My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. Learn more about this land:   Pitch your tent in the grass on the tip top of the mountain or park your camper in the flat gravel spot with a fire pit just below the top with beautiful views overlooking Cane Creek.  In the fall and winter enjoy 360 degree views and in the summer enjoy the shade and cool breeze while relaxing & snacking on wild wine berries and black raspberries.   What you will not find is light pollution, traffic, and a desire to leave the mountain.  Fall asleep to the calls of the hoot owl and wake up to the knocking of the wood pecker.       If & when you decide to explore the area, be sure to checkout Hickory Nut Gap farm just 7.9 miles away & Whistle Hop Brewery 7.7 miles away.  Turgua brewery just down on Cane Creek road is only 6.2 miles from camp.  Cane Creek Valley Farm as well as the Cane Creek Community swimming pool is also at the base of camp just in case the kids need a dip of ice cream or a dip in the pool.  Justus Apple Orchard is only 10 miles down the mountain towards Hendersonville.  We love taking our kids there.      We are only 15 miles from downtown Asheville & Hendersonville, and 22 miles from Lake Lure. Welcome to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina! At approximately 3,455 feet elevation we enjoy mountain breezes all summer PLEASE DO NOT ‘photo book’! We ask guests to please read through the details BEFORE booking a site. For example: not all tent sites are park at sites. Some of our more secluded sites in the woods are far from bathrooms etc. Sites near the winery/bathrooms are not secluded and you can see/hear ‘people’. The ‘wildlife’ sites require parking in guest parking and a 5 minute walk. As of Jan 2025 we change to an age 13+ campground. No one under the age of thirteen years old is permitted to camp overnight. Younger children will still be permitted to visit the winery next door to the campground during open hours but must have an adult (18 years plus) with them at ALL times! Due to an incident that could have ended in tragedy we have a zero tolerance policy of unsupervised children. You will be asked to leave if your young child is unattended by an adult. During the summer months we often have free range chicken eggs and organic produce and herbs available for our campers. We are next to our own winery/cidery that features home brew wines and beer. We also offer sodas. Firewood is for sale. You may bring your own firewood as long as it’s not from out of state. We have a few primitive sites in our woods for those who love more seclusion and places to hang hammocks. Again, PLEASE read through all the descriptions of each particular site to make certain you choose the right fit for your camping needs. We offer Hiking/jogging trails at the campground with more trails on the nearby blue ridge parkway. We are just around the corner from the famous Emerald Village Mines and only a 5 minute drive to downtown Little Switzerland. We are also only a 5 minutes drive to the famous Diamondback scenic mountain road. Approximately 20 minutes drive to Crabtree Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our cantina next door at 539 blue ridge gem mine road is open for the season and serving home brew beers and small batch ciders for ages 21 and older. Photo ID required. Sodas available for purchase as well. We now have a well lit covered porch area and club house with free WiFi and available 24 hours to our campers. Note: absolutely no outside alcohol or underage alcohol consumption permitted on premises. Anyone not in compliance with North Carolina state laws and federal laws will be evicted from campgrounds without refunds. If the campgrounds happen to be under a burn ban please understand that we can’t and will not break the law for you! All campers must obey the burn ban if in effect or face possible penalties under state law! This is for your own safety as well. Anything sold by us may be legally consumed at your campsite and is covered under our winery ABC permit. Camp host can’t go to bed until all campers are checked in so no late night arrivals please! Thank you for your understanding. Adult horseback trail rides are available at nearby Springmaid Mountain Retreat. Maps provided to Springmaid Mountain. All minors must have ADULT supervision at all times at the winery next door (older siblings do not qualify as adult supervision). With farm animals and 140 acres of woods nearby and three deep ponds in those woods it can be a dangerous situation for young, unsupervised children. If we are babysitting your children to keep them out of danger or from damaging our property you’ll be asked to leave. We want everyone to be safe. Up to 2 dogs are allowed per campsite. Dogs Must remain on leash at all times and have proof of up to date rabies vaccination. We have chickens and horses on our mini farm so please keep dogs under control at all times. Also, please do not feed our chickens, horses or any of the wildlife on our property. It is the responsibility of our campers to check the weather conditions, noting any burn bans for the area or rain etc, looking at all the rules and property details, before booking is the campers responsibility. Please do not blame the host! HipCamp now offers rainy day insurance Watch for our special events like ghost story campfire tales/walk with local guest authors, mountain yoga, herbal remedies classes, trail treasure hunts with prizes, mushroom identification classes etc. Additional parking is available for added cars in the guest parking lot area if campers have no more room at their campsite for visitors or any extra cars. We have a hot/cold shower and modern style flush toilets available in large cargo container. We also now have free Starlink WiFi in the Cantina/clubhouse area and some of the closer tent sites. Our clubhouse stays open for campers 24/7 with a microwave available, games, television and comfortable seating areas. Note: The quarter mile of gravel drive is steep but I drive my two wheel drive car up and down it every day. However, if you have a vehicle that chugs and struggles up hills (older RV etc) you may find it a challenge. We are working on getting that section paved to help out the older RVs and buses. Note: The gray building and pond area is NOT our property. Please be respectful of our neighbors and the family that lives there. Do not wander around our neighbors pond /barn area. Thank you! All campers are expected to read and follow the HipCamp guidelines. This is not just a ‘business’, it is also a family home that we are graciously sharing with you for a small fee so we expect campers to respectful of our land, our neighbors and your fellow campers. Anyone who can’t show integrity, maturity and be responsible and respectful of this will be asked to leave and/or permanently banned from both the winery and our campgrounds. No fighting! This includes couples fighting. Settle it 'off property'. We are pretty mellow, yet take bad behavior and disrespect for others very seriously. Unsupervised children has been a huge problem lately and we simply won’t tolerate very young children wandering the woods, running across other folks campsites, deliberately damaging our property etc. It is up to the parents to fully supervise their children and keep them safe! Caught without a last minute hotel room and rather not park your family in Walmart lot? We offer car camping in our parking lot for $15.00 a night. You’ll have access to bathrooms and a hot shower! We also have tents, sleeping bags and camping mats for rent. Summer of 2025 will be our third year open and there have been many wonderful improvements! ❤️ We made it through Hurricane Helene with minimal damage and with the help of some kind volunteers we have some great updates!

The property has been chemical free for the past 20 years under Paradise Ridge; thus, it has plenty of wild edibles around for your pleasure. Mushrooms, weeds and added edibles for your experience. At the moment, we accept tents, hammocks, and the like for anyone to enjoy this little piece of paradise on Flat Top Mountain. We are located between Asheville and Chimney Rock. There is SO much the area has to offer; it is too much to list here. You can find great food, good beer, and lively music in either direction from Paradise Ridge. Or you can enjoy a simple quiet shared camp fire area. We are in the process of repairing fences, reseeding the pastures, and restructuring the hen house.

Tent 1 is in the Forrest itself and it is pretty cook and serene. Tent 2 is on the top of a rocky hill overlooking the forest. Tent 3 is the most remote and closest to the ponds. It has most of the open space around it, and can be a great place for parties. We are working on making the sites and the area more comfortable, but I do not want to make it a manicured park. I want it to remain wild and still offer comfortable stay. The farm is work in progress. Eventually it will be an Ostrich farm. and have other animals too. The closest town - Lenoir is about 12 miles away . Closest Grocery store (Dollar General) - about 3 miles away. Closest Gas station - 2 miles away. Professional Tennis court, Basketball court and large kids playground are in a public park within - 5 minute drive. Lenoir has restaurants, shopping, etc. Hickory is a larger town about 25 minutes drive. Hickory Lake is a large reservoir with marina where you can rent a boat and it also offers a good game fishing. Nice swimming beach access on Lake Hickory 13 miles ( 20 Minutes) from here: Lake Hickory Wittenburg access area (Wittenburg Access Area, 175 Wildlife Access Rd, Hickory, NC 28601) Asheville is 1:25 hrs to the West, Charlotte is 1:25 hr to the East. There are couple of Ski resorts 45 minutes to an hr away.

While the property is 14 acres, due to the private dwellings, any private wellness sessions that might be happening on the property, and the fact that we have not recovered our trails after Hurricane Helene, we will ask that you limit your activity to the space provided. Please note that we have many roosters who enjoy celebrating the coming of the morning light! We also have the friendly, mostly free-ranging "Bird Herd". There are coyotes that hunt in the fields around us and bring their celebrations at night and we aren't sure if Little Bear has moved along or not. Overall, this is a great place for those who want more privacy than a campground but don't want to haul yourself deep into the wilderness. You are safe and secure on the property but do know that wildlife is all around. We welcome those who are quiet, peaceful, with an open mind and open heart who are willing and able to honor this sanctuary. We cannot have dogs on the property. PLEASE DO NOT ASK. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. No one under the age of thirteen years old is permitted to camp overnight. Younger children will still be permitted to visit the winery next door to the campground during open hours but must have an adult (18 years plus) with them at ALL times! Due to an incident that could have ended in tragedy we have a zero tolerance policy of unsupervised children. You will be asked to leave if your young child is unattended by an adult. During the summer months we often have free range chicken eggs and organic produce and herbs available for our campers. We are next to our own winery/cidery that features home brew wines and beer. We also offer sodas. Firewood is for sale. You may bring your own firewood as long as it’s not from out of state. We have a few primitive sites in our woods for those who love more seclusion and places to hang hammocks. Again, PLEASE read through all the descriptions of each particular site to make certain you choose the right fit for your camping needs. We offer Hiking/jogging trails at the campground with more trails on the nearby blue ridge parkway. It is the responsibility of our campers to check the weather conditions, noting any burn bans for the area or rain etc, looking at all the rules and property details, before booking is the campers responsibility. The site offers three luxury large Safari Style Tents and 4 Pioneer wagons. The closest town - Lenoir is about 12 miles away . Closest Grocery store (Dollar General) - about 3 miles away. Closest Gas station - 2 miles away. Professional Tennis court, Basketball court and large kids playground are in a public park within - 5 minute drive. Lenoir has restaurants, shopping, etc. Hickory is a larger town about 25 minutes drive. Hickory Lake is a large reservoir with marina where you can rent a boat and it also offers a good game fishing. Nice swimming beach access on Lake Hickory 13 miles ( 20 Minutes) from here: Lake Hickory Wittenburg access area (Wittenburg Access Area, 175 Wildlife Access Rd, Hickory, NC 28601) Asheville is 1:25 hrs to the West, Charlotte is 1:25 hr to the East. While you are simply renting the campsite, if you desire to participate in some Equine Facilitated Wellness I'd be grateful to discuss adding this to your stay. The campsite is a small tent area carved into the woods near the front of the property and is next to our cleared pasture area and Ceremonial Grounds. It is a short walk from the outhouse and while there is no running water, we will happily fill up jugs. While the property is 14 acres, due to the private dwellings, any private wellness sessions that might be happening on the property, and the fact that we have not recovered our trails after Hurricane Helene, we will ask that you limit your activity to the space provided. Please note that we have many roosters who enjoy celebrating the coming of the morning light! We also have the friendly, mostly free-ranging "Bird Herd". There are coyotes that hunt in the fields around us and bring their celebrations at night and we aren't sure if Little Bear has moved along or not. Overall, this is a great place for those who want more privacy than a campground but don't want to haul yourself deep into the wilderness. You are safe and secure on the property but do know that wildlife is all around. We welcome those who are quiet, peaceful, with an open mind and open heart who are willing and able to honor this sanctuary. We cannot have dogs on the property. PLEASE DO NOT ASK. This isn't about your dog, this is about ours. Finally, we also have a 2 person tent that can be rented for $10 a night if needed.

We are offering our small, semi private (we and two other tenants live on the property), primitive campsite area to the public this fall in order to generate income to support our mini horses in their continued rehabilitation process. While you are simply renting the campsite, if you desire to participate in some Equine Facilitated Wellness I'd be grateful to discuss adding this to your stay. The campsite is a small tent area carved into the woods near the front of the property and is next to our cleared pasture area and Ceremonial Grounds. It is a short walk from the outhouse and while there is no running water, we will happily fill up jugs. While the property is 14 acres, due to the private dwellings, any private wellness sessions that might be happening on the property, and the fact that we have not recovered our trails after Hurricane Helene, we will ask that you limit your activity to the space provided. Please note that we have many roosters who enjoy celebrating the coming of the morning light! We also have the friendly, mostly free-ranging "Bird Herd". There are coyotes that hunt in the fields around us and bring their celebrations at night and we aren't sure if Little Bear has moved along or not. Overall, this is a great place for those who want more privacy than a campground but don't want to haul yourself deep into the wilderness. You are safe and secure on the property but do know that wildlife is all around. We welcome those who are quiet, peaceful, with an open mind and open heart who are willing and able to honor this sanctuary. We cannot have dogs on the property. PLEASE DO NOT ASK. This isn't about your dog, this is about ours. Finally, we also have a 2 person tent that can be rented for $10 a night if needed.

Truly at the top of a mountain! Edwin communicates quickly & answered all our questions. The shelter Edwin has made is awesome, wouldn’t even need a tent if you want to sleep in there. The pit toilet is a GREAT addition. The dog cable run is a really nice too. There are multiple spots to place tents and two different spots to have a fire. We had a group of 10 people with 6 tents and still had open spots. 2 trucks & a van fit at the parking on site, the mini van struggled a bit up parts of the graveled hill drive but made it! 10/10 recommend & would love to come back.

Spectacular view and great host! Book this place if youre thinking about it. Excellent view of the stars and mountains. Slept in the bed of my truck facing the ridgeline. Field is directly off the road, but the road is pretty slow and doesn't cause much noise. Sheep pasture at the base of the field has two guardian dogs (very good boys) they'll quiet down once you settle in.

You can bring your own ATV or SXS or rent one of ours. We have cabins & camp sites that are accessed by ATV or SXS on the mountains as well as hiking or biking. Located on family land granted by King Charles in 1685 we have worked hard to restore and refurbish in a sustainable way, using the trees and supplies from the land that they sit on. Hand crafting doors and furniture the way the family did it 140 plus years ago. The history of this place is deep, even the nails for the cabin and farm house that is now the clubhouse were hand crafted by my great grandfather in his blacksmith shop, along with the wagon wheels, horse shoes, misc farm utensils etc... there was no running out to Lowes to pick up what was needed, it was made in the blacksmith shop. We love riding ATV's and SXS's on the trails on the mountains that I grew up on with my 3 brothers, we hope the people who visit and experience the mountains feel about them the way we do, we love em. We like to give riding tours and talking about the mountain and its challenges. We named the park from the famous product that was created here during prohibition, Cherry Bounce Moonshine. You can visit some of the original still sites on the mountain, of course they are not operational today. About the adventure co side, We are an adrenaline pumping ATV and SXS park with 25+ miles of mountainous trails at four skill levels; Green (Easy), Blue (Challenging), Black Diamond (Very Difficult) and Double Black Diamond (Most Difficult). You can bring your own ATV or SXS or rent one of ours. We have cabins & camp sites that are accessed by ATV or SXS on the mountains as well as hiking or biking. We do not allow jeeps, trucks or dirt bike motorcycles on the mountain, just ATV's and SXS vehicles.

This 1983 Ford Blue Bird bus has been one of NC's most popular Airbnb's over the last several years. We also partner with local wedding venues that are also very convenient to our location. Some of these include Zimmerwald Estate, Farm Haven, The Venue at Don's Pond, Mountain View Barn and Venue, Creekside Farm Venue and The Farm at Belwood. Other attractions include Tryon Equestrian Center, Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure.
