The camp was first built in 1905 by Dr. Goldsmith and family. The doctor and his family used the camp for summer vacations. During the winter the camp was rented out as winter hotel for loggers. Ice was harvested from the pond and stored in what is now one of the cabins. When our family bought the place, the hotel was falling down and the buildings were in disrepair. Geoffrey, the family caretaker, has spent the last few years cleaning up the site. All that remains now of the hotel is the chimney while the ice house has become a cabin and has been improved and ready for visitors. We have a double futon, small wood stove and gas burners for a cozy indoor experience. With 840 ft of pond frontage and 4.4 acres you can pitch a tent on the banks of the pond, up in the woods, or stay in the small cabin all are included in the cost of booking! Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Year round fishing has long been a tradition. The spring fed pond is home to large and small mouth bass, northern pike, crappy, and blue gills. There are a number of ponds and state lands nearby. Accommodations include two outhouses and two docks so no waiting. There is a canoe and rowboat available and life jackets. The camp is car accessible Mid-May to the end of September. There are summer cottages across the pond but not much happening on our side. Cedar Lodge, the nearest bar/restaurant, is about 5 minutes away and very popular all year round. The closest gas station and convenience store is about 20 minutes in the village of Parishville.

He was also an artist and his original watercolors still adorn its walls. We are only the third owners in nearly 100 years and we have been building cherished memories there for decades. We have made improvements to the property while retaining its charm. There is one P/T neighbor who shares our driveway but the property provides privacy. We are adjacent to a NYS Forest Preserve and surrounded by woods. Sites are available to explore within walking distance and a small museum in Saranac Lake is worth the trip. Lastly, there is a cool antique store within a few miles whose owner is always available for conversation about the area. There is a huge field next to the cabins, a nearby pond and private trails to explore! | THE CABINS | Main Cabin: One larger cabin, consisting of a living room, full kitchen (dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, and toaster), laundry room with washer and dryer. Three bedrooms (2 king beds & 1 queen bed), two full bathrooms (one en-suite) with standup showers and one large bathtub. Two of the bedrooms have closets. The main cabin is not heated and space heaters will be provided during any colder months (Spring/Fall). Mini Cabins: Four small log cabins spread out in a row, underneath a canopy of beautiful pine trees! The cabins are spaced far enough that there is enough privacy in-between each one. The cabins come equipped with power, WIFI, Roku TVs, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, screened-in porches, AC units, ceiling fans and outdoor water hookups. They each comfortably sleep between 2-3 adults. Cabins are not heated. Space heaters are provided during colder months (Spring/Fall). Cabin # 66: Full size bed Cabin # 64: Full size bed & Twin size bed Cabin # 62: Queen size bed & Twin size bed Cabin # 60: Queen size bed Guests can bring their own bedding and towels. Or, can request that sheets and towels are provided (free of charge). *The smaller cabins do not have running water or bathrooms. Water pumps are available outside each cabin, meant for bringing in your own water if you wish to. There is a bathhouse with separate men’s and women’s bathrooms and showers a short walk from the cabins. *Please note although the cabins are outfitted with modern amenities, they still have a rustic camp-like feel* *RVs are welcome and can be easily parked next to the cabins. There is only water hookups available outside the four smaller cabins. The site is not a pull-through, so RVs would have to turn around at the end of the driveway* | THE BATHHOUSE | Across from the four smaller cabins is a bathhouse, featuring men's and women's sides. Each side has two bathroom stalls, one stand up shower and double sinks. | THE GRASSE RIVER | The Grasse River is a 73 mile-long river, mainly flowing northeast from the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains into the St. Lawrence Valley. Stocked with brown trout, native brook trout, smallmouth bass and rock bass. Follow the trails from the campground to the river, where you can picnic, fish and relax! *Swimming is at guests’ own risk. The river’s current depends on the season or how much rain the area has received. While exploring the banks of the river you will find faster and slower areas.* | THE POND | There is a private trail which leads to a small pond. The pond is perfect for exploring by canoe or kayak. There are a few channels which lead to other trails on the property. *Several other properties have access to the pond. However, we have yet to see anyone else using the pond - it is very quiet! The pond is not meant for swimming* | THE TRAILS | There are multiple private trails leading to the river, into the woods and the pond. If you enjoy being in nature, these trails are truly lovely to walk/run/bike and enjoy! They are also extremely wide and well-groomed. We have added Adirondack chairs at certain end points. | THE FIELD | A large field abuts the smaller cabins. The property can comfortably sleep 16 adults, maximum occupancy allowed is 25 guests at any time on the premises. Please confirm how many adults, children and pets will be staying in your initial reservation message. Basic cookware (coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans and silverware) provided in the main house. All small cabins have coffee makers/mugs. Four complimentary sets of golf clubs are available to use to play at the local courses. In addition, four tennis rackets are provided. Exterior security cameras (filming and recording) are on the property, facing main entrance points, main cabin driveway and field. *Please note: There is a sixth cabin set further back towards the front of the property (#61), this cabin is not for use. There are also a few odd structures in the woods on the property. These include an old school bus, outhouse and small shed. They are not for use and are more permanent fixtures… Water is well water.

Wonderful spot and view! We were the only ones there which was great as the sites are very close together. They are not in the field anymore and lined up side by side. We’re not sure how we would have liked it if others were there. But the views were awesome. We do travel with our dog and there are a lot of dog walkers especially in the evening. Most are respectful and keep their dogs on leash but not everyone and we did have a dog run up to us while we were in our screen tent having dinner with our dog. We wish people would respect the rules but there’s always people who don’t. We were there mid September.

Weekend Trip to Adirondack Adventure Base

Woodland Grove Camping at Adirondack Adventure Base is such a gem. The property is calm, pristine, and full of charm with cute little trails to wander right on-site. It feels like a perfect mix of peaceful and fun. Bob and Sheila are the kindest, most thoughtful hosts, and it was such a treat getting to spend time with them. Mim is just the coolest human being ever and made the stay even more special. We also got to try their maple syrup, which truly was the best we’ve ever had. The spot is also in an ideal location, just a short drive to Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, and some of the most beautiful hiking and sightseeing in the Adirondacks. We left already talking about when we’ll come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable Adirondack stay.

My husband, 2 dogs, and I had a fantastic time at this property on Sterling Pond!! It really is secluded and private, with only a couple waves to people passing on boat. My older dog who has never been able to be trusted off leash was even able to just drag her leash around because the space was so big and peaceful!! I am usually distrustful of cabins that hang out somewhat unoccupied in the woods (bugs and small animals housing usually), even brought a tent for back up, but the cabin was SO clean and beautiful. Perfect for our small little family and we felt safe and comfortable hanging out and sleeping in there. You can tell Tedra and Geoff love and care for the property a lot, as well as the people staying there. When we arrived the windows of the cabin were opened so the breeze had a chance to cool the inside which was much appreciated!! We printed driving directions to Catamount Mountain ahead of time which was a beautiful short hike. My husband was in fishing paradise! Fishing right off the dock or in the rowboat available, they wouldn’t stop biting! They also had a book there that helped us identify what fish he was catching! You are definitely off grid at this place which was a really nice break for my husband and I whose phones are usually going off nonstop. Can’t say enough nice things. If you’re looking for a fishing paradise, dog paradise, peace and quiet, and don’t mind a few bugs, this is the place to be. 10/10 recommend.

A nice four site HipCamp overlooking the St Lawrence River and Canada. It looks like they are working on adding utilities. We had a nice constant breeze from the west that kept us cool. It is a public park so you will see others and a lot of people took advantage of the open campsites for the river view. There were also a lot of dogs off lead so watch where you step. The cut pasture made for a nice hiking trail and the beach and playground areas looked nice. We didn’t need it, but we never found where to get potable water or where to discard your trash bag at the beach keepers cabin.

Lovely clean and comfortable cabin, 15 min from Saranac Lake and 30 min from Lake Placid. Gracious and communicative hosts. This is the second year in a row that we have stayed here and hope to return again next year. One note: The fridge is a large dorm-size fridge w/a tiny freezer section, so if you have ice packs you want to refreeze or keep frozen, you might want to grab a bag of ice to put in a cooler when you are near the cab

The view is amazing. James, the host gets back to you quickly with answers your questions. I loved watching the sunset and the barges going by. The restrooms are clean and available during the day. There is swimming in the park on the same property and a wonderful playground if you bring kids. They have made a lot of improvements to the campsites including rock driveway and pads. I very nice park.

The cabin was a nice experience, roomy, and had everything needed. The screened in porch was great, gave us some shelter from the critters and the firepit helped as well! Kitchen area is very usable, one hotplate was handy but if you plan to do significant cooking bring a stove. Fit 4 people between the full bed, the futon, and the included cot. Firewood and eggs were a nice touch!
