Underhill Inn is a small homestead located in the Finger Lakes region tucked in the rolling hills near Dryden Lake. We have a small garden, a flock of sheep and chickens, hives of honeybees and countless wild foraging on our 36 acres of pasture and hiking trails. Take a walk down to Brockendock pond and cruise across the water in a canoe or paddleboat to find peepers, heron, toads and turtles. Drop a line in the water to catch trout, bass and sunnies. The chicken coop is always bustling and there are plenty of eggs to harvest each day. A morning hike on the trails usually kicks up the deer and wild turkeys and at night the barn owl will sing for you if you listen close. Towner's Country Paradise started out as a wild forest and pasture for cows in the 1940's, owned by Llewellyn Towner. In the 1960s, Llewellyn's love for aviation led him to construct a small airstrip and hangar, and then his son Terry began to plant Christmas Trees (no more cows) and clear much of the land. By the early 1970's our main and largest pond was built and since that time our fully functional cabin, several more fish ponds, roads, trails, running water and generated electricity have been added. When visiting the Seneca Lake area of the Finger Lakes region, nature lovers, race enthusiasts, wine and beer lovers, and vacationers alike will discover authentic charm in one of a kind log cabins. Originally built in the 1920's for early visitors, the Rustic Log Cabins are one of the oldest lodging establishments in the area.
All four of our cabins have a great farmers porch on which to relax and enjoy your favorite local wine or beer and watch gorgeous sunsets over Seneca Lake. Afterwards sit by your own fire pit and enjoy a quiet and starry evening - a feature of cabin life that our guests tell us brings them back year after year. The cabins are situated on three beautiful park-like acres with plenty of room for games of all kinds. The view from the grounds takes in an apple orchard, rolling vineyards and Seneca Lake - a perfect setting for a small wedding or reunion if you rent all four cabins.
Built of whole pine logs all four are spacious one-room cabins with electricity, hardwood floors and stone fireplaces. The cabins are equipped with table, chairs, comfortable beds, dressers, stove and fridge. Two of the cabins will accommodate three persons and the other two will accommodate up to 6 people. A Bath House in the center of the campsite is convenient to all four cabins and contains a separate mens and women section with showers, toilets and sinks. Guests are encouraged to provide their own towels and bed linens to avoid per bed linen fee.
The Rustic Log Cabins are located on the east side of Seneca Lake on Route 414 in the town of Hector. We are central to the Finger Lakes National Forest, wineries & breweries, Watkins Glen State Park and also the towns of Corning, Geneva, Ithaca, Seneca Falls and Hammondsport NY.
We are open May through October.

Weekend Trip to Christmas Tree Farm Hidden Delight
We had an amazing last-minute stay at Mary’s place. Our pups loved having the freedom to roam off leash, and it was so nice to relax by the tent and take in the fall scenery. The woodstove kept us cozy all night, and Mary was very kind and responsive throughout our stay. We’ll definitely be back!

Our experience at The Christmas Tree Farm Hidden Delight was absolutely wonderful. Mary was a fantastic host. She was friendly and thorough in her communication, even recommending places to enjoy in the area. We arrived later in the day and were thrilled that she had started a fire in the woodstove inside the tent and had also started a campfire for us. So very thoughtful and a fabulous surprise. The site itself is incredibly private with amazing views. The firewood she provided was dry and plentiful, a bonus since it was a bit chilly for much of our visit. It was great to be able to have the dogs off leash too. We enjoyed our time immensely and highly recommend the site. Thank you, Mary!

Wonderful time. Tiny house met all of our needs of us two parents and two teenagers. Very clean. Canoeing on the small pond was nice. Picking blueberries was wonderful. Plenty of room to yourself between tiny house and the other places they rent out. And plenty of parking. Easy to get to the main road.

We loved our time at Bear Creek Haven. The cabin is extremely nice, there are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Including the bunk beds, there are 4 double beds which theoretically could sleep 8 people. We had a slightly larger crew than that, so some folks put up tents outside or hammocks in the trees. Overall, we were very comfortable. There was even an air conditioner and fans provided in the cabin, most definitely a welcome addition!
The cabin is just a short drive from many wineries and breweries. We checked out Americana Vineyards, Finger Lakes Cider House, Scale House Brewing, and Lively Run Dairy (they have cheese flights, and you can pet goats!) Overall, it was a great experience and we look forward to staying there again in the future.
One suggestion I have is improving the directions to be more detailed, we did get a little lost when getting in. Here are the more detailed directions that I sent friends to ensure they could find the cabin: “ Once you are on Pitcher Rd you are basically going to take it to the end and then veer right at the signs. As you are going down the road you will pass the mailboxes on your right, go through the Stone bridge overpass, pass several Amish houses. Go all the way down gravel road, til you get to the signs, turn right and then left to follow bear creek haven trail.”

We had a great stay - the cabins are centrally located for most hikes, only 30 mins from Ithaca 40 mins from Corning. The cabin was spacious, had very comfortable beds, fans and other helpful amenities. The bathrooms are quite nice too. Jackie was a good host, met us at the start and even lent us a few of her own kitchen supplies so we could make eggs and breakfast. Know that you should bring your own grill and cooking supplies, and chairs for around the fire if you want. It’s right off a somewhat busy road and you can hear car’s, but we slept well. We would definitely return.

Our family (including our little corgi!) loved our week in the tiny house! We loved taking our furry family member on our morning walk around the pond followed by coffee on the porch. We had a great campfire evening and loved the well-designed fire circle area and benches! We were grateful for the air conditioning in the unit and overhead fan, as were visiting during a heat wave. We had dinner for 4 on the picnic bench right outside and used the grill 2 nights. We handpicked blueberries for our last breakfast. Everyone had warm showers, there were plenty of towels and all beds had clean linens and were comfortable. We watched the Pirates of the Caribbean Blu-Ray that was in the house for the rainy night in. The location was perfect for our day trips to Watkins Glen, Greek Peak Adventures, and Ithaca. I hope we will be able to return for our next finger lakes adventure - we all really loved this property and checking out the sheep in the fields!

We loved our experience! The property is spacious, private and quiet. We took advantage of riding in a canoe and fishing on the pond. I have to brag that I out fished my husband 4-1 during the hour we were out. The property is close to town when we didn’t feel like cooking or needed supplies. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen supplied, the AC worked like a champ and the blueberries on their Upick farm.. OMG they were fantastic. Rick is super responsive and we enjoyed talking with him. This was my first booking with Hipcamp and I’m so glad I took the chance on this place. If you are looking for a glamping experience, the Tiny House is just what you need!
