Leishman point is owned by the Town of Waddington and was created during the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Dredge spoils were transported and placed creating a tract of land
that rises 50 feet above the river and surrounding lands.
The New York Power Authority acquired the property from the Leishman's who owned and operated a farm on the surrounding lands.
In 2000, the New York Power Authority deemed the property surplus and conveyed it to the Town of Waddington.
This Hip-Camp endeavor is hopefully our first step in creating a fully functional RV Park and campsite for everyone to enjoy.

Located adjacent to our horse farm, Hipcampers are welcome to hike on our trails. We offer horse back riding and carriage driving lessons. Conveniently located between the St Lawrence Seaway and the foothill Adirondacks there are lots or opportunities for outdoor recreation. There are plenty of hikes for all abilities and duration. If paddling is more your thing our county has 3 of the 10 longest rivers in NYS along with lakes and reservoirs. There are also nearby mountain bike trails, and we are not far from the St Lawrence County Multi Use Trail. While there are many interesting and interactive destinations close by, larger cultural destinations such as Ottawa or Montreal make great day trips.

the site had everything we needed! It wasn't exactly as pictured but none the less, we enjoyed the solitude, time admiring the horses, taking in the fall foliage on trail walks - we had fun. The owner was very nice, and was there to welcome us.

Wonderful spot and view! We were the only ones there which was great as the sites are very close together. They are not in the field anymore and lined up side by side. We’re not sure how we would have liked it if others were there. But the views were awesome. We do travel with our dog and there are a lot of dog walkers especially in the evening. Most are respectful and keep their dogs on leash but not everyone and we did have a dog run up to us while we were in our screen tent having dinner with our dog. We wish people would respect the rules but there’s always people who don’t. We were there mid September.

Great camping site with plenty of area. Lots of locals hanging out at night and unattended dogs visiting the campsite. Wasn’t as private as we would have liked but that was due to others not necessarily the campsite itself.

Spent 4 days there and loved everything about it.It was our first time boon docking but we managed.The grounds are nicely kept up and the scenery is beyond anything that I have seen.Especially the ships..We will be back thank you so much.

A nice four site HipCamp overlooking the St Lawrence River and Canada. It looks like they are working on adding utilities. We had a nice constant breeze from the west that kept us cool. It is a public park so you will see others and a lot of people took advantage of the open campsites for the river view. There were also a lot of dogs off lead so watch where you step. The cut pasture made for a nice hiking trail and the beach and playground areas looked nice. We didn’t need it, but we never found where to get potable water or where to discard your trash bag at the beach keepers cabin.

The view is amazing. James, the host gets back to you quickly with answers your questions. I loved watching the sunset and the barges going by. The restrooms are clean and available during the day. There is swimming in the park on the same property and a wonderful playground if you bring kids. They have made a lot of improvements to the campsites including rock driveway and pads. I very nice park.

Wonderful place to stay. Quiet and peaceful. Peggy gave us a tour of the farm. Trail walks along the pasture fences with horses coming up to us. Lots of shade and some sun. Close to towns but in the country. Hosts were great. Came to meet us and were very helpful.

We loved this unique site on a peninsula bluff jutting right into the St. Lawrence River. It's very open so there are sweeping views of the river and of Canada across the way, and we were treated to a beautiful sunset. We had a nice conversation with the manager of the park (and his dog) about future campsite developments. We really enjoyed our overnight here.
