All You Need is a 111 acre paradise that is home to some VERY unique and endangered habitat. Our northern boundary is a tract of DeSoto National Forest, where we have practically exclusive access to another 90 acres of longleaf pine savannah and more bottomland creeks.
The sandhills are a "desert in the rain," home to prickly pear cactus and yuccas, abundant lichens (deer "moss"), the endangered black pine snake, and our mascot, the also endangered Gopher Tortoise.
We're a nature education and retreat center where we share permaculture practices, homesteading/sustainable living skills, conservation practices, and approaches to connecting more deeply to the land. Check out our sister non-profit, the Burrow Nature Center.
You will have access to our many walking paths and our swimming pond, as well as a 15 minute walk to part of DeSoto National Forest, which butts up to our property line.
We would love to have you as our guest on the land, and are especially eager to meet travelers who deeply love nature and want to live in better relationship to it!
Check in is between 2pm - 8pm, Check out is 11am. There's a fee for late check-in to our site.

Gravel is only provided at the entrance area, encircling the metal shed. Any driving off the gravel runs a risk of getting stuck in the slippery clay/mud. This place is a MUST visit! My husband and i enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back with babies and grandson. Mr. Austin stayed in contact even before the trip...We enjoyed interacting with the animals and were hoping to do the horseback riding but it rained. This place is 1000/10! Overall, the experience was delightful. I was able to pull my little camper right next to the pond and enjoy the serene view over the landscape. I enjoyed fishing in the pond and caught multiple nice size bass and a catfish, and relaxing. My son enjoyed riding his bike on the path around the pond, playing on the playset, and feeding the alpacas. Had a great time, the host was excellent, and would definitely visit again.

We spent the weekend tent camping at Home Place Pastures. It was a great site, with great people, and even some great food at the farm store on site! We found a lot of eating options in the town of Como, also. It is also located within driving distance of Memphis. Will definitely have a return trip here

We arrived Friday & had a fun time till we left Sunday. The property, the pond, & Ms. Erica were great. Ms. Erica even helped us out with some extra sleeping bags when the night time temps dropped lower than expected. From fishing in the pond to seeing all the animals, our grand-kids enjoyed & learned a lot on the farm setting. We’ll certainly add it to our “let’s go back” list!

We really enjoyed our weekend on John’s land, and wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Beautiful countryside, and our little girls really enjoyed all of the animals. Didn’t try our hand at fishing this trip, but did take a stroll around the property on a perfectly manicured path. Great cell signal for streaming some Saturday afternoon football. Great spot! The site had a nice flattened area for my tent a little into a wooded area. I was able to hang my hammock. And the spot is right in the edge of the walking trails which was lovely. I also had some car troubles and Jordan was very responsive and helpful!

13 ft pop-up camper
This is a perfect spot for anyone - especially bikers - traveling on the Natchez Trace to camp as it's less that 1 mile off the trace. Nice level concrete pad with electric and water with a treelined forest on one side and an open field on the other. Great wide-open view of the stars (no light pollution!) from the site. Anna & Will were gracious hosts, communicating everything we needed before our arrival, and they made a point to check in on us to make sure all was well after we'd settled in - much appreciated! Gotta love the address (111 Dummy Line Road) and it was a great experience overall so I highly recommend.
