The outdoor kitchen is fully screened in, and offers basic amenities for communal use, such as a refrigerator, grill, gas burner and griddle, toaster oven, coffee maker, and basic utensils, dishes, pots, and pans. Revelers will live comfortably close to the Earth and immersed in the diversity of flora, fauna, and geology.
Onsite is a separate art studio where we paint, turn wood, and do lapidary art.

This unique camp site is located on a private lane just off US23 in Northern Michigan. Under The Oak on Hammond Bay is designed to accommodate small and large camping units with either a 30A or 50A electrical hook-up. We have a level back-in site with a picnic table and fire ring high speed WIFI included. Firewood can be purchased on site.

Instructions were clear and directions were easy to follow.
One thing I will note is that you truly are rural - there is a grocery store and a few food options, but it's limited. Of you are an early riser, know that many of the food establishments open later.
The site is absolutely gorgeous. I simply could not have asked for a better experience.

Absolutely awesome campsite! The location couldn’t be better—close to the ferry for easy access to Drummond Island, yet tucked away enough to feel completely private and peaceful. The views of Lake Huron and Strawberry Island are absolutely beautiful and make this spot even more special. The host was outstanding—friendly, responsive, and an excellent communicator. Everything exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be back!

This is a beautiful and very private site. I will absolutely be staying here again. The only thing I would caution about is there is poison ivy hanging into the first part of the path leading to the site and that the end of the board that goes over the stream goes into the water when you step on it. But if you keep this in mind when crossing, your foot will stay dry.

This was by far my favorite camping trip. Everything was so clean, calm, serene, well put together, and gorgeous. We drove 7 hours just to spend 2 nights here and it was well worth it. The beauty of the site cannot be fully captured in pictures. Once we arrived, we didn’t even leave the site. So much to do with paddling, exploring strawberry island, walking along the shores and just enjoying the views. This is a one of a kind location. My two dogs had a blast and got to roam free the whole weekend. There is also just an overall safe feeling you get at this campsite.
Everything is perfect and well thought out. I hope to return!

I loved my campsite here! The site itself is cozy and quite small, but I was able to find a comfortable spot to put my 4-person tent. You could see the lagoon and the lake from the campsite, which was great, and the access to the beach is unmatched. Amazing sunset view and stargazing, and I had a wonderful time walking along the beach at sunrise. The only downside is that it's a little stinky and quite buggy because of the sitting water, though I did not see any mosquitos among the bugs.

We truly enjoyed staying at Site 3- Lake Side East last weekend. It was perfect for the two of us and our dog. Previous reviews were accurate and helpful. Site 3 does not have a clear number, like site 1 and 2. We didn't realize at first that we could drive through to site 3, but were excited to see a larger, more private area to park by our site.
The view of the lake from our site was amazing! We didn't have any problem with mosquitoes certainly because of the constant breeze off the lake. The sound of waves crashing all night long was amazing and soothing.
Our only regret was the small things we hadn't prepared well enough for (first timers) and that we didn't have more time to enjoy it all. We have decided we need to return again to site 3, but next time we'll need a week to enjoy it all.

Loved this campsite! Very close to the water with easy access to the boardwalk to access the lake. Only thing to keep in mind is the proximity to the public beach and boat launch means there will be crowd noises until late at night. Otherwise, it is a great campsite in a lovely town. Would 100% come back to experience the beautiful lake vieux and sounds!

We love this place. The cabins right on your own little piece of beach is perfect. Our kids love spending a day just throwing rocks into the lake and swimming.
It's close to Mackinaw City and the bridge for a day trip to the UP.
