Looking for some peace and quiet? Up for an adventure with rustic camping? Our property was once part of a much larger business farm. It has not been under a tractor since 2010, except for mowing. We have been hosting for HipCamp since 2019 and we are eager to meet you and hear what you think of our acres.  The gorgeous sunsets over Lake Ontario are world renowned, and our primitive camp sites are just one half mile from the lake.  The terrain is hilly, elevation ranges from 320' - 380'.  Due to the location on the hill, great views of the spectacular sunrise can also be seen (from the ground) and pretty much most of the sunsets. Excellent opportunities for bird watching, we have seen everything from goldfinches to bald eagles, with sightings of indigo buntings, sparrowhawks, snow and Canada geese, according to season. Wildflowers, berries and herbs are in abundance, when in season. Being right near the fourth largest Great Lake the campgrounds is a great spot for cloud watching, kite sailing and star viewing - there is no light pollution.  Fresh water divers?  There are dozens of sunken shipwrecks in Lake Ontario and, NOAA national marine sanctuary in eastern Lake Ontario to protect historically significant shipwrecks and maritime heritage resources. Oh, and did I mention the world class fishing? Co-owner, Valerie, is a permaculturist and welcomes conversation about anything environmental.  The flattest part of the hill was once under cultivation but since 2010 has been allowed to revert to woodlands.  I farm trees, the only animals here will be the ones that Nature sends (or if you bring a pet). Fruit and nut trees have been planted, as well as some berries, so since 2010 they are not very large.  My trees are very important. Please take care not to injure them. Seasoned firewood is plentiful from the prunings as well as from deadfall and extra can be purchased at the farm - $6. per bundle.  (Per New York State DEC regulation, untreated firewood may not be moved over 50 miles.)  There is a working rocket mass heater in the barn and it will be fired up and roaring between October and April.  Knitting and crocheting lessons are yours for the asking.  Co-owner, William, may also be persuaded to show you some guitar licks.  Children 12 and under are discounted 50% off. Children under 2 are free. At the edges of the property you can see neighbors' houses but campsites are secluded from the neighbors as well as from each other. All campsites are drive in but you may be driving across a mown field. Sterling Nature Center (Great Blue Heron rookery!) and Sterling Renaissance Festival are each 4 miles away.  Gas station and farm store (Ontario Orchards -- great home-baked pies there!) are each 3 miles away. Sterling Creek Canoe- Kayak Launch - 3.5 miles.  Fair Haven Beach State Park and Little Sodus Bay - 7.5 miles.  City of Oswego and NY State University - 6 miles. And, if you are of that persuasion, the nearest McDonald's and Subway are 7 miles and Walmart is 10 miles away. Because I could be anywhere on the property and I would like to be available when you arrive, please advise me if you know you will be arriving after 5 PM.  All revenue from camping goes back into the property to continue to improve your experience. While we are open to winter camping, the farm road is on a hill that must be navigated to reach the campsites. In snowy or icy (or extremely muddy) conditions this may prove impossible for a typical vehicle and even give some 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicles some trouble. There is room at the bottom of the hill for off road parking for one vehicle. It would then require hiking up about 500 feet to reach campsites. Also, when the weather is dropping below freezing (which could be between late October -- early May), you are advised to bring your own water as water left overnight will freeze. Please take responsibility for the energy you bring to this space. Campfires are encouraged but bonfires are not allowed. If you are unsure, just ask. This is also a 'leave nothing but footprints' campsite. We do not have trash removal. Nearby activities include horse back riding, biking, hiking and boating.

A very nice camp site (#2). This is located down a rural road that is a little rough. The area was quiet. Nathan stopped in after we got set up and talked to us about some local attractions, which, unfortunately, we were not able to visit. There definitely will be a next time. Very easy access to the site with large gravel drives and pads.

We had a great time staying at Little Spring Haven. Nate was an excellent host and made sure we had everything we needed as well as giving us recommendations for things to do and places to visit. The site was quiet and peaceful. Just what we needed to close out our final camping trip of the season. We plan to come back next year!

4 nights at Spring lake retreat on the farm

We had such a wonderful birthday trip on Tommy’s land and in the surrounding area. Our site was the hilltop overlooking the rolling hills on one side and the forest on the other. It was perfect! Very private although the other site down the hill wasn’t occupied. They are spread apart quite a ways and both have picnic tables and fire rings. Tommy and his wife, Laura, both very nice and generous hosts, brought us plenty of free wood for our stay. Upon check-in, he greeted us and was very hospitable, offering suggestions for area must-sees for scenery, parks, wineries, food etc. They do offer usage of a flush toilet and sink in the end of their house, if desired. We’re pretty self-contained campers and didn’t utilize them. The property is very neat and clean in a rural area. We especially loved seeing the horse and cows each day as we are both originally from small farming towns. We would highly recommend this Hipcamp to anyone wanting a serene getaway with beautiful landscape and gracious host. Was a perfect trip! While you’re here, check out the Chimney Bluffs on Lake Ontario. They are super cool!

Weekend Trip to Camp on the Organic Blueberry Pond!

We came up for the Columbus Day weekend to get one final go at filling the freezer with salmon for the year. The River did not disappoint as we had some of the best fishing in years. The camping spot was perfect for what we needed as well. Ample space to position and set up our pop-up camp. Bathroom and water were close by, as well was use of a pavilion and blackstone (though we did use them). Firewood and a ring were provided at our site. Drinking water was provided at the roadside store. Hosts were very accommodating, personable, and eager to show us around. Thanks again.

This was a great spot!! Nathan and his family were so wonderful. Google sent us to the wrong spot and Nathan was very quick to answer the phone and direct us to the campsite. A wonderful spot on a quiet road that goes right to the lake. Very level site with electric hookups, picnic table and fire pit. Pitcher pump on the property was a bonus. We had the full moon the night we were there and it was amazing. Unfortunately, we were only there for one night and we had a problem with our dogs so we didn't get to explore as much as we would have liked. We will definitely be back.

7 nights at 1566 Q.C.A Quiet Country Acres

My family and I tent camped with our fearless corgi for a week here and it was an amazing experience. The site is set just off a quiet country road surrounded by corn fields with easy access to the lake and Pulaski. Most of the traffic we saw was horse drawn Amish buggies. We made great use of the gazebo and picnic table on location as well as the campfire pit. Toni provided trash pickup and some firewood for us throughout the week which was completely unexpected but an awesome little touch. We were able to observe plenty of wildlife while just sitting at the campfire to include deer, fox, birds and even a couple of coyotes (who were no match for the corgi who chase them off…lol). We highly recommend Toni and her Hipcamp spot. We will be booking again next year and probably bring a camper to take advantage of the full onsite hookup.

Weekend Trip to Little Spring Haven

Amazing peace and serenity! Located on a lake access road with very few lake homes made for very little traffic. Far enough from city lights made for awesome star gazing. No hunting down firewood. Nathan has wood available with easy access and super fair price. Perfect location for us, as it is easy access to many wineries, and a few distilleries and craft breweries. Short drive to Walkins Glen for great scenic hiking with waterfalls in a nice town. Road bikes and enjoyed the challenging rolling hills. Peaceful with only two very large sites, both immaculately maintained, with nothing else near them. Cute little creek and a large open field behind the site. We always appreciate sites with level pads, and the pads are nice and wide for for our 35 ft 5th wheel. Always a bonus, as many private campgrounds struggle, but the electric hook up is well done and checked out perfect with my tester. We had no issues camp not having water or dump station. Coming from the North, we utilized a free station at an RV dealership nearby. Amazing spot to get away from society, yet still be able to do things life offers!

Weekend Trip to Sunswick Farm

We loved this little cabin! All I wanted for my birthday was a couple days in the woods, and this place was exactly what I needed. You can hear the water from the stream as you fall asleep at night, and the cabin was nice and cozy during a rainy afternoon. This was the perfect place to unplug, sit by the fire, and recharge. We will definitely be back!
