We Are an Organic Garden ( Urban Permaculture ) that you can stay inside a magical, growing goodness space .
This place is very, very private .
The parking area is not private . Our road is dead end , very low traffic .
The garden wall around the whole tent area has a 6 foot tall , very thick wall , and trees , surrounding every thing.
There is a forest and pond for ducks behind the garden .
Our place is for Wildlife, to be fed, and given water and safe space to raise young. We are located in an area where the birds of the world fly from the north to the south and then change direction each season. Many lizards . Many wild mammals . There are many farms in the area. With Horses , goats , chickens , ducks , mules, donkeys , other livestock .
We have no pets and no livestock.
At night this is dark ( we do have solar lights on walk ways ) and it is peaceful. A safe zone for travelers . Serene , gentle and lovely . You get your privacy .
New Mexico is so amazing, all year . We have inside space in Fall / Winter .

If you're looking for a quick stay while passing through Albuquerque, I have a spot for you! I'm in the process of putting back together and repairing a small house, and in the meantime, it makes for great indoor camping. There’s no shower, but the toilet and hot water work.
It’s pretty bare-bones — that’s why I call it camping — but there’s a bed, a table, and some chairs. Pets are okay too! I’m about 3 miles from Old Town.

Our stars shine brighter than most, and coyote songs will remind you that you're dwelling amongst the high desert wildlife.The 1 3/4 mile road to Little Dancing Horse Ranch is not for everyone. I will reiterate this a couple times in this listing to make sure people understand that we live on a rocky, dirt road. Some folks find it not to be a big deal while others do. Most vehicles most of the time can make it fine if it's taken slowly although high clearance vehicles are ideal. During the rare big rain or snow 4 wheel drive may be needed. It's advisable to check the weather in advance.

The camp was founded 40 years ago as a summer camp for kids. We continue to offer camps for children and their parents and grandparents (family camps), as well as welcome adults and other groups to enjoy the vast and wild high desert nature up on this ridge.

There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our land to enjoy various level hiking trails including a 20 minute hike to a creek and waterfall in the forest (some steep spots and creek is intermittent) or climb up Shaggy Peak (seasoned hikers only please).
IMPORTANT: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road (with 5-7+% grade in a few short stretches) and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy and rutted ( 4-wheel or All-trak recommended in certain times of year). We don’t guarantee the road will be plowed.
We generally close for the season due to cold weather around Halloween and reopen just before Memorial Day.

This is a primitive shelter. There is no running water nor electricity (aside from a solar light). The solar will charge your phone, so bring your cord!
It's just like camping but with walls and a roof over your head - and the benefit of having no other campers around. You might see an occasional hiker with their dog. If you have a dog, take note. This site is completely fenced in so that your fur baby can safely roam.
There is no heating or cooling. The desert can get cold at night. With enough notice, a portable propane heater can be provided for an additional charge.
Hipcampers are kindly asked to park just outside our gate and embark on a picturesque 3/4 mile hike back to the shelter. The flat hike offers scenic views and adds to the adventure of your stay. PLEASE clean up after your pup.

This location was so much fun! Perfect views, and we were able to have a nice campfire in the morning. Nikki was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The location was gorgeous and in good driving distance of the national forests. Would absolutely visit again!

My boyfriend and I spent one night in one of the cabins on Nikki's land. Facilities were clean and as described and Nikki was excellent at communicating. I would suggest a 4WD car with some clearance, especially if it's raining or snowing because it's a longer drive on a dirt road. Overall great stay!

It was amazing! I loved the stay. The beds are very clean everything its well in organized along with a beautiful classic layout. The outside view is sooo beautiful during the sun rise and dawn. I really enjoyed it and me and my friend where so happy! And the bed is a very good size for two people to! And its soft. Toilets are clean and work well just like any home or public place

This was the perfect spot for my quick trip to Albuquerque. Tara was great with communication and the space was super cozy. Everything you might need for a good night's rest or more if you're needing a warm, safe, comfortable place to hang. The location is perfect for whatever your adventure brings, easy access to key spots on the city and beyond. Tara kindly provided bedding and the house has all the things you might need (minus a shower as she thoughtfully advertised). A great alternative to a vacation rental and better than camping (no gear required). Such a great offering!

Tara is a gracious host and I love staying at her place at the end of a dead end road. It was way more than indoor camping and the best deal in Albuquerque in my opinion. There is a microwave, small fridge, small coffee pot, toast oven and temperature controlled space. Tara is an interesting person too!

6 nights at Secluded Indoor Camping
Tara's place was more than I had hoped for for a place to sleep during the balloon festival and adventures around Albuquerque. It's in a quiet neighborhood and near old town. She provided a comfy bed, extra bedding, dining table and chairs, microwave, toaster oven, small fridge, kitchen sink and toilet. If you have extra people she'll also provide an extra mattress. Remember to bring mosquito repellent, as there are many mosquitos in the area.

Tara's place was great. Very clean and good vibes. Such a great idea to use the space whilst renovating. I stayed with my two toddlers and they loved it. We were going to camp in a field in town but we had to move quick and saved the effort of our camping gear.
Location is super central, close to downtown, old town and baloon fiesta park.
The area was very quiet and peaceful too.

Tara's home was a welcoming space, just as she described. She even checked with me before accepting my booking to see if I would feel comfortable.
She's put some thoughtful touches into making the home inviting and cozy. It is rustic and under renovation. Very cute and bikeable area of Albuquerque not far from the river.
