You are situated on private land - secluded with easy access to local towns. You’ll find a map of the property parameters in the cabin.
Local towns - Bangor (farm shop for fresh produce in season), Paw Paw (bakery boutique, kayaking), Watervilet & Coloma (kayak rental, outdoor movies in the summer, artes and craft store) Hiking, biking, cross country skiing on the Van Buren and Kal-Haven Trail.

Need a quiet, secluded getaway? Our off-grid cabin is on approximately 10 acres of private woods. As you turn off the main road into our cabin's driveway, you will begin to understand why this is our hidden gem. Enjoy the coziness of a wood stove in the winter or a crackling fire in seclusion in the summer- this little getaway cabin is sure to create fond memories. Maybe you will hear the horned owl at night or see an eagle while you kayak. Your adventure or a peaceful vacation awaits.
The 450-square-foot cabin has a queen bed in the loft and two cots that can accommodate more guests. Guests must be able to climb a wooden log ladder.
The kitchen has a two-burner stove and oven that can hold a 9x13 pan. Although we do not have running water, we do have a hand-washing sink and a sink for washing dishes. We also provide you with plenty of water for washing and drinking during your stay. As it is well water, you may want to take your own drinking water, if you prefer. We also have dishes, utensils, hot dog sticks, fry pie makers, pots and pans, a tripod grill for over the fire, and a small charcoal grill (bring your own charcoal). You will also want to bring a cooler to keep any food cold.
Outside, we have a fire pit, wood to collect or purchase, and a hammock to fully enjoy your stay. Our bathroom is an outhouse and has been described as the “cleanest outhouse in Michigan.” Our latest addition is a seasonal rustic outdoor shower! We provide water that is heated by solar power (or you can heat some on the stove to hurry the process!) The shower is seasonal - only available from May to September.
Within 1/4 mile is the St. Joe River which is a great place for kayaking. We also have kayaks and quads for rent. We also have some short trails on the property and a railroad bed adjacent to the cabin area.
Our cabin is powered by a small and very quiet Honda generator. It is super easy to start. The cabin’s main source of heat is a wood stove with wood we provide. An air conditioner is provided for the summer.
For more than two people will be an additional $10 per night per person.
Pets are a $25 per pet additional fee.
Pets are not to be on furniture and not to be taken into the loft for their protection.

Weekend Trip to Baggins Inn
An amazing place to stay if you are looking for a private rustic getaway! My boyfriend and I picked this site to take our 9mo old puppy camping for the first time and it was an incredible experience. We did a lot of hiking, cooking, and relaxing. We saw deer, possums, and turkeys! Just remember to do tick checks!

Weekend Trip to Baggins Inn
My husband and I travel all over the country and we have stayed at unique locations over the years. This was a unanimous vote for our very favorite. The setting is something straight out of the cinema. You have 360 views of nature and serenity. The cabin is an art installation. It’s phenomenal. The attention to detail is incredible. The smell of it is something I’d wear like perfume. There is no power and low reception and that’s just what we were looking for. The bathroom is a short walk from the cabin. We brought cute little camping lights that made our stay all the more magical. The sounds of the forest around you and the way the sun and moon both shine down in the woodland is magnificent. We weren’t even checked out before deciding we need to plan a trip back. 10/10.

My husband and I really enjoyed camping on John's land. Everything that you need is already there, set up ready to go. The place was very peaceful and quiet. Both of our dogs were able to run around the property and enjoy it just as much as we did. I would definitely plan another stay here.

What an incredible place. So peaceful, so secluded, exactly what we were hoping for. We only stayed one night for this trip, and we all wished we could have stayed longer so we will definitely be planning a longer stay in the future.
The bed was very comfortable, I always worry about that when staying at places away from home. We did have to relocate a few 8-legged friends from inside the yurt when we first arrived, but they didn’t put up too much of a fight.
We got rain during the night, and my new favorite thing is sleeping in a yurt while it’s raining. It was heaven. I love how the yurt is nestled under pines, it’s such a good spot.

We had a wonderful time and Jeff was great! We would certainly recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful, private spot to hangout and relax. The shower, kitchen, and outhouse were much appreciated- I really loved how well maintained and clean the outhouse was! Weekend Trip to Nature’s Refuge
We had such a wonderful stay at John’s glamping yurt! John was an incredibly kind and helpful host—he made us feel welcome right away and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The campsite itself is peaceful and private, surrounded by beautiful grounds that made it easy to relax and unwind.
The setup is fantastic: everything is thoughtfully laid out, from the cozy yurt and outdoor shower to the well-equipped cooking area with a grill, stove, tables, and a great firepit for evenings by the fire. Awesome for our dog, too!! We also had a blast playing cornhole—such a fun touch!
We’re so glad we found this spot and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a private, relaxing, nature-filled getaway with great amenities and an amazing host. Thanks again, John!

We loved our stay at Sandy’s cabin! We’ve stayed in cabins all over the world, and who knew the perfect one was only an 2-hour drive away! Every little detail has been thoughtfully attended to. The cabin is warm and inviting with any item you might need. Bathroom facilities were so clean, and the property is a dream for bird watching and wandering with your dog. It was hard to decide whether to hang out in the sunroom/porch or outside in the lovely, quiet forest setting. Great fire pit area, and dark skies for star gazing. We can’t wait to return!
