Nestled in Manistee National Forest is a family farm. Trailheads lead to hundreds of miles of public two-track, and the woods roll between oak/maple/beech and aspen/birch. On the farm is a 20 acre lake with a floating island, tent sites, and healthy ecosystems with plenty of wildlife.Our farm pastures pigs, cattle, sheep and poultry, investing in our dirt and our neighbors. We are provision family farms because we provide for our animals even as we are provided for. Drop on in at the house and we may have time for a little tour.In the woods is a small composting toilet, but you're welcome to fertilize our pastures anytime. There's also a shower available in the house.The best time to visit Michigan forests is in October when the leaves turn color and the nights are cool. The mosquitoes are done for the winter and the air is brisk.

Kayak and Canoe Rentals are also available on sight, best to reserve in advance. Hiking trails nearby offer a great way to explore the Allegan Forest or the lakeshore sand dunes. We are 7 miles east of Saugatuck and 5 miles north of Fennville, our site makes a perfect escape from the nearby lakeshore shopping and dining district while keeping you in close proximity to local wineries and other attractions. The camp spot on Luke's farm was lovely. While we requested the kayaks for their pond, we did not end up using them. The space was very private. We had a little trouble getting to the space as the direction listed in the booking did not land you immediately into the space, but more like adjacent. We arrived late and it was dark out so we had a tough time knowing where to turn, there was very little signage to indicate where exactly to go, and we did not have the best cell service. We made it to their farm and we were given a map.
Overall, i would stay there again and recommend to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful time out in nature. The views of the autumn foliage were abundant. Thank you!

We loved this camp. We travel with our 3 dogs, and this is the perfect place for them to have their space to romp around. Firewood was at the campsite when we got there, a beautiful lake, and seclusion. We came to area to mountain bike the dragon trail, this camp is a great home base for bikers.

We loved our time at Trestle Bell! It was so nice to arrive to our site and have firewood waiting for us, as well as potable water. We really enjoyed the riverside location near Fennville and it was a short drive to Saugatuck and Douglas.

We absolutely loved camping at Back Road Ranch! There was so much space for the kids to play and enjoy nature and it was private so we didn’t have to worry about bothering neighboring campers! The amenities were so nice to have and were so essential for our large group. The campsites were great, lots of space for the campers as well as additional vehicles or tents. The campsites had shade most of the day which was nice during the hot days. I think it’s good to know that the entrance is off a dirt road but it was easy to find and well marked.

Not your typical campground, you’re just staying on a little corner of their property/farm, but it’s super cute and peaceful! The host was very friendly and accommodating. Very quiet and isolated. Would recommend, especially if you don’t mind a bumpy road and hanging out with the farm animals.

Weekend Trip to Airstream at Red Horse - Fennville
Fred and Ulla are amazing hosts! The airstream was cozy, clean, and situated on a beautiful farm. Running water and AC were a plus esp. during the heatwave! We watched their magnificent horses graze as we sipped our morning coffee. We met playful dogs Rosy and Jasper and sweet cat Luna. We were looking for a place to stay and found much more! Fred and Ulla are doing essential work focused on mental health, well-being, self-development, along with their family of horses and dogs, on their tranquil 20 acre farm. They were so warm and generous with their time and just cool people all around! Such a relaxing weekend. Thank you. Will visit again!
