On a working ranch, this campsite is located up a secluded arroyo off of the Hondo Valley and Rio Ruidoso in San Patricio, NM. This ranch is nearly 1400 acres total that is available for exploring and wildlife watching. During wildlife watching, it is possible that you could see roadrunners, squirrels, coyotes, rabbits, hawks, deer, elk, lizards, foxes, and many different types of song birds. A road south of the campsite is available for hiking down.Ruidoso and Ruidoso Downs are just over a 20 minute drive from this campsite. Historic Lincoln and Fort Stanton are a quick drive from this area as well. The Hurd Gallery can be visited by driving down the highway a couple miles. A fishing spot open to the public on the Rio Ruidoso is available for fishing just a few miles down the highway as well. It has been reported that this arroyo contained a cienega many years ago which was a marshy area fed by a spring, before groundwater wells ran it dry. Most cienegas are now extinct in the southwest. Sheep and Firewood were the main commodities produced off of this ranch before cattle became dominant. NM State Land is 640 of these acres which requires an annual permit for recreational use.

Your Camp Host, Chef Üdø, is onsite most days and evenings, and has 30 years' experience in the catering and private chef biz, and as a camp host. He's happy to coordinate hot meals for you and your companions! No more need to go into town to get a pizza or some icky fast food! We will make you a homemade pizza, dry-aged steak, brined chicken, smoked Wagyu burger, or lasagna...all in-house. Vegan, vegetarian, kosher, low-sodium, and most other dietary restrictions are no problem! Dusty Rabbit Van Life @ Schrimsher Ranch is an alternative camping and Star Gazing location just outside of ROSWELL, yet close to the open road. A great place to relax under the stars, have a camp fire, and kick back next to your travel rig after a long day. You might just want to crash for the night in a safe location out on the rangeland or stay a day or two to enjoy the land to walk, mountain bike antelope trails, and maybe even Sniffers the pronghorn antelope will find ya before you head out. This is a primitive site, so leave no trace practice is appreciated and pack in/out is how we do it here. If you come in the summer prepare the morning coffee early and enjoy the desert sun's rays hit the Capitan, but by 9am it will be hot, so be ready! Best star gazing and satellite watching in the world!
I have several sites to choose from. But remember to keep an eye on the wind and weather as it can get crazy out here sometimes…..!!! I try to keep the sites stocked with firewood, but fill free to bring your own.
Lonely Bull Camp 1 is my most popular site. It is very private and is easily accessible by most vehicles and campers.

Old Highway Camp is a great alternative if you want something closer to the highway and have a safe private place to pull over, camp, kickback, make a fire and get back to your life on the on the road in the morning. It is closer to the highway, but is quite at night and has great star gazing. Enjoy being greeted by The Mountain in the morning. Our front deck has a 2 person porch swing where you can enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an afternoon glass of wine. As frequent Airbnb guests we feel we have provided a great place for you to stay.

House:
We look forward to sharing our cabin, The Treehouse with you. We purchased and renovated this cabin as a full-time vacation rental and as a place for my husband and me to stay when we visit our daughter and her family. We have been coming to Ruidoso several times a year since they moved here. We love the beauty of the mountains and wildlife and look forward to sharing that with you.

We have 2 seating areas outside, 1 on the front deck and another on the back deck in addition to a gas grill and a hot tub.

There are 2 parking spots in the driveway.
Sleeping Areas:
The house sleeps up to 4 people, a queen bed in the bedroom and a sleeper couch in the living room. We also have a pack-and-play upon request. There is a small 4-drawer dresser and a closet with plenty of hangers to store your belongings. In addition to the mini-split heater in the living room there are 2 space heaters for the bedroom and the bathroom for the cooler months. For the warmer months the mini-split also has and air conditioner setting and there is a ceiling fan in the bedroom. We provide all pillows and bed linens.
Bathroom:
We have a full sized bathroom with a bathtub and shower. We provide towels, soap, lotion and toilet paper plus a blow dryer, iron, ironing board and luggage rack located in the closet which is also in the bathroom.
Living room:
Sink into our comfy couch or chair while watching tv or reading a book. We provide a phone charging station on the side table next to the couch. There are a variety of games which you can find on the side table by back door.

The kitchen is fully equipped for you to cook

This is a peaceful, well-maintained 40-acre private countryside property that is gated and fenced to exclude elk, deer, and large predators. A working pack of Australian Kelpie mix dogs roams the property and is friendly with people. The RV park is just a short drive from several lakes, Capitan and the Fort Stanton Historic Site.
Hunters are welcome as well! Open year round, Stone Mountain RV Park & Resort is located near hunting units 36 and 37. There is a game cooler, skinning rack and horse corrals on premises for hunters to use during their stay! There's so much to do, you might have to extend your trip!
Our park is located just minutes north of Ruidoso, New Mexico at 510 NM State Highway 37 at mile post marker 4. For those using GPS the coordinates are Latitude N33.487151 and Longitude W105.673027.
We have full hookup RV sites, $45 for 30amp and $55 for 50amp. We also have 2 cabins, a Lodge room and a rental camper available. New and improved internet/WiFi!

I loved glamping in El Campo! The views are stunning and the area is not completely isolated so you still feel safe that big foot won’t be strolling by. The hosts were quick to answer questions and the space provided was just as described! The beds were comfortable and plenty of blankets were available. The wild life is plenty and we even met some of the neighbors at the bottom of the mountain and got to pet their goats. Remember to take plenty of water and a cooler to keep it in as there is no fridge. There is a little country mountain store near by but it has limited options. I will definitely return and have already shared the listing with friends that are interested in staying.

This was a nice clean campground. We stayed for one night and visited White Sands and the Inn of the Mountain Gods. Very nice area and quiet at night. I would stay there again. David definitely knows his wine! We bought a bottle of his GOAT and loved it.

Chef Udo is an exceptionally warm and attentive host. The site was beautiful and convenient to White Sands. The stars were breathtaking and the sunrise views of the mountains were just as gorgeous.

My husband and I spent the weekend tent camping on the rv/tent site. We were the only ones. Quiet, dark and secluded. Clean bathhouse. Entire site is clean and well maintained ❤️ We saw ducks, deer and elk. There are turkeys above the tree-line. You can hear them, but we never saw the turkeys.

Great spot. Very private. Saw pronghorn. Previous campers may have left food because there were a lot of ants by the firepit and we had to move the firepit rocks to a different spot. There was also a lot of dog poop from previous inconsiderate campers who didn't bother to clean up after themselves.

Great trip at Midtown Mountain Campground! The host and fellow campers were friendly, the bathrooms were clean, and the esthetic of the campground was very fun. It is walking distance to downtown which makes it easy to explore the area without the hassle of finding parking. We will definitely come back here in the future!
