Sheila and Bob bought it in the early 80s and have turned it into an amazing compound built for their family. They blinked their eyes and their children are gone, so this beautiful 50 acre diverse property and its private trail system are meant to be shared. Nestled in a mature, private pine forest, this well cared for property boasts abundant wildlife and a network of walking, skiing and mountain biking trails which take you past wetlands, cliffs and a variety of forest types. Learn more about this land: Welcome to our Wilmington Terrace Barnyard! It's a half acre plot of land located behind my house "Wilmington Terrace Ranch" (on Air B+B). It's a quiet neighborhood on a dead-end street. We're in close proximity to copious hiking trails, mountain biking, fishing on the Au Sable river, 'the flume' swimming hole, pubs and restaurants, and nearby Adirondack towns including Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Keene.  Aside from the lean-to located in the back corner of the property, there is access to electricity and water, a fire pit and outdoor seating. Willow Hill Farm is a family-run working horse farm. We train , teach, board horses, and run a day camp. We had a resident camp for 40 years. We have mountains in our backyard and the Au Sable River with world class fishing bordering our meadow for a half mile. Great swimming there, also! We are 45 minutes from Lake Placid and 30 minutes from Plattsburgh. Montreal and Burlington, VT are a 1.5 hour drive. Lake Champlain is 15 minutes away. Hiking, boating, and swimming are all close, and riding lessons are available on the farm. Most hip camp sites are near where resident campers stayed. There are two sleeping cabins with many bunks. Each has two small rooms where a counselor slept and one large room. There are screened windows with shutters on all sides and screen doors without locks on each end. There are electrical outlets and over head lights in the cabins. We have plans to improve the cabins. Past the cabins is the Green with 4 loose stone firepits. Across from the cabins is the shower house with four hot showers, sink, and toilets. Showers and toilets have closed stalls. Currently, the water system is above ground and will not work in freezing temps. We have installed an outhouse for year round use. All water is from our excellent well. On each side of the former(closed) dining are spots. There are electrical outlets on the outside of the dining hall. People with campers may like to park in the riding arena near the barnyard. There are outlets, but no toilets. Good water is available from the barns. Lovely views of sky and mountains! We also have a beautiful 50 acre field with a household type outlet, but no well. There is an outhouse there. Excellent sky viewing here. This is where we jump and train our horses. Horses may be turned out in this field.

Holly has a great setup boardering state park land with trails that connect. The area has a lot to offer with some great hikes. They have potable water available close to the camp site and a porta potty at the site. If you like animals, they have all sorts of farm friends for you to watch and visit with. It was a wonderful place to stay.

Excellent stay! Beautiful spot, nice and quiet. We spent a decent amount of time just reading books with the windows open. Close to everything. Fire pit was nice, also had a charcoal grill you could use. Would love to stay again, highly recommend!

Great centralized yet secluded spot. The lean to was the kids favorite to hang out at, eat meals, etc. Water from a well was provided, water pressure wasn’t the best but just filled our white tank and used water pump, power was also provided. Totally recommend for anyone looking a spot to explore ADK!

Robin was a wonderful and gracious host. We had clear directions to her site, and the photos were accurate and helpful. There was a lot of grassy space for us to pull in and park our 22’ sprinter van camper. We choose to be opposite Robin’s beautifully decked out ADK lean-to and campfire ring. The site was quiet and chill. The walks down to the River and to shops in town were easy and convenient. Great site all around.

1 night at May Meadows Farm

I was in the Potsdam area for several days and found this gem on hipcamp. The site is at the corner of a huge hayfield. No other people in sight, although some deer did wander across the far edge of the field one evening. I went over and met the sheep and cows. That is definitely an add on to consider for this site. Coffee at Park Bagels in Canton is super convenient, and if you are in a rush, there is a Tim Horton's nearby.

We loved camping at Hee Haw Haven! My kids loved all of the different animals, play areas, zip line, and camping for the first time. Holly and her husband were so welcoming and generous. They want to return soon (in their minds all camping happens there) and wonder if they can build a portal to get there faster.

Lovely clean and comfortable cabin, 15 min from Saranac Lake and 30 min from Lake Placid. Gracious and communicative hosts. This is the second year in a row that we have stayed here and hope to return again next year. One note: The fridge is a large dorm-size fridge w/a tiny freezer section, so if you have ice packs you want to refreeze or keep frozen, you might want to grab a bag of ice to put in a cooler when you are near the cab

The cabin was a nice experience, roomy, and had everything needed. The screened in porch was great, gave us some shelter from the critters and the firepit helped as well! Kitchen area is very usable, one hotplate was handy but if you plan to do significant cooking bring a stove. Fit 4 people between the full bed, the futon, and the included cot. Firewood and eggs were a nice touch!

A great location for everything Wilmington ! Very quiet street with a lot of wildlife nearby. There's a nice swimming hole just a short walk down the street, along with public picnic tables along the Ausable River. Great host and clean site with water /well hose and a nice authentic ADK lean-to and firepit. Very relaxing .

Weekend Trip to Kickin' Up Dust Farm

Hee Haw Haven is an awesome camping spot! Flat, sandy ground, fire pit, and plenty of room for our two vehicles. Picnic table, outhouse and garbage can at the campsite. They supplied us with a water cooler too, and had fill spots around the property. They have additional picnic tables in the shade next to the donkey pastures. A 3-5 minute walk through the woods to showers and lake at a public campground. Holly gave us a tour of the property and introduced us to all of their farm animals. We opted for the donkey clinic, and it was so much fun! Brushing, cleaning, and leading the donkeys on a walk through the woods. The site and their farm is a short drive from Plattsburgh, other Lake Champlain beaches, and Adirondack hikes. Ultimately it was a fantastic camping spot, and I would recommend it to anyone!

The field was wide open and very quiet. The most gorgeous views of the mountains. Had to migrate to where the grass was a bit shorter as my first night there was quite a few crawling critters. But second night was just fine! I hope all future campers enjoy!
