This site sits on a mostly flat, graveled driveway with plenty of room to park and set up. Surrounded by forest and backed by public land, it's a great basecamp for outdoor adventure. You'll find direct access to mountain biking and hiking trails right off the property, including the Tally Lake Overlook Trail and Stovepipe Trails. Tally Lake, Montana’s deepest lake, is less than 8 miles up the road and offers opportunities for swimming, paddling, fishing, or simply soaking in the quiet beauty.
If you head just up Tobie Creek Road, there’s a small, lesser-known fishing hole—a stocked lake with trout and pike that locals love for its peaceful vibe.
This is a dry campsite with no hookups or amenities, so please come prepared with your own water and a toilet system. (Tent campers are welcome only if you bring your own composting toilet or bucket toilet setup.) A basic fire ring is available for use when fire restrictions are not in effect—please check current conditions. There's also a simple picnic table and plenty of trees for hammocks. Firewood is available as an extra you can add on to this booking- we will deliver it to the site ahead of your arrival time. Dry, split firewood is also available for purchase just next door from the site at 365 Tally Lake Road.
Important Note: There is no cell service at the site. Be sure to download maps and save your directions before leaving service range. If you are looking for quietude, this is your spot! Twenty acres situated minutes from lakes, rivers and US Forest Service land. Partly forested and partly pasture land, we boast Aspen, Fir, Spruce and Pine trees. Wildlife that commonly pass through include coyote, elk, deer and badger. Welcome to Tobie Creek Corner, a peaceful, RV-only campsite nestled right at the edge of the Flathead National Forest. Located at the corner of Tally Lake Road and Tobie Creek Road (NF-2924), this private spot offers the perfect blend of seclusion and accessibility—just 15 minutes from downtown Whitefish and 45 minutes to the entrance of Glacier National Park. The property is filled with towering Fir and Larch trees, and it would not be uncommon to see many deer or the occasional wild turkey or songbirds fluttering around.
This site sits on a mostly flat, graveled driveway with plenty of room to park and set up. Surrounded by forest and backed by public land, it's a great basecamp for outdoor adventure. You'll find direct access to mountain biking and hiking trails right off the property, including the Tally Lake Overlook Trail and Stovepipe Trails. Tally Lake, Montana’s deepest lake, is less than 8 miles up the road and offers opportunities for swimming, paddling, fishing, or simply soaking in the quiet beauty.
If you head just up Tobie Creek Road, there’s a small, lesser-known fishing hole—a stocked lake with trout and pike that locals love for its peaceful vibe.
This is a dry campsite with no hookups or amenities, so please come prepared with your own water and a toilet system. (Tent campers are welcome only if you bring your own composting toilet or bucket toilet setup.) A basic fire ring is available for use when fire restrictions are not in effect—please check current conditions. There's also a simple picnic table and plenty of trees for hammocks. Firewood is available as an extra you can add on to this booking- we will deliver it to the site ahead of your arrival time. Dry, split firewood is also available for purchase just next door from the site at 365 Tally Lake Road.
Important Note: There is no cell service at the site. Be sure to download maps and save your directions before leaving service range. This was our 2nd stay at The Back of the Moon. First time we stayed at the Wolf Moon site and this time at Buck Moon. Wolf Moon is a little bigger with a picnic table for hanging out and eating outdoors. Buck Moon is a little smaller but still plenty of space. It is a peaceful spot and sits up on the hill with a filtered view of the pond at the nearby resort. Carolyn is an outstanding host, very helpful and gracious. Highly recommend!

We spent 3 nights in the yurt here. It rained quite a bit and the temperatures got pretty chilly, but the yurt had an electric heater, that kept us more than comfortable. 2 adults, 2 children under 10 and our dog. We had plenty of room outside to cook and hang out. The yurt was thoughtfully arranged to feel plenty spacious and comfortable for the 5 of us. You cannot beat the location of this hipcamp. We spent 3 days in the park, but it is conviently close to Kalispell and Whitefish as well. We will definitely stay again.

Our little family (2adults, 2 young kids, 2 labradors) absolutely loved Carolyn’s spot, such a great find! We towed our camper up to Wolf Moon and stayed for the Whitefish Trailblazer races in the fall. The property was beautiful and secluded. Tucked into the woods behind the Haymoon resort. The property was easy to find via google maps, and Carolyn was super responsive (even well before we booked!). The site has a 30/20 amp hookup and water available, just brought our hose to hook up & close to a free RV dump in town at the Cenex. Honestly the perfect little weekend, even with the colder weather & rain. Would 100% recommend this spot & Carolyn as a host, she was wonderful!

The site fit my needs for a place to camp while reffing soccer at the nearby Smith fields. The two sites are next to each other, but the other one was empty so I had plenty of privacy. The toilets were clean even if one was about out of paper. You can hear highway 40 due to the proximity, but it was not bad just some white noise. I would return.

Shayne and Ryder are great people! Very friendly and they made sure that we had everything we needed when we checked in. Shayne even took our son to feed the horses and play with the goats while we unloaded our stuff. The Airstream was comfy and clean and Ryder made sure we knew how to work everything. It's very close to a couple different parks on the lake for swimming, fishing, etc. We'd definitely stay with them again!
