We're a non profit community garden in the Old Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans on the West Bank of the Mississippi River, a 15 minute drive or ferry ride to the French Quarter. We use the money from these bookings to fund the community food access work that we do. While you're here you can enjoy our peaceful and spacious garden property, and we encourage you to get to know some of the fantastic neighbors who use our community fridge and herb garden.
Take the scenic Mississippi River Levee Path 1 mile to get to the Algiers Ferry dock which departs every 30 minutes and drops you off at the foot of Canal Street in the heart of New Orleans. If you have a car you can cross the bridge and get to most of the city in 15 minutes. You can also explore Algiers Point with its many restaurants, bars, local art and historic buildings. We love bayou peninsula! This is our second time to stay here and it was even better than the first time. Deborah is a lovely host and her property is beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable. this place was definitely bare bones but also very safe, clean and accessible. the owner was super nice and made sure to stay up and available for our arrival around 10pm.
there is a train that goes behind the park and it’s super loud!! we play rainstorm noises in the RV at night so it wasn’t too bad but maybe bring earplugs if that sort of noise would bother you.
this is a great place to pass through! we will most likely be back when we take some time to visit new orleans.

Such a fantastic and beautiful property and at a great price. Clyde was a tremendous host who was generously accommodating during my stay. Enjoyed the conversations, the environment, fishing, beautiful and peaceful views of his property. Ducks and chickens hang out as part of the family. I caught several big mouth bass, black crappie and other types of fish in the lake. This was my first stay on Hipcamp, and it will be a tough accommodation to beat, especially for the price. A definite worthwhile Hipcamp offering that I hope to make it back in my travels.
