10/12/25 The camping season in Michigan is coming to a close. We'll be open through October with full closure starting Nov. 1 through mid-March 2026. If the weather is kind, 2 sites will open, followed by the other 2 beginning May 1. Glad to be able to offer our slice of heaven to you again next year! Thank you to all who chose to stay this year.
***For the preservation of our property, our septic system, the privacy of other campers, all arrivals MUST be prior to dark setting in. If you can't see the signs & posts, you can damage our property AND your vehicle/equipment. Please see the site rules for current max time for check-in. (With changing daylight hours, this time limit will change throughout the season.)
*The property has a lot of wildlife; Deer, Turkey, Rabbits, Coyote, Birds, & Fox.
*A small creek runs across the back of the property.
*There are many lakes just minutes away, as well as the Huron river for fishing & kayaking.
*Public beaches at Lake Chemung & Bishop Lake.
*Campfires allowed. Plenty of dead wood around, or you can purchase firewood bundles onsite.
*Potable water is available to fill water tanks & containers. It is softened from the house.
*Sewer dump station is 5 miles away at Brighton Rec Area (there is a fee).
*Pets are allowed (cats & dogs only). They must be leashed at all times (15 ft. max).
*Guests that are not part of the Hipcamp Reservation, are not allowed on-site. Guests will need to be met at a location other than our Hipcamp. There are numerous places nearby to gather instead. This assures maximum privacy for all sites & for our family.

There's a grocery store, numerous cheese shops, and a variety of party stores and restaurants. For the outdoor enthusiasts, don't miss out on going to the ever-famous "Northwoods Wholesale Outlet". Also nearby is the "Saganing Eagles Landing Casino" in Standish. We have resided here for over 30 years and can assist you in many ways to get the most out of your visit.

My wife and I are slowly starting up our own little farm. We have 2 indoor cats, 1 outdoor cat, a dog, chickens and two ducks.
We are on 34 acres and have a river that runs through the middle of it. We are 10 minutes from Alma and 20 minutes from Mt Pleasant. Lumberjack park is about 2 minutes away and Stearns preserve is about 5 mins away where you can walk or ride bike on a nice paved trail. We have a small garden that we plant every summer and plan to start a small farm stand this year.
We are in a quiet area with lots of wildlife. We have 1 spot near the house with a view of the river that can support electric hook for a smaller RV and can attach a garden hose for water if needed. We do have a “field” that RVs can use but there is no hook up and there ground may not be level. We have many options for rustic tent camping along the river. No public restroom available. We can also provide some fire wood for campfires for a small cost. Along the river fires are allowed but must be contained in a fire ring. If camping by the field fires will be dependent on conditions.
We have 3 kayaks and a canoe that can be used with prior consent. There is a park up river where you can put in and then can exit at our house which is about an hour on the river.
We are very new to this and just purchased a UTV so we will be able to start making trails and clearing areas. But for now, camping along the river you will have to walk (and carry belongings) through tall grass to the site you desire.
Quiet time 11 pm. We are an easy going couple that just want to share this slice of paradise with others!

Perfect spot to have some privacy and feel safe. Camping on grass and some level ground is really nice as opposed to a beet down Public camp ground.
I sat and talked with owner Tom, great guy. They call people like this good folk. Real good site too solid ground, lots of geese and cranes went by multiple times. Loved the stay here. We tested out a new air tent here had several nice fires and ate few really good steaks our last night. I almost hate post up here about this little gem in fear of others finding out about this gem. Oh did I mention how Responsive and respectful Julie was in returning information and questions getting answered.

This is my second time staying here, my first time being about a year ago! This time I knew to take my time and plan out at least a couple days to stay. "The Elysium" is such a majestic property that feels like it goes on and on and on! I really enjoyed walking the trails and paddling on the pond with my dog - both stretch from the front of the property allllll the way to the back cabin in the words!
It is super quiet out here, and the stars shine so bright. It was lovely to see that they've added an outhouse, and all the new animals on the farm! Goats, chickens, doves, bunnies, emus... The cutest thing I saw was that one of the baby goats made friends with a wild baby dear! They would play together in the evenings around sunset time, and sometimes the bunnies would join them. It felt like straight out of a Disney movie!
So much time and love has been poured into making the Elysium what it is today. It absolutely shows, and moreso, can be felt the moment you arrive on the site. I don't know when I'll be back next, but I do know, I'll be back! This might be my most favorite Hipcamp I've come across yet :)

I've been camping at various Hipcamps this summer. While each and every experience has been wonderful, Tom and Julie's land is outstanding with beautiful scenery. They've thought of everything. Easy to follow site map, land markers to each private campsite, wooded trails with a bridge covered creek, an open meadow and "park", potable water, an oder free valted outhouse with easy access to each site, fire rings, firewood (for a small fee) and a sled to pull the wood to each site, and best of all, they are great hosts. This is a must camp experience rich in history. I'm looking forward to camping here this fall to view all of the fall colors.

Beautiful scenery
Grassy area
Friendly neighbors
Lots of hiking
Great country roads for ATV
Quiet and serene (most of the time)
Cons:
No fishing or swimming in the pond
Neighbors came down to the site from the neighborhood
Not much privacy because it sits right down from a public street. It was hard to find a place to use the bathroom because of the surrounding homes.
Would definitely go back even though we didn’t see much wildlife it was still very beautiful there.

Enjoyed the quiet, calm of the camp spot. Went to Brighton Recreation Beach about 10 mins away. Very relaxing spot for a small getaway.

The spot is real easy to get too. Very private. Set up is great. Fire pit and picnic table available. Space to pull in and out easily. Lots of animal sound to relax too!

The campsite was incredibly private, surrounded by nature, and had beautiful trails right from the site. Perfect for relaxing, disconnecting, or just enjoying quiet time in nature. The host was also great — communicative and welcoming. We’d absolutely come back!
