Camp Nauvoo was originally bought by the LDS church in the 1960's for a girl's camp. The camp was owned by the Boy Scouts from 2011-2015. The Rose family bought the property in 2016 with the intent to continue the tradition of tent camping as well as creating opportunities for exclusive events i.e., group/family reunions, weddings and corporate events. We are a small privately owned small campground (20 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are tent camping only with only one site that allows a small travel trailer or van. (#14) . We are dog friendly and allow dogs in all but 5 glamping sites. We do enforce camp rules especially our quiet time between 10 PM and 7 AM (please review). We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day. We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table. The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones. We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys. We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings). The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes. As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing. We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property. We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use. There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area. We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site. No internet service. There is limited internet only available for purchases at the setore. We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation. The camp host came out to meet each arriving party and guide them to their spot (as most of us rolled in after dark). Later she started a bonfire, and for the next couple of hours folks congregated in small groups talking about where they had been and where they were going. Very enjoyable social experience. Cooking facilities were excellent. They are outdoor, but it does not often rain here. Wind was moderate the night I was there. Two bathrooms (flush toilets and running water) quite close to the campsites.

The tent site was perfect; it was very peaceful, with wonderful views in all directions. Wendy was super and offered to get us extra wood for the fire since the wood on site was a bit moist from recent rain. We would definitely camp here again!

This is an incredible property with an incredible host! I camped at Willow springs, and really enjoyed the lushness of the willows, the privacy, and watching the Beavers, Owls and Hawks. I also stayed a week in Tiny Blue which was a little slice of heaven!! I loved all the books, the view and it was super comfy! The tiny kitchen and bathroom nearby were absolutely perfect and I didn't need to leave the property for anything for many days. Wendy is so enthusiastic and hands on, you can really tell she loves what she does and has built a beautiful sanctuary for artists, writers, creative types and those that are in need of some sanctuary. I Especially encourage women who are Solo camping to spend some time at this beautiful location! I can't wait to come back next year!🌀

My wife and I loved our stay at Aaron’s vineyard. Our camper van was parked over looking the grape vines. We spent Saturday afternoon tasting wine at the outdoor tasting room, with a beautiful sunset. Aaron was very nice and accommodating. Will definitely be back again!

This is the most incredible property, with the most incredible host! A peaceful sanctuary that allows one to get back in alignment with their own self in a lovely natural setting. I HIGHLY recommend for women on a healing journey, artists and writers needing to clear out blocks, or spiritual seekers in need of some sanctuary! This place has all the "magicalness" of Sedona & Mt. Shasta! A yearly visit is now on my calendar in order to give myself a much needed retreat! Camping at Willow woods was beautiful and private and I loved watching the Beavers, Owls, and Hawks. I also stayed at Tiny Blue, which was so comfortable, had beautiful views, and lots of cool outdoor sitting areas. The tiny kitchen had everything I needed and gave me the luxury of staying for an entire week! You can tell that Wendy loves being a host and believes in the sanctity of what she has created here, and it's reflected in every detail of the property itself and within her personal enthusiasm! This truly is a "choose your own adventure" experience!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 stars!

1 night at Camp 🏕 Gold Dust Vineyard

We stayed here to celebrate my husband’s birthday with our 9-month-old, and it was such a wonderful experience. We loved that we could upgrade provisions, we used the propane tank for the fire pit and the pour-over coffee setup, which came with freshly roasted beans (amazing!). The whole place has this relaxing, no-nonsense vibe that we really appreciated. We went during the fall, and it was so beautiful seeing the vines changing color. The electric blanket made our night cozy and comfortable even when it got chilly. Aaron was outstanding. His hospitality, knowledge, and genuine passion for his craft really stood out. We enjoyed wine tasting, hanging out in the “vincade,” and my husband watched a bit of Monday Night Football! The wine was fantastic, and we were so impressed we ended up joining the wine club. The yurt was spacious and comfy, the bed was great, and there was plenty of room for our daughter to crawl around. The portapotty was clean, and everything felt thoughtfully maintained. Just an overall relaxing, memorable trip. Can’t wait to come back!

Weekend Trip to Harris Family Farm and Forest

I loved camping in the apple orchard on Jane's farm! There was plenty of space for us to maneuver and park our trailer on the grass. We loved visiting the bake shop for apple donuts, caramel apples, and live music. Their flower garden is so colorful and we picked a pretty bouquet. We even had a small fire in the fire ring. I appreciated being able to have my dog with us too. Thank you and we look forward to coming back!

I loved camping here! You get the perfect scenery, apple orchards and Christmas trees. Such a great weekend! Jane and her whole team were so friendly and accommodating. To top it off we picked up fresh baked pie slices each night and brought back to the campsite to enjoy by the fire. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! We will be coming back for more trips in the future.

2 nights at Harris Family Farm and Forest

Jane's land is simply beautiful. We stayed at campsite 2 which was across the street from the farm and orchard in the tall pine trees. In mid October the weather was mostly sunny and warm during the day and lightly chilly at night. The camping areas in the forest are on a hill with a slight grade. I think site 4 may be a little more level and tucked away. We slept in our vehicles so no comment for tents, but it is uneven. There are super clean porta potties at the campsites. We had the area to ourselves on a Monday-Wednesday. Lots of trees for hammock hanging, soft pine covered earth, lots of fallen pine cones of all types. They are big and fall and could hurt so be wary of the sounds. It is by the road so there are some sounds, but not much especially in the evening hours. One evening we did see two tarantulas. Only other animals sighted were a hare, various birds and insects. The pie shop is cute and available to campers most days if they are busy baking. the mini pies and cupcakes are beautiful and delicious. Friendly hosts. Would return!

Where to go

Lake Tahoe

Stateline sits at the southeast corner of Lake Tahoe, a massive alpine lake with 72 miles of shoreline. Head north along the Nevada side of the lake for RV and tent camping at Nevada Beach Campground and Zephyr Cove, or head across the border for Campground by the Lake in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. Find scenic campgrounds at Emerald Bay State Park and D.L. Bliss State Park and further along the west shore of the lake on Highway 89 near Tahoe City. Look for backcountry options along the Tahoe Rim Trail.

Kirkwood and Carson Pass Area

South of Stateline, Kirkwood is a popular destination for outdoor recreation, especially over the winter at the ski resort. Several camping options can be found just outside of town, including developed forest service and PG&E campgrounds around several small lakes, while additional campgrounds can also be found along the west fork of the Carson River. For hot springs and camping, head to Grover Hot Springs State Park near Markleeville.

High Desert and Valley

For high desert camping, head east over the mountains down to the valley, with RV resorts near Minden, Gardnerville, and Carson City. Further north, enjoy year-round camping around Washoe Lake at Washoe Lake Campground and at Davis Creek Campground. Further east, Dayton State Park and Fort Churchill State Park offer history and year-round camping in the high desert.

Eldorado National Forest

West of Stateline, the Eldorado National Forest offers nearly 600,000 acres of forest, lakes, and fishable rivers and streams, in addition to more than 50 developed campgrounds and plenty of dispersed camping options. Two wilderness areas, Mokelumne and Desolation, in particular, offer excellent backcountry camping options.

When to go

Like most towns around Lake Tahoe, Stateline is busiest over the summer, the most popular time for water recreation on the lake. Winter is also a busy period, with visitors flocking to Heavenly, Kirkwood, and other area ski resorts. Most campgrounds are closed over the winter, though plenty of cabin options are available. Spring and fall offer ideal weather for outdoor recreation and smaller crowds.
