This picturesque family farm is conveniently located just 80 miles from both Manhattan and Albany. Riverside Farm offers 1600 feet of direct river access, ponds, rolling meadows and woodlands. You’ll have 50 acres of freedom to enjoy at your leisure. There are convenient walking paths cut throughout the property to help guide you. The farm is yours to explore, check out the beautiful, historical barns, old school hand water pumps, the old-world windmill and other hidden treasures. All the campsites have plenty of space between each other (roughly 300 ft), and they all have their own access points to the river.
We are approximately 1.5 miles from Angry Orchard Cider House. The new City Winery in Montgomery is minutes away. We are located right in the middle of the Shawangunk Wine Trail and have dozens of wineries and craft breweries within 20 miles of the farm. World class hiking trails and breathtaking views await at Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Mountain House, both just 15 miles away. The Bashakill Preserve is home to some of the best bird watching in the Northeast and is 5 miles away. The walkway over the Hudson and fine dining options at Newburgh's waterfront are also within a short 20 minute drive. The Shawangunk, Wallkill and Hudson Valley rail trails are easily accessible for those wanting to bike or jog. Camp Blackbird is a 28 acre property that runs along Beltzville State Park in Carbon County, PA. So besides the camp, there is an additional 3,002-acres of state park to explore. There are a total of 2 sites.
The land was vacant for decades and unfortunately used to dump household garbage during that time. We cleaned up the land, built a home and bat habitat. We, Sarah and Stein, always disliked renting a camp site somewhere and then ending up on top of people.
So it was our goal to make space on our land for campers like us that want to be surrounded by nature, not other camp sites.
A portion of the proceeds from your stay will be donated to bat habitat conservation and bat sanctuaries around the world.
We are grateful for the hundreds of campers that have stayed with us. Thank you to all of you that have left a clean site and not made unnecessary noise that would disturb the countless species that share the forest with us. Also, Thank You for patronizing local businesses while you are here.
We'll give you a map so you can see where to take a short walk to get to the lake.
There are miles of hiking trails a few minutes walk from your campsite.
Beltzville Lake is a great place for paddling. The boat launch is just a few minutes drive from Camp.
In addition to the beautiful immediate surroundings, we are centrally located near many exciting destinations. Year round activities at Blue Mountain Resort, adventure on The Appalachian Trail, fine dining, biking the rail trail and whitewater rafting in Jim Thorpe, all within a 25 minute drive.
The property is not suitable for parties or events.
The area is a QUIET ZONE. Ideal for people looking to unplug from it all and become one with nature. It is teaming with wildlife and is ideal for birding.
The hosts mission is to disturb wildlife and its habitats as little as possible.
VERY IMPORTANT - NO PARTIES or unregistered guests on the property. There are other campgrounds in the area that are great for people who want to party.
We welcome pets.

Loved this quiet spot along the river! The campsite was clean, peaceful and perfect for our stopover on the way to VT.
Wishes we could have stayed a couple days and enjoyed a bit more!

I will come back again and again. This was the most relaxing trip I’ve had. There are not many sites to offer private and peaceful camping. We were able to watch blue herons, egrets and geese fly in, in the morning and land on the river. We were able to enjoy yoga and meditation right by the river. We had two partridges hang out at our site for two days that just wandered around and were of no nuisance. Sitting in the swing at the top of the hill we had deer wandering around us. Despite getting there after dark, the instructions to get to our site were easy and after settling in, the owner came down and greeted us with our eggs. Everything is well taken care of. We feel like we’ve found a hidden gem.

Wonderful stay at site 2. The land is beautifully groomed, the view of the hill on one side and the stream on the other was perfect. There’s a brewery nearby too if you want to go for a day trip, very fun. Looking forward to coming back. The sites are nicely distanced. Thanks again

We loved the campsite. It was at the edge of a very nice meadow right next to a beautiful stretch of the river. Other campsites were spaced apart nicely for privacy and the port o potty was clean. We got in late our first night and we were able to do some star gazing. I managed to catch a small fish in the river the next day.
Unfortunately, when we arrived the firewood we purchased was not there. When we messaged Melissa saying our firewood was not there, we got the impression that she didn't believe us. She asked around the other campsites to see if anyone took the wood and told us that no one took it. Whatever the case, we had no wood at our site. She did eventually bring us the firewood after some confusing back-and-forth. This put a damper on an otherwise great trip.

The space is very well maintained and is beautiful.
The space is clearly marked and directions are accurate.
We stayed at site 5, a short walk to the river (less than a minute from the site down a gentle slope).
For end of summer, it was perfect and open.
For hotter months, this is just something to consider (see below regarding other sites).
The tent platform had tie off points and there is a food prep area, a picnic table and a folded grill grate for cooking.
We roamed the vast space and saw sites 1, 2, and 3, which are all closer to the water and also look like excellent spots with shade for summer, also well maintained.
There's a bench swing at the top of the hill overlooking 1, 2, and 3 and a bench on another hill.
I feel like the hosts must have done Hipcamp before and decided they were going to make their place exceptional for their guests, which they definitely did for us.
Road noise was minimal and distant.
Geese, ducks and heron on the river, as well as deer.

I loved camping at this site! It was private and serene, being right on the river was fantastic. Melissa was a great host and brought us additional firewood several times throughout the trip. Our toddler aged son loved walking around the paths and looking at plants and bugs. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I camped here on my first ever bikepacking trip and it was perfect! The campsite was easy to find and close to a few Metro North stations. Also very close to Angry Orchard if you are looking for somewhere unique to eat. The views of the river were beautiful.
