Loved it! A high open plain ringed with mountains: Mesa Verde and Ute close, Telluride, San Juans and Bears Ears on the horizon. Immaculately clean and generous kitchen and dining/hanging out areas. The tent/RV sites are very basic but the rest makes up. Great hosts, dark sky. Didn’t see inside the cabins but the hogan was lovely.

I car camped here and had a super sweet one-night stay where all my needs were met. The land is beautiful, gorgeous sunset and sunrise, and it was sweet to have communal space like the kitchen, showers, bathrooms, and more. The camp hosts were very sweet and welcoming! The campground has amenities that most campgrounds do not have, such as a communal kitchen and ICE 👍 Also, really appreciated the carport to provide some shade during a hot summer visit.
The campground itself was well laid out and quiet, even after families arrived, for 2 middle-aged folks. There was some minor issue with the hot water in the women's shower but otherwise the bathrooms were clean, well stocked, and centrally located. We will definitely be back (when there isn't a full moon) to watch the meteor showers, Kent!

I've stayed at this campground through 3 owners across the past 5+ years! I absolutely love staying here; especially with the new camp hosts who are incredibly groovy and kind. This campground is a great price and has a community kitchen, hot showers, games, a rock painting station, charging bank for phones, a hammock to read in, incredible stargazing, serenading sunsets, and a lot of cool stuff to explore within a short drive. I love this place and highly recommend it. I've stayed in the chapel, a tent site, and the cabins and I've had a wonderful stay in all of them. Thank you for having me! I'll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Bright Star Campground
An absolutely beautiful place to stop and rest! I roadtrip for running races and have always made it a point to stop here dating back to 2020. A unique and comfortable experience; this camp offer scenic sunsets, stargazing, a community kitchen, showers, games, a charging station, hammock to read in, rocks to paint, and the most kind camp hosts. We tent camped at View #2 for 2 nights with 2 couples and 2 tents. The campground is in a huge valley with spectacular views all around, including MV. The sunrises and sunsets were stunning.
The campground is a former summer camp so it has toilets, showers with hot water, a covered area with picnic tables, couches and a grill. Most importantly it has a kitchen for guests to use (more on that later).
Kent and Brandi are so accommodating, welcoming and laid back. We felt very welcome and loved spending time with their new puppy!
The camp is very convenient to Cortez and a half hour from MV.
Being situated in a large valley means there is no protection from the wind. We were thankful to have the kitchen and seating area. There is no way we could have used our camp stove either night due to fierce winds. The 2nd night we had a great monsoon around 5:00 but we stayed dry in the Ramada. Unfortunately around 8:00 there was a microburst right over camp. My box of kitchen items, including pots and pans, literally flew off the picnic table by our tent and smacked my husband in the head! It was an incredible storm with very windy conditions.
I would love to stay here again but, if there is any chance of bad weather, I would pay more to stay in one of the 4 teepees or a cabin. It's just a function of the terrain that nothing stops the wind.
I hope to visit again in the fall sometime as I would guess it would be cooler, less windy and just as stunning.

Amazing people and wonderful location. Absolutely stunning views and the chuck wagon kitchen was super fun.
We had a medical emergency come up and made last minute changes, everyone was super nice and understanding about the situation.

The views are beautiful, and the common area was a blast. My boys loved the ping pong table, I loved the convenience of the kitchen, and we had the added benefit of watching fireworks from this gorgeous location.
