Nestled in the foothills of the Fingerlakes, just 15 minutes outside of Ithaca, we are grateful to share this charming 10 acre property with you. On clear nights, the skies at Starry Fields are an endless marvel, with thousands of stars in view.
A gentle stream runs along the back of the property, with mown paths leading to our outhouse with a compostable toilet, a fully enclosed off-grid outdoor shower with on-demand hot water, and a fire pit. Bordered on the front side of the property by a local road for easy access.
We offer a 16'x18' crest tent on a raised wooden platform with a 6' covered porch, perfect for a peaceful meal, reading, or a game of cards.
For those who prefer to pitch their own tent, there is an 8'x8' wooden platform available by the creek.

About the Property: Our unique property boasts quiet camping on a beautifully manicured MotoTrials Riding and Obstacle Play Course. 2025 marked our first year offering camping to the public, and we look forward to HipCampers joining us in our unique venue. All 4 camping sites are nestled into the Obstacle course. Trials riders and non-Trials Riders alike will find much to enjoy here. Campers unfamiliar with Trial are welcome to take advantage of a Lesson on one of our Rental Bikes, while the Obstacle Course is also super-fun on foot (for walks or runs), mountain bike, trials bicycle, or for playing with your RC toy! We have night lighting to turn on at your request, even if just to sit in the evening and enjoy the lights reflecting off the pond-We surely do! We are located on NY 38 but our traffic is not obnoxious (Log and Milk Trucks, Farm Tractors and Commuters). It is very peaceful here. Your camping can be as private, quiet and leisurely as you wish. The views and big sky are gorgeous in our corner of farm country. Our small pond (tho not suitable for fishing or swimming) provides entertainment w/ turtle sunbathing raft and lots of nature's visitors. Pets always welcome off-leash with your guidance. About the Trials Riding: Sundays are a practice day or Event day. We host 4 Mototrial Events each season (see below) and if spectating appeals, you can plan your trip to coincide. You're in for a treat if you've never seen these nimble motorcycles do their 'thing'... up, over, and around the obstacles. Events are busy and exciting, but no worries (!) trials bikes are not loud. Riders are friendly and considerate. If spectating not your thing- no worries. Non-event/non-practice days are quite laidback. If Trials riders come here for additional practice (or instruction) it's not loud or invasive, nor interferes with any camper training or play on the course. When riders are here (barring Events or Sunday Practice ), it's typically only 2-4 at once. Multiple activities co-exist nicely, as there is plenty of room for all. There are many days no one is on the course at all (!) and you may have it all to yourself or possibly with another camper. Hope to see you in our slice of heaven! Thanks for having us!! I must say your cabin was perfect! Secluded and no neighbors, much room for the dogs to run on your private, well maintained property!
The cabin was extremelyclean and spacious. The wifi worked great and the big TV came in handy for the rainy day. We couldn't have asked for a cozier place to stay. 2 nights at Tryals Park Camp & Obstacle Course
This was my second time staying at the little barn on the hill and my first solo trip there. It was a rainy autumn afternoon when I showed up but perfectly cozy inside the hayloft, where I set up my hammock. Laurel got me acquainted with the many new amenities, as they seem to always be making wonderful upgrades to the property. Mike and Laurel's land is the perfect place for me to go when I don't want the hassle of setting up my tent and want a wall and roof and a little electricity. To a tenter, this is a luxurious paradise and I can't wait to return.

Weekend Trip to Tryals Park Camp & Obstacle Course
Staying at Mike’s and Laurel’s property was an amazing getaway! Close to great food and cute towns, less than 5 minutes from an amazing state park, and less than a half an hour away from Ithaca and some of the finger lakes! We also had an absolute riding Trial Motorcycles for the first time! I recommend the scavenger hunt to get familiar with the property and the Trial biking course.

Came again for Obstacle Course (see July review-tent at Hilltop). Great training with my border collie. My gal brought mountain bike this time to play. A good time for all. Highly recommend for training and fun to walk in evenings. First time renting Barn was awesome, just as described-better even. Several steps up from tent but still open-air. Thought about plugging in space heater (provided) but decided we didn't want to close up loft. Really nice at night. We were cozy enough in our sleeping bags just like our tent-but with futon mattress underneath us-and dry. Location near Rt. 38 wasn't issue for road noise for us. Description spot on about traffic 'not obnoxious' and I think muffled some by hillside trees too. Any traffic heard from road--just went along in a gentle rhythm -- like everything else here. Hosts are super accommodating in every way. Old school people who are there when you need 'em and leave you alone when you don't. The only possible drawback was being asked not to eat inside Barn. I'm a crackers-in-bed kinda guy- but I understand it- and appreciate what the Hosts do to keep critters and bugs out of Barn. Likely it ain't easy in this country setting- so no problem. The weather was a little damp outside but we built fire in the fire bowl and enjoyed warm supper just fine. It IS camping after all (!) my girl reminded me. Our dog of course was fine with the outside eating rule. Will be back again (and again) great place great hosts.

2 nights at Tryals Park Camp & Obstacle Course
Mike and Laurel are awesome hosts. Great dark place for star gazing. I was up looking at late looking at the Milky Way. You Cant see that near a city. The cabin/shed was cool. Everything you need even a small fridge, flash light, water, outdoor faucet, sun heated shower and a place to charge phone. The outside looks like a resort. Got to see a green heron. Dont know about the WiFi but had great cell service.
Don’t pass this by if you’re a camper. Way better than putting up a tent.

What a cool piece of land this is! And you couldn't ask for better hosts than Laurel and Mike! Even before I booked, they were going above and beyond to make the trip special for my son and I. The barn, while delightfully rustic, had SO many amenities and was incredibly cozy. I opted to hang a hammock in the hayloft (THANK YOU BOTH FOR THE EYE HOOKS!!!) and sleeping in it in front of the open door overlooking the stars reflecting on the pond was magical. My son slept on the first floor and said that he was so comfortable. The obstacle course was a ton of fun for my son to ride his mountain bike around and just play around on. We loved walking down to the pond and watching the giant snapping turtle rest on the raft and the huge bullfrog tadpoles swimming around. We genuinely can't wait to be back!

Weekend Trip to Tryals Park Camp & Obstacle Course
We enjoyed staying in “the barn” on Mike and Laurels Tryals Park property. It’s incredible, everything about staying there made for a perfect moto trials weekend. The views from up on the hill are beautiful and you’re right in the middle of the riding courses. I took 2 lessons from Mike and learned so much about what my weaknesses were and I know what I need to work on now. We’re 61 years old and my wife has balance issues so Laurel made sure to bring her a walking stick to watch me learn from the pro (Mike) The barn is very cozy, it’s actually more like a cottage with the upstairs loft. Very clean and welcoming. It’s just a perfect place to spend as long as you prefer. If you’re into motorcycle trials riding this is the place to be and the rv sights in addition to the barn assure that you won’t be driving around to hotels. One stop shop for trials lovers!! They have several different riding areas for different skill levels and a nice shop stocked with parts. Mike and Laurel are unique people. They are just the nicest people you could ever meet and call great friends. We’re going to book the barn again several times in the future as my lessons and first events progress. Your going to love this place and the awesome people running it!

1 night at Tryals Park Camp & Obstacle Course
My wife and I are on a 3 week trip with our dog. We intended on sleeping in a tent every night. This trip was to be as close to Nature as possible. Last night we just couldn't bear the thought of another 'wet tent' night and we landed here. So happy we did. The description is pretty spot on. It's a primitive shell that's been gussied up nicely. Was comfy and we loved that this more comfortable-and DRY departure from our tenting- didn't ruin our goal of being close to Nature-we still totally were. Morning was spectacular. Bird sounds greeted us. A Robin's nest (3 babies) above the toilet tent. Goose family -9-gently floating on the pond. Turtles climbing onto the raft after the storm. Bull Frogs serenading. Laurel showed us a small area (she had fenced in yesterday) on the hill below the barn- where she thought a painted turtle had laid her eggs. She also recounted a funny story of a handyman (in the past) who was found returning turtles to the pond- assuming they had lost their way. Imagine frustration for Mama turtle after that (well-intentioned misguided) good deed! And the faint scent of the Locust blossoms was "Just Lovely" according to my wife. Our off-leash four legged travel companion loved it too and my only regret is that we don't have more time to spend here. Hospitality and feeling of "make yourself at home" was high here. If "the right camper finds it heaven here" as per the description of the Barn...then we were the right campers. Highly recommend

Cayuga and Owasco Lakes
East of Seneca Lake, adventurous campers can choose between walk-in sites or enjoy backcountry tent sites in the Finger Lakes National Forest. Hiking trails, wineries, and waterfalls dot the shores of Cayuga Lake. Neighboring Owasco Lake is a water sports hotspot, where boating, fishing, and water skiing are the main activities.
Onondaga County
Woodland tent camping, lakeside fishing, and a renowned craft beer scene await at the eastern edge of the Finger Lakes Region. Syracuse is the county’s largest city, but there are also plenty of ways to explore the outdoors. Cruise Skaneateles Lake by boat or kayak, discover tranquil fishing spots at Lake Otisco, or enjoy seasonal camping in Green Lakes State Park.
Western Lakes
To the west of the Finger Lakes region, the “little lakes” of Conesus, Hemlock, Canadice, and Honeoye are where to escape the crowds.
