Beautiful camping experience on our little slice of heaven. Lake Shawood is a beautiful, natural spring-fed, non-motorized lake that primarily borders the City of Novi's exquisite Lakeshore Park. Lakeshore Park has everything from playgrounds for very young children and older children, to picnic pavillions and a sandy beach, and miles of hiking, running, and biking trails.
We fell in love with this property the second we walked behind the old cottage.
I love nature and being outdoors, especially hiking and biking. We are still making improvements on the land with a small garden, which you are welcome to enjoy during your stay. Our big-picture vision is to renovate the old cottage and live in it.
This property is about 1/3 of an acre and has 1 large old oak tree and garden beds with flowers, herbs, and vegetables. (You can help yourself to any of the fruits or vegetables that are ripe)
We are on an old smaller home/cottage-style small residential street. Please keep in mind, that this is a spot for family and friend fun with the awareness of keeping it a sanctuary space for the neighbors as well.
Enchanting Lakefront Camping Site
Pitch your tent and bring your family and children to our exquisitely beautiful site. The property sits on Shawood Lake, a non-motorized private waterfront site. There’s plenty of room to park your car, pitch a tent, enjoy a campfire, and the beauty of all types of birds (swans, geese, ospreys, and the occasional bald eagle), and animal life. The sunsets in this area are breathtaking.
Take a short 30-second walk and enjoy Pavilion Shore Park, a family-oriented park with a playground, swimming, fishing pier, and waterfront seating of Walled Lake. You’ll also find public restrooms which are open until 10 pm through the summer and a restaurant across the street.
We also have a portable camping toilet with a nice pop-up tent for privacy.
Lakeshore Park is a 5-minute walk, an 11-acre park with volleyball, swimming, bike, and hiking trails (more than 10 miles of mountain biking and multi-purpose trails), horseshoe pits, BBQs, picnic shelters, and play structures.

The shack isn’t perfectly air tight so you might encounter a few bugs however with Chickens around they are natural bug exterminators. Ceiling height it just at 6 ft meaning those taller than that need to Duck under beams. Please beware.

Lake can only be viewed from the upstairs of shack due to tall reeds or by way of walking path which is still under construction partially handmade from scrap lumber . It’s about 2/3 complete with newly built dock, sections (see pics). The path is usually partially underwater until mid May so please check if you plan to kayak you will use at your own risk. *:It’s too mucky to swim right off shore but you can Kayak out to the swimming area. Kayak use is allowed as long as waiver is signed. Closed toed/water shoes recommended . Potential for 4 guests which is tight, or more if part of your crew wanted to set up a tent.
*Fall/winter info:
Use of our guest bathroom is permitted during colder months -just ask!. Keep in mind, The only heat will be a 1500 watt heater.

***For the preservation of our property, our septic system, the privacy of other campers, all arrivals MUST be prior to dark setting in. If you can't see the signs & posts, you can damage our property AND your vehicle/equipment. All campers must arrive no later than 8:30 p.m. (This time limit will change throughout the season.)
*The property has a lot of wildlife; Deer, Turkey, Rabbits, Coyote, Birds, & Fox.
*A small creek runs across the back of the property.
*There are many lakes just minutes away, as well as the Huron river for fishing & kayaking.
*Public beaches at Lake Chemung & Bishop Lake.
*Campfires allowed. Plenty of dead wood around, or you can purchase firewood bundles onsite.
*Potable water is available to fill water tanks & containers. It is softened from the house.
*Sewer dump station is 5 miles away at Brighton Rec Area (there is a fee).
*Pets are allowed, max of 2 total (cats & dogs only). They must be leashed at all times (15 ft. max).
*Guests that are not part of the Hipcamp Reservation, are not allowed on-site. Guests will need to be met at a location other than our Hipcamp. There are numerous places nearby to gather instead. This assures maximum privacy for all sites and for our family.

*Captain Frosty's Ice Cream is located approximately 2–3 miles away. They offer a variety of ice cream deliciousness, slushies, shakes, and malts.

We are less than a mile off Old 27, close to 127 and 5 miles to I-69 DeWitt Exit. Drop by and stay for a night on your way to your final destination or relax and stay for a few days,
Our first site is open for tent or RV. Our new heated barn has a flush-toilet, sink, shower, washer and dryer. Less than a mile down the road is our local tavern with good, affordable food and welcoming vibe.
Our home sits in the middle of a large clover lawn surrounded by woods, a pond and low-land meadow with high grass and wildflowers. Walking trails are cut through the woods and meadow providing ability to see deer, rabbits, dragonflies, butterflies, birds, cranes, blue and green heron and native flowers. We sometimes see raccoons, eagle, hawk, wood peckers, coyote and fox. During the day you'll see our ducks and chickens free-ranging and our sheep may join them or be in their pasture.
We have an active homestead farm and we are focused on building a thriving environment for pollinators.
Autumn brings the honey harvest and in the spring maple syrup... you're always welcome around the fire.

Absolutely beautiful space and was large enough for any campers needs. Robert was super nice and informed us about the area and the neighbors, who are also super nice according to Robert. Robert was super hospitable, asked us if we needed power, gave us a campfire pit, and a tarp to keep the bottom of our tent clean. After all that we were left completely alone for the rest of the time and everything went super well. Absolutely would recommend this host.

Terry was an exceptional host, accommodating our late arrival and thoughtfully checking in after a period of rain to ensure everything was going well. Interactions with the neighbors were minimal, though they were present during our stay. One nearby Ring spotlight camera activated frequently while we were enjoying an evening fire, which was somewhat noticeable.
The area near the water can become quite wet, so I would recommend going barefoot or wearing footwear that can get wet. It’s well worth it, as the surrounding wildlife is abundant and difficult to resist exploring.
This was, without question, one of the best nights of sleep I’ve had. The setting is peaceful, with the natural sounds of frogs, cranes, swans, woodpeckers, and other wildlife creating a truly relaxing atmosphere. It offers an excellent balance of seclusion and nature while still being close enough to have food delivered or pick up essential supplies.
I look forward to seeing how this property continues to evolve over time and would gladly return for another stay.

My wife and I loved this cozy little spot! Julie was great and super responsive, and the firewood at the site was a huge plus. We enjoyed the privacy (we brought our puppy to begin to acclimate him to traveling) and this ended up being perfect for us. We had such an amazing experience staying at this campsite! Bryan is truly one of the kindest and most accommodating hosts we’ve ever met. From the moment we booked, he was quick to respond, helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
The property itself is absolutely incredible — peaceful, well-kept, and the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. You can really tell how much care and pride Bryan puts into creating a welcoming experience for his guests.
What really stood out was how far above and beyond he went to make our stay special. When we ran out of firewood, he even brought us more without hesitation, which was so thoughtful and appreciated. It’s those little acts of kindness that make a trip memorable.

We adored this site. The view was beautiful, it was peaceful and quiet, right on the river but looking out onto Lake Huron.
At first, I wasn't crazy about being nestled between two houses, but you know what? It's more spread out than a state park campground and we camp at those often and it's RIGHT on the river. I so appreciate the hosts installing electric and everything here to share their little slice of heaven. They were so sweet to us and our son. I hope to come back again this camping season.
The awesome private deck offered great fishing and we enjoyed watching everyone going out to the big lake on their boats.
They provided chairs and firewood (actual good firewood, too, perfectly dry) which was so nice. We even woke up to a knock on the door with delicious homemade blueberry muffins.

Kim and Gordon were excellent host with a beautiful piece of property. The site was perfectly groomed and ready when we pulled in, it's a great spot to go fishing or boat watching on the river. Overall it was a great experience for our first camping trip of the season.

Beautiful neighborhood and very close to Frankenmuth. The nights were quiet and peaceful. Rob was also very friendly and helpful to get us settled.

Beautiful spot. A few really nice short trails with lots of mature trees and berry bushes. Spacious sites with a great distance between other sites and a nice privacy system. Very friendly host that goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy yourself

Very friendly and good conversation.
He greeted us promptly upon our arrival and made sure we had everything we needed.
I highly recommend staying at his camp.

Robert was a great host with excellent communication! He met us at the site upon arrival. We had a tent & it had been raining so he gave us many options of the driest areas for setup. We chose closer to the street since we knew we were leaving early in the morning but there was hardly any traffic at night & it was quiet. He has plenty of spaces back further into the woods for even more peace. We came for Frankenmuth dog fest as did some others & it was completely dog friendly with no issues with barking. It’s only 15 min from Frankenmuth & 3 minutes from Loves Truck Stop/bathroom for a shower if needed. We would definitely stay here again for our travels! Thanks for making our stay so comfortable Robert! :)

3 nights at Tiny Love Shack Off Grid Glamping
The little loft cabin was so cute and just what we needed to get away. It had everything we needed and things we didn't think we needed until we realized. It was a great view and very quiet. Highly recommended to anyone.
