Located just 25 minutes from downtown Asheville, this property sits in a rural, fertile valley, offering breathtaking views to the north and south. Encompassing a total of 23 acres, 5 of which are nearly flat and ideal for parking/camping, while the remainder provides excellent hiking opportunities. A charming bubbling creek, a storage barn suitable for construction or running a business, and the promise of future hydro-power with solar and a battery bank by the creek add to the property's appeal. For those parking near the main house, a 120v extension cord is available for power and internet access. Alternatively, if you prefer to park by the creek, please note that there is currently no power, internet, or water available in that area, though plans are underway for hydro-power with solar and a battery bank. Sometimes we get up early and go hot air balooning — guests are welcome to come watch, help out, learn about balooning or just enjoy the show. The site has full hookups (30 amp, water, sewer) and is best suited for smaller rigs, camper vans, or truck campers. No campers over 20' please, you will have too much trouble getting in and out. Access is up a steep 11% grade so 4-wheel-drive vehicles only please. You’ll share the property with Chief and his son who live in their log cabin on the property, Sam and Christen in their RV on site (much of the time, when they aren't off on an adventure somewhere else), Chuck who is a lifelong family friend of Chief and helps take care of the grounds and dogs, plus two gentle dogs who love company. Pets are welcome if leashed or under reliable control, and as long as they don’t disturb the peace that makes this spot special. Though laundry isn’t available yet, we are working on it. The location is hard to beat — just 18 minutes from downtown Asheville, 5 minutes from Candler, and an easy drive to Pisgah National Forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway for incredible hiking and biking. The neighborhood is very safe, and apart from the occasional sound of shotguns at the shooting range about 1/2 mile away, also rather quiet. There are no sidewalks, so plan to drive a short distance to reach trails or bike routes. Come rest, reset, and maybe catch a glimpse of a balloon drifting above the morning mist.

This no ordinary campground. Pause is an adventure that will feel like you are exploring your own private mountain nature reserve. Aramesh is 120 acres of Blue Ridge heaven with something for every wilderness adventure seeker: unmatched mountain views, lush old growth forests, babbling brooks, and miles of trails for all skill levels. The property starts at 3700 ft altitude, with summit at 4500 ft on the Glades mountain ridge. We have only a few campsites on the vast property, so the wind in the trees and birds will be all you hear. Come and stay with us and be renewed! IMPORTANT: 4WD or AWD is required to access our property. There is a sometimes steep and windy gravel road into Pause. Please make sure your vehicle has 4WD or AWD before you book. Campsites: They are 3/4-1/4 mile from the entrance. Some are accessible by 4WD. There may be some vigorous hiking involved, but the views are worth it. The pads are various sizes. On-Site Amenities: we provide a clean porta-potty and running water that is spring fed. We ask that you follow "Leave-No-Trace" procedures during your stay. Off-Site Amenities: If you choose to explore the area : we are a 10 minute drive from I-40 Exit 24. Asheville is 45 minutes away; Waynesville is 25 minutes away. Presnell's Grocery (highly recommended, family-owned store that sells locally farmed products) is 10 minutes away from the property entrance. The Ingles supermarket in Canton is a 15 minute drive. You will find every kind of fast food in that area. There are also several excellent local dining options in Canton, Clyde, and Waynesville which we are happy to recommend to you by request.

Reid's place was a great spot to camp the night! Only 30 mins from downtown Asheville. No/very little light pollution, so I could see the starry sky clearly. Level ground good for tent setup. Fire pit was well placed. It was very peaceful falling asleep to the sound of the running water in the nearby creek and waking up to the soft bellows of pasture cows in the distance. I would definitely recommend this place. Thank you!

2 nights at Ash Grove Cabins and Camping

What a lovely, welcoming spot Mark and Esther have. We (my bf, pooch and I) spent two nights in our 18.5' camper trailer here in Techno RV Site #2 and it was quite perfect. We had no neighbors camped near us (mid-November and mid-week) so we felt like we were alone in the woods. But there are nice tree/shrub barriers between each site so I think it would have been fine if there had been. The bathhouse was clean and had everything you needed (including a timed heater and unlimited hot water) and the hiking trails on the property were a great place to walk the dog in the morning before setting out on our adventures. Communication was great from the hosts and they were there waiting for us upon our almost-late arrival. All in all, we felt this spot was great - and we'll probably be back. Thanks, Mark and Esther!

We had a great time camping here! The camping sites are in a large grassy meadow/field which sits in a valley with beautiful mountain views. A creek runs through the property, and there are lots of farms nearby. The facilities were very minimal for our tent site, only an outhouse which was perfectly fine with us. Everything was as described in the listing. This spot was centrally located to the places we wanted to visit (such as Pisgah NF, Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville, etc.), while still being far enough out to enjoy some peaceful, quiet mornings & evenings. We would definitely recommend this site and would love to come back!

Lijah's Ridge - beautiful views ! We enjoyed our stay here - and loved the drive up to location. The description for site was accurate - and I might say that this site would be perfect for tents and group of people. We have a roof top tent -so we parked just in front of the tree stumps. Weather was gorgeous - made fire, purchased some wood as part of camp site. Recommending ! Note: This is in description, but can be easily missed. Campers on site above will park in same area, and if you have a rooftop tent - someone maybe parked quite close to you. It did not bother us - but FYI.

This campsite was exactly what I needed. I brought my trailer with a rooftop tent and it fit into the space perfectly. The mountain views were incredible, and the dark skies made it ideal for astrophotography which is just what I was hoping for. The porta potty was super clean, which was a huge relief for my daughter. We had a few friendly horses wander over to say hello at our site looking for head scratches. Getting there does require a 4x4 or all wheel drive, so keep that in mind. The site did have a fire ring and a swing hanging from a tree, which we loved. Jessie, who works there, was amazing with my daughter and she let her help brush the horses and really helped her get over her fear of them. It was one of those trips that just perfect from start to finish.

Do not hesitate to book this site, absolutely stunning and the pictures (although gorgeous) couldn’t compare to how beautiful this site really is. We saw a couple other great sites on our way up to this one but this is definitely the one to pick. Private, with 360 views. And the horses were an amazing addition to this little relaxing retreat :) One of the greatest experiences I’ve had camping. 4wd is definitely a must

I've stayed here twice and would stay here again. It's a beautiful, quiet valley outside of Asheville. There is also a nice, bubbling creek nearby for a relaxing backdrop. I don't require any hookups so this place is perfect. Only note is that the spots down by the creek could be slippery after a lot of rain due to the slope of the topography.

This campsite is truly a gem tucked away in the mountains. The property is beautifully maintained, quiet and peaceful. Perfect for a relaxing getaway. Reid was extremely helpful and made sure to let me know ahead of time that he’d be out of town but that someone would be available if I needed anything. I did get the chance to meet Brian who introduced himself. We had a great time here and really enjoyed the mountain setting. Overall, a wonderful spot that I’d gladly return to

We had a wonderful weekend at Jill and Fara’s place! Lijah’s Ridge is definitely the move for camp spot, great drive up spot with a swing and some rad sunsets. A 4WD or AWD is pretty necessary but our truck (not a 4x4) made it up. Glad we got to meet Jill and Fara-who even picked some fresh apples from the property and shared them with us. Also glad to report, we had no tick sightings in September! The horses visited us a few times, which was a treat. There were other campers one night we were there, but we were far enough away that we couldn’t hear them or bother them.

Beautiful location. Definitely requires an all wheel drive vehicle to get there. Unfortunately for us it rained the entire time we were there, so it was hard to see all the beautiful views we were there for. But we made friends with horses, so it was a nice bonus.
