1 night at Mountain Homestead

Such a great stay that we added an extra night! The perfect blend of on site amenities like a propane cook top and water to wash up, and time in nature. Enjoyed walking around the property and the sound of the creek all night. Will probably book another stay here in the fall, I'm sure it's beautiful.

We had a great stay at Jake’s farm! The site was exactly as pictured, and everything matched our expectations. Jake/Chris was a welcoming host and very quick to respond to any questions. One of the highlights was seeing so many fireflies at night—it made the experience feel truly magical. Would definitely recommend!

The owner was very nice & informative of all the amenities provided. Firewood was plentiful & made for great fires, having a bathroom & shower was a nice amenity to have when you normally don’t get those. She also gave me directions of how to navigate to certain spots in the area. All the animals were friendly & caused no issue. Highly recommend this place & I would stay again for sure.

Weekend Trip to Broken Oak Riverside Getaway

We really enjoyed our time at Craig’s site! The campsite (2) felt very private. We have three boys ages 16 years to 4 years old and they loved it as well. We also brought our two fur babies. The river is just feet away from the campsite and was perfect for floating. We brought sand toys as well which was perfect for the sandy area. The bathroom was a fantastic plus. Craig was fast to respond with any questions we had. We can’t wait to come back!

Our family loved camping at this site! Andrew was extremely welcoming and helpful. He kept us well stocked with firewood. Our two boys loved when he came by and let them help him feed the trout in the stream. The stream itself and the surrounding area were beautiful. The stream was chocked full of trout and our little boy caught his first rainbow! I couldn’t recommend staying here enough. From how beautiful the site is to how awesome of a guy Andrew is, do not hesitate to camp here!

The site was clean, beautiful, and had amazing amenities! The bathhouse was a great thought and the honesty store is just the icing on the cake. I had an incredible camping trip and I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed with this campground!

We enjoyed our stay! It was nice to have our own little spot, and the sound of the creek was very relaxing at night. My wife especially loved the sweet dogs on site.

This site was so lovely. The rapids are peaceful and under some wonderful shade trees. The farm has great hiking, a little beach to access the river and lots of pigs!

Such a quiet hidden gem at Ruby Ranch! If you’re looking for a peaceful spot to lay your tent this is it! With a great mountain and creek view, and nice fluffy grass to lay to your tent. We fell asleep to the sounds of the creek and fields of fireflies all around us. As a bonus its location is only a short drive from our favorite spots on the parkway. It is primitive, no bathroom or potable water, so keep that in mind. Would definitely recommend Ruby Ranch as an ideal camping spot!

Can’t say enough good things about this camp. The setting was amazing right by the creek with a lot of privacy and open space. communication was excellent and the facilities were VERY clean. We’ll definitely be back!

The drive to was gorgeous and once you get off the black top it’s an adventure, gravel road leading to sites were easy to navigate if you’re going mountain side sites you’ll definitely want AWD or 4WD. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, spacious and enough room to roam around. Andrew takes very good care of the property keeping it all clean and cut. Had a nice four night get away and already planning the next trip up there.

Favorite hipcamp so far . Stayed @ site #1 right on the creek. Campground was quiet & hosts gave us plenty of space . Female bathrooms were down for repairs but there were locks on the men's bathrooms so no problem . Local area is beautiful.

Our homestead is home to our family, chickens, and a livestock guardian dog. We also have a small orchard and a garden. Most of our 12+ acres are wooded and our property backs up to thousands of acres of public forest land owned by Clemson University. A trail connects our backyard to the main network of hiking/mountain biking trails in Clemson Forest. For those familiar with the forest, our property is in the vicinity of Wildcat Technical, Wounded Road, and Chainbreaker trails. As private and wooded as our property is, we are only 10-15 minutes from downtown Clemson and less than 10 minutes from the small towns of Central and Six Mile. Lakes Hartwell and Keowee are also short drives. We currently offer a single campsite, which can accommodate several tents or a camper van. Our campsite features a composting toilet outhouse, and water is available from spigots at our house. Though fairly close to our house, the campsite has a very private feel due to being completely surrounded by a hardwood forest.

Since the Lands opened their doors in 2010 they have come. There have been families, couples, groups, the media and fruit pickers who have all visited the farm; and they return year after year. Having been written up countless times across the southeast, US and more recently featured on The Today Show, the farm just keeps growing and getting better. With a history of growing sweet juicy apples, the soil in this part of the world has proven to be excellent for peaches, muscadines, scuppernongs, and blueberries. This is not a campground, but a private Recreation Area on 43.7 acres on Tallulah River, which we love to share. Yes, there is a house here an there along the border. People choose to camp in the easy to access area, instead of hiking out to more seclude places on the property. So if you have a problem with the house being there across from the "sweet spot" please just choose a different place to spot. I find it so funny people want to come to secluded and be able to DRIVE TO IT, with no other people around. It is mostly secluded, but people do live around here, and a few houses border this property. People have actually given us bad reviews because of this. Hike in and camp away if it bothers you that someone lives across the river. And yes, there are chickens, foxes, coyotes, bears. Yes there is a road. Yes, they cut the trees down along the road to build the new bridge. Yes I have planted trees, and it will be more private as these grow. All this being said, please read on... This is rural neighborhood in Persimmon Community, Georgia. There are neighbors. Act accordingly, the few who do not! We are a few miles from NC line, and about 20 or so from SC line, in the most Northeast corner of Georgia. We are blessed with mountains, water, and a great community. 43.7 acres access, 1,000 feet of Tallulah River frontage (actually, property line is down the middle of the river), there is a nice road to the place, and a field and Tallulah River...... You can drive into the field, have fun in the river, and camp, build a fire, do whatever you like in our space. If you don't like being close to the very nice neighbors across from the car accesable spot, the camp further up the field, or pack by foot up the mountain. We are NOT a campground. We have no fixed sites. The fire pits were made by campers, not by me (the owner.) People have actually complained to me that there are neighbors across the river. CAMP AWAY FROM THERE IF IT BOTHERS YOU. And yes, they have chickens, that will wake you at dawn... Yes, there is a road. Yes there is a field. No, there are no fixed campsites. We are not a campground. We leave you alone. We will try to answer questions, but I do not sit by the phone. This is just us sharing access to the land. We want to preserve this like this, for as long as we can. I genuinely want to share this place. But that being said, I would rather not interface with campers. I live in the middle of nowhere for a reason. I assume you want to visit the middle of nowhere to be left alone. This is what I will do. I do my best to keep this going, and open to being shared. That's my job. But I am not going to find you stuff to do, watch the calendar, or whatever. Just look up THINGS TO DO IN RABUN COUNTY. DON'T TRESPASS ON NEIGHBORS' LAND If people come on the land while you are here, THEY are trespassing. I try to keep it private, but there is the occasional interloper who wanders on. Just tell them you have it lease, it is private. I am sorry for this. People are, well.... PEOPLE.... There is 44 acres here. Over 1,000 feet of river frontage. There is great fishing here. Please respect the property lines. We love our neighbors, and they love us. We want to keep it this way. Be aware that the property if BELOW the bridge, all the way back to the old cabin. That next branch is the property line. I will try and provide a plat, or map so you will be aware of the lines. There is also plenty of public property in Rabun County. Rabun County is 65% US Forest Service land. If 44 private acres isn't enough, then check out some of the wonderful public places around here. Look in photos for plat of the property. You agree to not trespass. Also, property line is down the middle of the river. Please don't trespass across the river. This is a brand new unopened toilet lid and a brand new 5 gallon bucket. Bring some cat litter, and some bags to line the bucket, and some Ziploc bags to put this in and seal. The cost of a bucket potty is $22 NO MORE KITTY TRENCHES. You are expected to remove your waste and put it in your trash each time you use it. This is for consideration of others. IF YOU LEAVE TRASH YOU WILL BE CHARGED $50 FOR CLEANUP. IF YOU LEAVE HUMAN WASTE, YOU WILL BE CHARGED $500 FOR CLEANUP.......... I am only saying this because as we get more experience, we learn what people are actually capable of. Most people are very good about everything. But there have been a few people who actually expected me to clean up their waste, and then they gave me a bad review, etc. I am a decent guy. I will share my million dollar property with you for $40 a night. I will leave you alone. But please.... PLEASE... don't expect me to clean up after you. We will soon be adding Forest Bathing. The frogs eat most of the mosquitos and the fireflies will provide the nightly entertainment from May till August.
