Pocono Woodland Lakes, PA · 9 sites · Tents, RVs, Lodging
All lodging sites have heating for your comfort and are available year round! The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be. The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore. These accommodations are great for guests who want more amenities but still with easy access to river. Pair campsites and cabins so that all your guests have their best experience. Ideally located - West facing views to the Delaware River that provides spectacular sunsets. The quaint town of Callicoon is six miles to the North and Narrowsburg is six miles to the south. Most of the restaurants in those towns and other towns nearby areas are farm to table - excellent quality. Boating equipment can be rented there from Lander's River Trips and tubes can be rented by Lothian House adjacent to the free parking lot.
The property is ideal for anyone looking to escape to a secluded, quiet area, with everything from Bald Eagles, Deer, Rabbits, and other local wildlife. Fell free to step right into the shallow river, just footsteps from your tent, and enjoy some smores by the riverside firepit. We recommend bringing inflatables and or kayaks to take advantage of the beautiful river. Guests can drop in a few miles up river, and float down to the campsite. Ideally located - West facing views to the Delaware River that provides spectacular sunsets. The quaint town of Callicoon is six miles to the North and Narrowsburg is six miles to the south. Most of the restaurants in those towns and other towns nearby areas are farm to table - excellent quality. Wildlife is abundant - you will see many deer, bald eagles, bear, wild turkeys, and much more. Pepper spray is a must for spending time on the property. We have not seen a bear on our property, however there have been sightings near by. River access is approximately one mile south (3 minute drive) on NY97 at Skinners Falls Beach. Boating equipment can be rented there from Lander's River Trips and tubes can be rented by Lothian House adjacent to the free parking lot. Guidelines: 1 Please keep all food and garbage inside your trailer during your entire stay unless you are eating at the picnic bench. 2 Keep pepper spray on your person at all times! It can be purchased at Tom's Bait and Tackle at the strip mall just before entering Narrowsburg: 116 Kirks Rd. Check photos 3 Please take all food scraps with you - avoid pouring cooking oil and leaving garbage on the property. 4 Kindly use the fire pit 20 feet or more from the picnic table and all trees - the location it is in when you arrive is the best place. 5 Please avoid touching any electric wires to prevent electric shock. 6 Please cover the picnic table and metal fire pit before leaving. 7 Please be respectful of our neighbors by staying on our property. There are pink ribbons tied around the tree trunks to mark our boundaries-beyond those ribbons is our neighbor's property. 8 We do not supply firewood, however there is plenty that can be gathered from our property. You will see it laying all around. 9 Please clean up after your pet. 10 Have fun!!! Some of our favorite places to eat: The Laundrette Pizza, The Heron, and La Cigogne all in Narrowsburg. Callicoon Wine Merchant, The Black Walnut, and Seminary Hill Orchard and Cidery all in Callicoon. The North Branch Inn - North Branch, Conover Club at Callicoon Hills Guest House - Callicoon Center. 55 Acres of Mountain land nestled in the Catskill Forest LESS THAN 2 HOURS from NYC ! Best suited for a Young couple or a Maximum of 4 who enjoy the outdoors and want to explore the wilderness with many local hiking trails nearby. You should appreciate Forest Bathing known as Shinrin-Yoku in Japanese which is the Therapeutic practice that involves spending time in nature to relax and connect with the environment through your senses. It helps improve Healthand Well-being. Grounding or Earthing which was just on Good Day New York in NYC explains the benefits of walking Barefoot on the Earth..Grass and Moss up here at the cabin. The terrain can be uneven and the stairs going upstairs to the bedrooms are steep so this is not recommended for the elderly or people with limited mobilty or balance. Near the Once Famous and Historic NEVELE Hotel which you can see from the top of the mountain! Former Presidents and Comedians have all been there. YOU TUBE it !!! (Abandoned Ski Resort) By Bright Sun Films. Also Near Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and Yasgur's Farm where the famous Woodstock Festival took place in 1969. (Watch the Awesome Movie on DVD at the cabin called "Taking Woodstock" is a must watch to understand the history of the area.
