We just retired from Active Duty Air Force! My ancestors have owned the land our NC cabins sit on since 1836. In fact, my mother grew up there after my Grandfather returned from WWII when there was no electricity and the outhouse was a bench over the creek. I grew up hiking the mountains with my brothers and our BB guns and my Uncle Frank at our family reunions. In 2005 he deeded us a parcel of land and we built our first cabin - Smawlie. We love to come to the cabin and Hike the trails on our own property, and of course, the world famous ones that join them, namely the Bartram and the Appalachian Trails. As you explore the lake, the trails, the rivers, and the mountain roads you'll see why our ancestors settled here. In 2018 - we bought the remainder of Uncle Frank's land - and in his honor built our second cabin - Frank's Landing. Also in that year I started managing my brother Bill's cabin.
When we were stationed in Alaska for 6 heavenly years - we purchased a remote parcel of property and have slowly begun to develop it. We just completed building our cabin there.

Treehouse Mountain is a property designed with one thing in mind: relaxation. The property provides 30 acres of mostly forest land for guests to explore. It features four uniquely designed treehouses to fit any travelers needs, and is perfect for hosting groups and events! Here at Treehouse Mountain, our goal is to provide everything that we would want if we were to travel to other rentals. During your stay, you can find that we are readily available if there's anything we can help out with or want help planning your trip to the area as well.
The bathhouse is a shared facility between three of the treehouses. It features two showers and two bathrooms (all separate rooms) and is fully climate controlled (warm in winter, cool in summer). It is cleaned daily, sometimes multiple times a day depending on usage. In the shower rooms, guests can find shampoo, conditioner, and body soap available for their use. In the bathrooms, there is toilet paper, hand soap, hand sanitizer, and hair dryers available as well.
The treehouses have been furnished with you in mind. All linens are provided (all bedding, kitchen towels, bath towels, etc) and additional linens are available upon request.
Each treehouse has a kitchenette area, complete with sink, drip-pot coffee maker (coffee, creamer, sugar provided), toaster, microwave, and half-size refrigerator. There are additional items such as a rice cooker, water kettle, and some snack items provided as well. They each also have a Blackstone Griddle for cooking in an outdoor cooking area.
There is a parking area for guests' cars. The paths on property are well-lit, so there's no need to worry if you arrive in the evening. The owners live on property and are readily available to help during check in and check out if needed.
Each treehouse has a private fire-pit with firewood and fire starter provided.
Our treehouses are dog friendly with no additional fee.

We just retired from Active Duty Air Force! My ancestors have owned the land our NC cabins sit on since 1836. In fact, my mother grew up there after my Grandfather returned from WWII when there was no electricity and the outhouse was a bench over the creek. I grew up hiking the mountains with my brothers and our BB guns and my Uncle Frank at our family reunions. In 2005 he deeded us a parcel of land and we built our first cabin - Smawlie. We love to come to the cabin and Hike the trails on our own property, and of course, the world famous ones that join them, namely the Bartram and the Appalachian Trails. As you explore the lake, the trails, the rivers, and the mountain roads you'll see why our ancestors settled here. In 2018 - we bought the remainder of Uncle Frank's land - and in his honor built our second cabin - Frank's Landing. Also in that year I started managing my brother Bill's cabin.
When we were stationed in Alaska for 6 heavenly years - we purchased a remote parcel of property and have slowly begun to develop it. We just completed building our cabin there.

Treehouse Mountain is a property designed with one thing in mind: relaxation. The property provides 30 acres of mostly forest land for guests to explore. It features four uniquely designed treehouses to fit any travelers needs, and is perfect for hosting groups and events! Here at Treehouse Mountain, our goal is to provide everything that we would want if we were to travel to other rentals. During your stay, you can find that we are readily available if there's anything we can help out with or want help planning your trip to the area as well.
The bathhouse is a shared facility between three of the treehouses. It features two showers and two bathrooms (all separate rooms) and is fully climate controlled (warm in winter, cool in summer). It is cleaned daily, sometimes multiple times a day depending on usage. In the shower rooms, guests can find shampoo, conditioner, and body soap available for their use. In the bathrooms, there is toilet paper, hand soap, hand sanitizer, and hair dryers available as well.
The treehouses have been furnished with you in mind. All linens are provided (all bedding, kitchen towels, bath towels, etc) and additional linens are available upon request.
Each treehouse has a kitchenette area, complete with sink, drip-pot coffee maker (coffee, creamer, sugar provided), toaster, microwave, and half-size refrigerator. There are additional items such as a rice cooker, water kettle, and some snack items provided as well. They each also have a Blackstone Griddle for cooking in an outdoor cooking area.
There is a parking area for guests' cars. The paths on property are well-lit, so there's no need to worry if you arrive in the evening. The owners live on property and are readily available to help during check in and check out if needed.
Each treehouse has a private fire-pit with firewood and fire starter provided.

Weekend Trip to Luxurious Couples Getaway-Reboot!
We loved the private cabin that we were in and there's another nearby camp area but there was no one there so we had the space for ourselves. We would definitely recommend anyone to go and the owner was able to let us take our dog somewhat last minute so that was really nice. The owner answer our messages before and while we stayed in cabin so that was really nice. The cabin was clean and organized before we got there and we had had no issues finding the cabin.

Excellent. 10/10. The house is clean and very well maintained. It’s super cozy. Hot tub worked great, blankets available for hanging outside. Stocked kitchen. Plenty of towels. Right on the water on fairly flat land. Had everything we needed. Will definitely stay again. Host is friendly and super responsive. Can’t wait to visit again as Franklin is an excellent place for a short vacation. Great places to eat and shopping within a short distance. My only complaint is that the beds are small, hard to tell if they were fulls or queens. No King bed (which is what I’m used to). Also no full-length mirrors. But otherwise, we loved it and will definitely be back.

We had an awesome stay at the container tree house. Wasn't sure what to expect but we were extremely happy. The view is amazing and the house its self is cozy especially for a couple looking for a great weekend. My wife had an amazing birthday and went on and on about how great the place was. The hot tub looking out into the mountains with the lake below is pretty epic!
Brian the host gave us tons of recommendations and even helped us find a mountain biking trail where my wife got to have her first ride and now she's hooked.
We will definitely be coming back and will most likely try all three units on the property as they all look killer. I almost don't want to write this review so that we can keep this a secret for ourselves.

Our hosts were so kind and thoughtful, and the setup was excellent and had everything one needs for a very comfortable and memorable glamping experience. The hot tub was definitely a highlight for us. Despite a sudden cold front coming in, the camper was always at a comfortable temperature and we never felt cold at night, even with outside temperatures dropping below freezing. Thank you again to our generous hosts for a great stay in this little oasis in Bryson City. We look forward to visiting again.

Weekend Trip to Nantahala Cabins
My boyfriend and I enjoyed a little getaway at Jeanette’s cute Gone Fishin’ cabin. It was clean, had plenty of clean towels and the kitchen was just right for us to prepare our food. We enjoyed the hot tub and the covered porch.

Weekend Trip to Private Glamper/HOT TUB/MNTN VIEWS
Picture this: Wake up in your cozy camper (very clean and comfortable bed) and hop in the hot tub (extra towels included), take a hot outdoor shower surrounded by fall leaves and head down into Bryson City for some coffee and breakfast. After that, spend the day hiking in the Smokeys, come back into town to explore some shops and breweries, then head back to your cozy trailer for a fire and to soak some more in the hot tub.
That was our exact experience- even though it was about 50 degrees and raining by the evening, that actually made everything even more fun, hot tub included.
This site is so unique, convenient, and well designed. You can tell the host takes pride in making it a perfect stay for everyone, with attention to detail (like putting out a Halloween themed basket with Kurig pods). She even refunded money for firewood we didn’t use.
One note: the hot tub was set at 95 when we arrived, and after a few hours was only 97 even though we set it to 104. It took overnight to get up to temperature, but after that it stayed hot and we got plenty of use out of it.

Weekend Trip to Magnolia Moon Farm
Great spot. Scott and Heidi are some of the most generous hosts I have met. They are very warm and welcoming, and being greeted with a drink of my choice was an amazing way to unwind from a long road trip. The trailer was cute, clean and cozy. It feels remote and back country, and yet it was close enough to the Tail of the Dragon that I could be there at first light. I'd definitely do it again!

Dirk our host was very accommodating. We felt very safe and secure on site. We really appreciated all the communal amenities like the grill, hot tub, fire pit. Being able to bring pets with no additional al charge, also a big plus. Each teepee rental receives their OWN bathroom (away from the teepee) and each teepee has a mini fridge and air conditioning!! Dirk mentioned they might switch them out for heaters in the cold months. Also not mentioned in the listing, there is a stocked pond on site with small mouth and crappie.
Special tip, the chilhowee recreation area can be reached in LESS than 20 min via Benton Springs road, which is a mildly adventurous, low speed gravel switchback mountain road. Any vehicle should be fine in dry conditions with minimal clearance.

Our stay at Hertzen Platz was absolutely wonderful! The host was warm and welcoming, making sure everything was perfect from start to finish. The tent was cozy and beautifully set up… it was comfortable, clean, and full of thoughtful touches. The surrounding area was stunning, peaceful, and the perfect place to relax and unwind. The land is beautiful here. I loved sitting by the creek and identifying the array of different plant and tree species. Gary is a wonderful host. We shared open minded conversation and he prepared us a delicious seed oil free, dairy free, gluten free breakfast, with ease. We enjoyed our stay.

We had such an incredible time staying at Scott and Heidi's place!! I can't wait to go back; one of the coolest places. We stayed in the stargazers tent and it was SO cute and so well stocked. They built their own 1970's karaoke bar on premises where they made us drinks and sang some Tom waits songs for us. We had such a fun time hanging out with them and hearing their stories. I'll definitely be back through on my next road trip!!

Lake Santeetlah boasts 76 miles of shoreline and tons of freshwater fish. Motorized boats are allowed, with several companies offering boat and jet ski rentals. Head to the Charikus Branch and Ground Squirrel Branch for calm waters. Then, conquer the 3.3-mile North Loop hiking trail—a well-maintained pebble pathway makes it accessible for young kids and strollers. There are pet-friendly tent campsites nearby offering wooden tent pads and picnic tables. Or opt for a glamping experience on a farm featuring wooden cabins equipped with fire rings, outdoor showers, and pit toilets.
Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest
The Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest is a 3,800-acre section of Nantahala National Forest. Some of the old-growth trees found here are more than 400 years old and more than 6 feet in diameter. Drive 30-minutes northwest from Robbinsville and leave early because parking is limited. View the towering ancient giants by walking the 2.1-mile Joyce Kilmer Memorial Loop Trail before breaking for lunch at the picnic tables near the entrance. While there are no campsites within the forest itself, there are plenty of tent and RV campgrounds close by.
Asheville
Head 1.5-hours east from Robbinsville to see the hustle and bustle of Asheville. Teeming with art galleries, live music venues, and views of the Appalachian Mountains, there’s plenty to do. Visit the Asheville Pinball Museum, The North Carolina Arboretum, or Asheville Treetop Adventure Park for an exhilarating zipline tour and a forest canopy obstacle course. Settle the campervan into a nearby riverside RV campsite outfitted with full hookups for water and electricity, in addition to dump stations. Or set up a home base at Blue Ridge Recreation Park with tent and RV campgrounds close to waterfalls and lakes.
When to go
The summer season lasts from early June until late September, and it generally doesn’t get hotter than 86°F (but it’s very humid). Rainfall is also common throughout the summer months with July getting the most precipitation. Star gazers should consider visiting in September and October as they typically have the clearest skies. Winter rolls around in early November, and snow is seen from December until March, with the majority of it occurring in January. Spring and fall are usually the best seasons for fishing, just keep in mind that regulations vary depending on the month, so plan accordingly.
