Hello, and welcome to Superior Times Resort and Campground!
We would like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Our names are Tom and Heather Holmstrom. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times Resort and Campground was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and show them there is more out there than the traditional path. We also wanted showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula; the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.”
In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history.
Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work!

First time using Hipcamp, and definitely not the last, thanks to Cory! Site 1 doesn’t have many photos, but it’s actually way better than we thought. it’s really spacious and the levitating tent was really nice. We also got half a dozen fresh farm eggs which was a nice touch to the experience. I’ll definitely come back to this spot whenever I’m in the UP.

Cory was great! Welcoming and accommodating. Tent site was better than the pictures and gave a great deal peace and quiet only nature can offer. Also great location as it’s right near a gas station and breakfast spot!
Cory was also very understanding for a slight, self-imposed hiccup which was managed in only a couple messages back and forth.
Would definitely stay here again if I end up in the same area again.

Amazing location, beautiful property and comfortable sleeping arrangements. Close to most major sight seeing areas and lots of things to do to keep you busy. Hosts were very accommodating and hospitable providing anything extra we might’ve needed plus more. Highly recommend staying here if you’re up in the area and we will definitely be back!

This place/our cabin was perfect! We were impressed with how clean it was and the space was perfect for two adult couples, a baby, and our young daughter on the pull-out couch. They even had a pack and play for us when we arrived! The hosts were friendly and accommodating and there for anything we needed but also gave a lot of space and privacy. The campground is great too; the lakefront was beautiful and lots of different areas to sit and relax and enjoy. We would definitely come back!

We managed to fit 2 adults and 2 kids (age 4 and 6) up in the tent and stayed warm enough in that 44 degree weather! Kids did great and enjoyed the experience. Now they expect to hang our tent here at home. We are not large people and our 2 kids are small and young so it worked fine for us within the 500 lb weight limit.
We had a great vacation in MI, thank you for being a part of it. An adventure for sure!

Weekend Trip to Elli's Lazy Days Resort & Campground
I had a wonderful time camping at the "glamping" yurt. It was outfitted with everything anyone would need for an enjoyable experience. Chairs, camping bed, blankets, dishes, cooking necessities, paper towel and garbage bag/can all provided. Nice area outside the yurt to sit and build a fire in the fire pit. Outhouse right next to the yurt is clean and convenient, but there is also a very clean running water toilet and shower just down the way. Check in and check out were very easy. I arrived later than I expected and they graciously accommodated me for my arrival and left little lights on in the yurt so I would be able to find my way. The lake is very beautiful and the area is very calm. Good sights to see nearby and a wonderful area to explore. Very knowledgeable and helpful host. I highly recommend you camp here if you find yourself in the area.
*There are spots to park an RV, but other than they are reasonably spaced, I can't speak to that.

My wife and I are seniors and tent camp a few times a year as well as hot tent camp in February. We were foing the Mackinaw Bridge walk on Labor Day and wanted to camp but travel light because we had to get up early and hit the road. We decided to try a new twist to camping and tried the dome. Enjoyed it we like trying new things, Cory was a great host welcomed us explained the lights answered our questions then left us to enjoy.

Beautiful beautiful place to stay! It's super nice to be so well taken care of at a more rustic site like this, we had chairs, and a table to prepare food on, as well as a fire pit and the tent! Tent is great. It doesn't work well to sleep two side by side, because of the tent seams and structure, but can comfortably sleep 3 separately on the floor! I stayed here 8mo pregnant and slept great if that tells you anything (we used camping mats) Cory is a fantastic host, very responsive and understanding. Favorite hipcamp site

Unique, fun stay. Campsite was great. The skydome was roomy and a cool experience. Only downsize was getting in, a little bit of a challenge for tall folks. But we managed and really enjoyed our visit.

Host was amazing!
I did not spend a ton of time at the site due to having pre-planned touristy events. My booking was very last minute, I booked at almost 8pm and arrived at 1030ish. Despite that, he brought the wood i purchased down and even started a fire for me. Area was clean and well manicured. Host graciously allowed me the time I needed to pack up post injury (helped saving someone from drowning broke some ribs on rocks. I will be revisiting this site this fall and likely this coming spring as well..

The levitating tent was comfortable and water tight. A neat experience! Large campsite with room for another tent and our car. Cory and his wife are very responsive and caring. They put a lot into maintaining the campsite. Very private. Central to a lot of attractions in the UP. Highly reccomend!

Camping in the Site 2 Pod will be one of the most memorable experiences for my family and I! It was truly amazing. There are all the amenities to be comfortable and very close to downtown Newberry, which was very convenient with having a 4 year old.
