We bought this property in 2012 and have built several buildings and forged paths throughout the 32 acres. Our road is part of the North Country Trail, a footpath stretching over 4,600 miles from Middlebury in central Vermont to Lake Sakakawea State Park in central North Dakota. While tearing down the existing house, we constructed two bedrooms in the pole barn for a quick living space. Once settled in the pole barn, we a built a small log cabin with already felled timbers from the local woods, except for the box frame which was purchased from the local Amish. Prior to building our permanent log cabin home, this small cabin was our camp site and is now being rented to people that want to relax and enjoy the outdoors. In the middle of the woods, we created a campground to be enjoyed by hikers and on the North side of our property is a tree line between two fields that is a great small camper/tent camping spot.

Half way between Chicago and Detroit is a city named Kalamazoo. Our place is near the intersection of US 131 and I-94, so whichever direction you are traveling is accessible. Whether you are heading to the beauty of "up north" or running between the big cities east and west, this is a great spot to rest and enjoy some down time. Lake Michigan is a 40 minute drive west from here and if you are a bicyclist, you can ride the Kal-Haven Trail from the trail head about 2 miles from here, all the way to the Big Lake and back (35.5 miles one way). We have trails in the woods and open fields to look over, depending on your preference. As of this year, there is no electricity and water hookup, so tents or trailers with electric and water are your option. We have a bell tent available for a single or a couple to stay. On that same site is room for a trailer or tents, if you want to invite your friends, and we've built a cooking shelter and a bath house that has a compost toilet and a shower with on demand hot water from solar energy. We have a horse farm on the property and offer horse experiences (All our activities are done on the ground near or with the horses, so, no riding is offered) at an additional fee. It is expected that you will remain outside the fence from the horses while you are staying, unless you sign a release and are accompanied by the owner to interact with them. We do not allow dogs. There are two campsites cleared in the woods, for tent camping, and more will be cleared in 2025, as time allows. There will be a bathhouse with a compost toilet and on-demand hot water nearby those campsites. If you want to stay before our build, we will offer a lower rate, but expect you to take away your own waste when you leave or clarify with us where whether there is an appropriate place on the property to dispose of it. At some point during the fall of 2025, we are placing a restored vintage 1957 Ideal camper in a separate area of the property. It will have solar power and an indoor compost toilet, with a stove and sink. It will host a single or a couple who can sleep on a full sized mattress. Another sleeping area may be offered from converting the table, but we are not sure how comfortable it will be until we've completed the renovation.

Private, huge, level but also sloping down to Fawn River site with perfect mix of 🌞 and 🌫️, and a large farm/woods to roam. Road and path to site was smooth enough for my low trailer and car. Hosts were excellent in all ways, just right at being informative, helpful or accommodating, but yet allowed us full privacy. Very interesting areas to explore in both NW Indiana and SW Michigan. The hosts and their farm are exceptional. Ask Mr. Graber about one of the split rocks around the campfire... and sample Mrs. Grabers baked goods. And relax in nature.

Shari and David have created a true little oasis at Graber Oasis! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed - not only by Shari and David, but also by a whole crew of adorable pups that immediately made us smile. We were especially grateful for how kind and accommodating they were when inclement weather forced us to postpone our first night. Their flexibility and communication made a stressful situation so much easier. The campsite itself is spacious, private, and beautifully situated right on the river. The newly installed water pump was incredibly convenient, and we appreciated having plenty of firewood, a picnic table, and hammock posts already set up. The complimentary kayaks and canoes were a fantastic bonus, and the river is perfect for a peaceful paddle. We loved exploring the nearby hiking trails, watching the abundant wildlife, and taking in the beautiful scenery around the property. David was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we enjoyed talking with him and learning more about the area and the property they've thoughtfully created for guests to enjoy. If you're looking for a peaceful riverside getaway with wonderful hosts and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, Graber Oasis is a gem. We left feeling refreshed and already looking forward to our next visit!

What a blessing to have found this spot on my epic road trip! From the moment I made my reservation, the communication was excellent and responsive. Even though I arrived late in the evening, my hosts came out to greet me personally and made sure I had absolutely everything I needed for a comfortable night’s rest. Their genuine warmth and care went above and beyond typical hosting - they truly created a safe, welcoming space for a solo traveler like myself. The morning brought an extra delightful surprise when they checked in on me and I got to meet the adorable newborn goats! This is exactly the kind of authentic connection that makes Hipcamp experiences so special. I’m deeply grateful to have crossed paths with such wonderful people who create not just a place to park, but a true sanctuary for weary travelers. If your journey brings you this way, you’ll be in excellent hands. Highly recommend! 🌟

To start the directions were easy and Shari and David were there to great us. They have a couple hundred acres and the camp site is in the back 40... which they led the way to our beautiful spot by the river. There were plenty of parking options for our trailer to which we backed in under the trees. There is fresh water, picnic table, fire pit and garbage can. There are kayaks available for use in the river...WOW! Sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. It is completely hidden from any civilization. Great place to camp!

Shari and David were incredible hosts. If you want a no frills, beautiful, private, and unique stay, stay here. We will absolutely seek to stay here again if we are in the area. We had travel troubles and didn’t arrive until midnight and they stayed awake to meet us and guide us to our spot. We were grateful for their hospitality, flexibility, and understanding. An absolutely awesome stay!
