Now we welcome adults, and other groups to enjoy the vast and wild high desert nature up on this ridge. There are beautiful views and access to Shaggy Peak, the southernmost tip of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Wander our land to enjoy various level hiking trails including a 20 minute hike to a creek and waterfall in the forest (some steep spots and creek is intermittent) or climb up Shaggy Peak (seasoned hikers only please). NOTE: We are up 1.3 miles of dirt road and are not near public transportation so you will need your own vehicle! Be aware that the roads can be snowy, icy or muddy and rutted ( 4-wheel or All-trak recommended in certain times of year). We don’t guarantee the road will be plowed.

The sites are packed dirt that have been leveled somewhat to accommodate RVs. With significant rain, the Park does get muddy. All vehicles are asked to maintain low speeds (under 15mph) when traveling within the RV park to help with dust mitigation.

In the Tewa language, Tahiki means"where the grasslands meet the forest." It is one of the oldest pueblos, if not the oldest, pueblos in the United States. The natural feature of Padilla Ranch is it is located on the East slopes of the Manzano Mountain range and contains numerous pinon, junipers, pine and oakbrush trees that provide perfect environment for such wild life as elk and deer. The Tajique Creek runs through the Padilla Ranch & is generally a live stream and includes a dam which furnishes water for the Tajique acequia system (which is a historic irrigation system) . The Manzano Mountain wildness is located approximately 7 miles west of Padilla Ranch in the Cibola National forest where in the Fall, there is a large maple, oak and aspen forest, which is one of the largest in the country. The road to sites in the canyon are extremely rough a high clearance vehicle and 4x4 is recommended, also any camper past 18" is not recommended at these sites. Site's 1, 3, and 8 and 7 are ideal for camping trailers 30" or larger. Fire ban is in effect propane grills and fire pits are permitted.
