Both domes can be booked individually or together (please see my other listings in my profile for availability). My goal is always to maximize privacy and I’ve worked hard to create guest seclusion and minimize visibility from the other dome. With that, the domes are separated by 150 feet but are connected via a staircase that has been built into the mountain. If another couple is staying in the other dome during your stay, it is likely that you may hear them during your stay. Finally, our ideal location and close proximity to Blowing Rock is a direct result of our proximity to NC 321. Guests should be aware that they may hear road noise. STEEP MOUNTAIN DRIVEWAY: Please note that the driveway to the TreePod is a mountain road that is ONLY accessible by AWD or 4x4. If you are not comfortable driving on gravel mountain roads, or do not have a 4x4 or AWD, you’re welcome to park at a dedicated space at the top of the driveway and take a 450’ hike to the dome. WINTER WEATHER: In the event of a winter weather during your stay you will be required to park at the top of the driveway regardless of what type of vehicle you arrive in. This does involve a short 350’ walk from that location to the GeoDome door. In general snow fall is light and usually melts the next day. HEATING/COOLING: The Treepod includes both heating and cooling as well as several space heaters and electric blankets. While we make every attempt to create a comfortable environment the domes are not insulated in the same way your home may be and does not heat and cool like a conventional home or apartment. We’ll provide the heated blankets, please bring plenty of warm clothing in the winter. PARKING: Parking is FREE and on Premises but we are only able to accommodate ONE vehicle during your stay. KITCHEN: During the winter months, the kitchen sink may be closed to prevent freezing pipes. If so, water is accessible in the fully functional and heated bathroom. As always, your welcome to use the grill with the supplied grilling tools for cooking. You’ll also find a French coffee press, water kettle, and coffee/creamer/sugar in the event that the Keurig is not available.

Weekend Trip to WindSong in the treetops/hot tub

Myself, boyfriend and two pups had the pleasure of staying at the Wind Song yurt this past weekend and it was absolutely amazing. Couldn’t have asked for anything better! The place was stunning, stocked for all needs and a great getaway. Jodee was great at communicating with any questions with incredible timing. Our absolutely wonderful 10 Wedding Anniversary stay at Magical Riverside Yurt by JoDee, was the getaway we needed. Laid back, private, peaceful and amazingly well stocked with almost everything you'd ever want. The coffee bar was amazing. Sitting in the hot tub while looking at the billions of stars with the full Milky Way overhead was epic. Our first time staying in a Yurt was a pleasure. I had no idea it would be so comfortable and accommodating. JoDee has I think 5 different properties to choose from. Make sure to check out this well deserved Super Host.

Weekend Trip to Magical Riverside Yurt w/hot tub

Stayed on a long weekend with my partner and our two dogs and can’t overstate what an amazing space Jodee has created. It delivered everything we were initially looking for: a great space for the dogs to run around and play, a creek to wade/fish, living amenities (kitchen, bathroom, ac/heat, bed), great views, and a place to unwind (hot tub/firepit/hammock). What we didn’t expect was how much attention to detail and well curated everything was in an unassuming yurt. Everything, from the arrangements of the stones in the firepit to the hippy decor, felt so well curated and thoughtfully put together. Throughout our stay we would find more little details that really just helped us fall more in love with the place. Jodee was a great host, available for anything we may have needed while we still had all the privacy we needed. If you’re looking for a relaxing/private outdoor space with all the amenities of an indoor space, then this is the place to be. We were absolutely enchanted by our stay and fully intend to spend another magical weekend here again. Tip: Renting the side by side is a fun way to explore the area! A lot of hilly backroads to ride along while seeing local wild life and neighborhoods. The best part was our big dogs were able to sit in the back and enjoy the ride after playing in the creek all day.

Weekend Trip to Mother Earth, hot tub, pet friendly

I booked mother Earth to celebrate a birthday and anniversary celebration. We could not have been any happier with the yurt. It had about anything that you could need. It was decorated in such a thoughtful and beautiful way. You could tell that a lot of thought and Care was put into the decorations. Everything was really clean when we got there. We were also pleasantly surprised that jodee put up a happy birthday banner for my boyfriend and also wrote a little sign for us. Wishing us a happy birthday/ anniversary. We would 100% book this again.

2 nights at Cozy Cabin w/Hot-Tub

Such lovely hosts and the views from their property will set your soul at rest. Everything from the tall trees that embrace the cabin to the beautiful songs of nature. Unfortunately the forecast had my husband and I in house slippers and napping during the entirety of our visit but it was exactly what we needed. The first morning we lost power but Greg was so kind to stop by and offer to pick us up some breakfast as he made his errands and Marsha kept us updated on things until the power was back on. The cabin was so clean with a relief to us as we don’t wear shoes inside and all of the linens, towels, throws etc were all perfectly clean as well. All the amenities were well provided and well thought out. This is the coziest place I’ve stayed through HipCamp and we can’t wait to come back to explore more of the area before snowfall.

The Barrel has an awesome view inside that window inside is amazing. As well as view from the hot tub and chairs outside. Only thing I would add is a grill or something to cook on other than that everything was perfect.

What a great spot for glamping! Super close to Blowing Rock and Boone and access to outdoor adventures. There is just something special about waking up to the sunrise and connecting with the outdoors without the hassel of packing a ton of gear for camping. The host was super responsive. Will definitely be staying here again!

Where to go

Stone Mountain State Park

Visit the 19th-century Hutchinson Homestead, hike 16 miles of trails, or rock climb the renowned 600-foot wide granite dome that gives Stone Mountain State Park its name. The park is roughly 30-minutes south of Sparta and features primitive hike-in campsites (accessed from Widow’s Creek Trail) as well as drive-in options. Every car-access campsite offers tent pads, picnic tables, and fire rings with grill tops. Some also have hookups for electricity and water. A communal dump station is free of charge for all campers.

Grayson Highlands State Park

Anglers will love the 10 miles of streams filled with rainbow trout in Grayson Highlands State Park, situated 30 minutes from Sparta. Book the bunkhouse for larger camping groups or one of four yurts with screen-covered windows and dome skylights. There are also plenty of traditional campsites with electricity and water hookups. Then spend the day mountain biking or searching for wild ponies—the trail to Wilburn Ridge is a top-pick for sightings. Hiking and cross country skiing are available in winter, offering beautiful views of the snow-covered landscape.

Linville Gorge Wilderness Area

Part of Pisgah National Forest, the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area has steep, rocky terrain that delivers incredible backcountry camping and gorgeous views. Often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of the East,” the landscape was formed by the Linville River, which carved out the gorge over thousands of years. Primitive campsites found here are pack-in and pack-out, with no amenities but tons of access to hiking trails and vistas. Wiseman’s View and the top of Table Rock Mountain are some of the best spots to take it all in.

When to go

Most campers flock to North Carolina in June, July, and August. For a quieter camping experience, visit right before summer begins in April and May, or as it ends in September and October. Temperatures stay relatively mild throughout the year, but Sparta does get snow in wintertime, with the highest amount of snowfall in February. If hiking is on the agenda, spring is the perfect time to catch blooming flowers, while fall showcases changing leaves.
