At Amnicon you'll find the perfect blend of far-enough-away and easy-enough-to-get-to. We're located at the end of a 5-mile-long dirt road, just 30 minutes outside of Duluth, MN. Our site features 600 acres of protected forests along the Amnicon River on the South Shore of Lake Superior. The wildlife is abundant, and we even have an eagle's nest on site. You'll enjoy falling asleep to the sound of the waves on Lake Superior, and waking up to 118+ species of birdsongs. We have an enormous sandy beach on Lake Superior that's a great place to watch the sunset and have a SMALL campfire. You're going to love it here.

A unique, octagon, cedar log cabin, situated on 40 secluded wooded acres. A short hike over the Sucker River on a storybook foot bridge to a generous deck which surrounds the cabin.
You will need to be very physically fit to stay here. You must climb a steep ladder to the loft and do a 2ft step to get off the deck to the marshy land below.
The cabin has a main room which holds two sofas and an indoor fireplace. There are games, books, binoculars and a telescope available for guest use. To access the sleeping loft, climb a ladder. The sleeping loft holds a Sleep Number bed. Guests are welcome to use any spices, pantry items and cookware that are in the kitchen. There is no running water in the kitchen or bath. There may be well water in the blue/green jerry cans . You could use that for the sauna or washing dishes.
Guests need to bring their own potable water. We recommend 1 gallon of water per person each day spent at the cabin. We do usually have a small amount of water in water cooler containers which is from the local grocery, filtered water for you to use in a pinch if needed.

Peaceful, private, close to bike trails, Jay Cooke State Park and Duluth. Both cabins have their own special ambiance. These are comfortable, rustic cabins with NO running water (drinking water supplied).

Once you are in the area, message us a bit before your arrival so we can meet you and set you up properly! If we miss you, follow the arrow on the wheelbarrow down the hill. Park at Dragon Loft at 1st right, and Raven Watch at very end of drive.
*We have free range chickens and friendly border collie. Sometimes there's a dog staying at the other cabin. Wildlife is also in the area, so we require that dogs be supervised and leashed, for their safety, and our wild animal neighbors. No dogs may be left unattended in our cabins while you go out! Take your canine pal with you! Quiet hours: dusk to 7am. Also consider your dog's inclination for barking. We keep the peace and quiet of all of our guests in mind.
*DRAGON LOFT has one double bed in a loft with steep ladder. Great for two people. Room for dog bed or kennel below the loft. Has a nice reading/coffee room, fridge, oil radiator, hot plate, WiFi, deck with table and chairs, patio with fire ring., grill outside. You have full use of the trails in our woods!
*RAVEN WATCH is larger and comfortable for up to four people. Solar power, off grid (no WiFi). Double bed upstairs overlooking the pond, and another downstairs by the cozy wood stove. A cute little kitchen with a nice gas stove and wash area. Fire ring outside. Wood supply. Price based on two adults. Small fee for up to two more people +pets. Next to pond, creek and woods! Private porta-potty, no shower.
We raised our children here, and over 45 yrs have planted trees and pollinator acres. We always enjoy meeting other travelers. While living and teaching internationally we looked for adventure, staying in a wide range of hostels in developing countries around the globe. We are now retired but still traveling and exploring off-season.

Experience upscale camping–Glamping in the Forested Hills of Lake Superior. Sailor Springs is a small three-site campground located just two miles outside of the picturesque tourist town of Bayfield, WI. 2023 will be our first year of operation and we’re excited to host campers on the property and provide a unique camping experience.
The campground is spread out over 5 acres of forest that you’ll hike into from Bresette Hill Road. After parking at the trailhead, you’ll gather your bags and hike into your glamping site. The trail winds through the woods, leading you first to a valley where the seasonal Clark Creek runs through in the spring. The first two campsites are on the other side of this valley. The trail can be steep in spots and requires a moderate level of fitness and mobility to reach the secluded campsites. The third site is a bit farther into the forest, the little A-frame cabin, Anchor sits on the edge of the spring-fed Brickyard Creek that flows year-round.
We have many plans for the property and depending on when you stay, the campground will be in various stages of development. The campsites, trailhead / parking area, and trails are scheduled to be completed in early spring. We hope to add amenities such as a camp sauna and screened-in gazebo later in the 2024 summer / fall. Great secluded cabin! Perfect for a getaway and great location. There is a bunch of blankets and pillows. Also lots of pots and pans. We loved the fireplace inside and the fire ring outside with the stars! The river was beautiful! Pictures don’t do a justice.

I really enjoyed this campsite, it has truly breathtaking views of the lake and you can’t beat a beach fire! It was very peaceful, even with the other cabins being occupied. We ended up arriving later than planned so it was dark, and still the maps, signs, and trails were very easy to follow. The lodge with the showers and sauna is a HUGE bonus. The cabin and outhouse were very well maintained and very clean, my entire group commented their enthusiasm on that. Overall a great spot and I can’t wait to plan another trip back!

I love how secluded and alone we felt the whole time, having that big beach to ourselves was incredible. Met Ann when I arrived and she is a very kind and friendly host and was easy to connect with through messenger before the visit. The land is simply beautiful and has a variety of habitats to hike through and you feel at peace in the country but close to Duluth for restaurants and activities.

Wow, this was my first HipCamp experience and I am pretty sure it has spoiled me for any future stays! The bar has been set pretty high, for sure. There were so many beautiful touches and attention to detail in both a practical and anesthetic sense. I watched turtles swimming in the pond, laughed at a precocious squirrel hurling pine cones at the steel roof of the cabin, and marvelled at a very large heard of deer as I walked the meadow and photographed a gorgeous field of wildflowers. My stay was far too short. I genuinely hope to come here again and spend more time. Thank you for sharing your little piece of heaven on earth. 🥰

Absolutely loved staying here! Not only is it a fun thing to be off grid but the property is very comfortable. The host was knowledgeable and very friendly. The bonus was the adorable dog my boyfriend loved playing with. We were given farm fresh eggs upon arrival but I am bummed we forgot them. Great place to relax for sure!! We will stay there again.

Wowza what a great spot! Spent 2 days walking the many trails on the 40 acres with leashed dogs in tow. Beautiful pollinator fields and rolling meadows, raspberries and mushrooms. Lovely nights around the campfire with smores supplies provided by the owners. Propane BBQ worked really quick on the deck, and other kitchenette items worked well too: Hot plate, microwave and tea kettle. Got slightly chilly so we used the space heater they had. Kiddo got the loft bed & I used a cot I brought from home squeezed onto the first floor, worked really well for 2 people and 2 dogs. Books, games and a radio really brought the Dragon cabin to life. Eating on the patio watching the resident farm dog run around with a giant stick playing with our puppy was like having dinner and a show. We brought a sturdy tie out for our pooches and it was a blessing. The owners are incredibly kind and helpful, and let my kiddo feed the chickens. We got a tour of the other bigger cabin on the pond and will definitely be back to book it. 5 stars! 🌟 🤩 ⭐️ 🌠 💫

I was so excited for this getaway - and everything about this place exceeded my expectations!! The cabin was the PERFECT serene escape - from the cozy interior with everything we could’ve needed for comfort/ambiance, cooking yummy meals, and space for reading/games - to the beautiful views of the pond/wildflowers/stars over the field at night - to the labyrinth of well maintained trails to explore on the property. My dog had the time of his life exploring, and us humans are leaving well rested and hoping to return again soon!

Exactly what we were looking for—very remote, peaceful, and private. The hike to the site was clearly communicated in advance, so we were prepared, but it was moderately challenging, especially with gear. The hill down to the fire pit was a little tricky when the dirt was wet, but the beautiful, secluded setting made it well worth the effort. The cabin was spotless, super cozy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
Abe was awesome to work with! We had one site booked for a night and another for two nights, and he made the transition between them incredibly easy. He also checked in on us after a storm passed through and stayed responsive via the app whenever we had questions. You can tell he really cares about making sure campers have a good experience. Would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone looking to disconnect and enjoy some true quiet time in nature!
