Thank you Wool in the Wood!! The hosts are fantastic, communication is great, and amenities are clean and accessible. Despite some thunderstorms, we still had a wonderful visit and tour of the farm, including a meet and greet with some very sweet sheep, chickens, ducks, and barn cats. You can tell Micheal is incredibly passionate about his land, animals, and his commitment to serving native Michigan species. At night we had a nice and easy fire and were lulled to sleep by the frogs in the pond nearby. Be sure to ask about the bees and the honey they produce on their farm, it is the best honey we’ve ever had!

Very nice land and very knowledgeable hosts. Shade available for most of the day. Camp site does sit in sun in the afternoon for a few hours.

I booked a few nights for my daughter and I after a planned family trip fell through. It was a great experience, and we were made to feel welcome right from the start. It was a a perfect get-away, and I'd recommend this site to anyone interested.

Wool in the Wood has been my most favorite Hipcamp ever. Michael and Dawn are fantastic, friendly hosts. They’ve created a dreamy oasis, working with the state to become environmentally verified.
Travelers have access to a clean bathroom with hot shower with basic supplies—even drinking water and a hair dryer. I’ve never stayed at a Hipcamp that offered use of a full bathroom and this was much appreciated as I had been working outside nearby and was filthy.
They gave me a tour of the farm and then welcomed me to walk around on my own. When I woke up in the morning, I took a cup of coffee and explored all 20 acres—beautiful woods, sheep pen, ponds, ducks and chickens, beehives, and more, all designed in cooperation with nature—they’re transforming the property with native tree and plant species. To be able to wander around and say hello to all the creatures, and then buy some honey, eggs, and maple syrup, was an unexpected treat.
Highly recommend, and I’ll be staying here again.

Lovely lovely land. Michael and Dawn are very sweet and friendly, willing to show you their amazing land (sheep, beehives, chickens, ducks, very nice trails in the back for an evening stroll). Very cozy and I was very happy to have found them on my journey!

I'm so happy I found this spot, Michael and Dawn are such welcoming hosts, and they have poured so much love into their land! As soon as I arrived, Michael gave me and my pup a tour of the land - the animals, the garden, the walking trails, and a small history of the ongoing efforts to restore the native Michigan plants. It's so beautiful to meet folks who are such passionate caretakers of the land they live on!
The campsite itself is a small opening of grass that is in front of their house, somewhat opposite from the driveway. Even though it's close to the house, it still felt private, as they planted young trees and wildflowers to create a natural separation from their gravel road. It was perfect for my minivan / car camping setup, and there's ample space for a slightly bigger setup to fit in comfortably.
Being less than 10 minutes away from the highway, it is surprisingly quiet out here! On a clear night, the stars shine so bright. I loved exploring the trails with my little doggy (though be mindful of poison ivy!) and spotting deer and native birds is a promise here!
I happened to stay here on the same weekend Michael and Dawn's children came home to visit - and they invited me to sit by the fire with them. They are really such a lovely family, with so many adventurous stories to tell! I really enjoyed my stay, and meeting these folks!
Bonus was the flush toilet, hot shower, and laundry available to use in the garage! Great place to reset, and enjoy good vibes! 😊

This is a perfect little quiet spot to spend the night and avoid a busy campground. There are no hookups, but I wasn't concerned about that. There is a full restroom with a shower and great hot water and pressure. I enjoyed this little quiet spot and will for sure stop again if I'm passing through.
