amp power access, high speed wi-fi access at each site as well as a picnic table and in ground fire pits. Wiseman Ridge provides the peace and quiet of nature at its finest, with easy direct access to the Blue Ridge Parkway by foot or by road. We are just a mile down the parkway from the entrance to the Linville Falls parking lot and picnic area, and 2 miles from Kistler Memorial Highway (Old NC 105) that provides access to the western rim of Linville Gorge and multiple trailheads. Our campground is for conventional travel trailers and motorhomes only. We do not have bathroom or bathhouse facilities so we cannot allow campers that do not have a self contained bathroom that can hook up to a conventional RV sewer drain and no human waste is allowed in our trash receptacles.
