WELCOME TO BUTTE LA ROSE, THE HEART OF THE ATCHAFALAYA BASIN AND THE HEART OF ACADIANA:
In the early 1930s when the Army Corps of Engineers carved two long levees right through the Atchafalaya River Basin, what had once been a widely sprawling river system prone to seasonal flooding became a fifteen-mile-wide "spillway" contained between those two earthen walls. The water level in the Basin rose by several feet, permanently flooding many areas, and people who had made their homes there eventually moved to communities on the dry, western side of the levee--Henderson, Catahoula, Bayou Benoit and beyond--leaving no trace of the old settlements behind. Only one community remained. Perched on a ridge along the banks of the Atchafalaya River, Butte La rose is the only community in St. Martin Parish that is still located between the Basin levees. No other place can claim to be the heart of Atchafalaya as credibly as Butte La Rose can. The community is nestled against one of the more winding meanderings of the Atchafalaya River, and residents remain closely tied to the river and other nearby waterways--fishing, crawfishing, frogging and hunting, enjoying bayou-side crawfish boils and pleasure boating. So many waterways surround Butte La Rose--Butte La Rose Canal, Henderson Lake, Lake Begneaux, Lake Pelba--it's as close to an island as you can get without actually being an island.
We are only 3 miles from interstate 10 but we are a small remote camping village.
Many hummingbirds visit here every year. They arrive in March and leave in Sept.

Located about 15 minutes from downtown Natchitoches on a quiet street that parallels the bayou Bourbeaux. Giant ancient oaks tower over the property. There are old pecan trees and lots and lots of flat green grass. You can put your tent or rv/trailer/camper/car/boat/atv basically anywhere you’d like. There’s a central fire pit in the grassy area and a propane one on the porch.
We have hammocks and giant connect 4, jenga, tic tac toe and cornhole. There’s also an unheated seasonal above ground pool you can use with a waiver.
Tents: There is no outhouse but for an extra charge we can provide a porta potty and potty tent as well as a water pump for water. Breakfast is included in the price.
RVs: we prefer you be self contained but if you need electric you can park on our driveway and use the outlet on the side of the house. We can fill you up with water from the hose if needed. Breakfast is included at the bed and breakfast!
Lodging: this is also a full service bed and breakfast.
We are the PERFECT spot to host family reunions. Families can camp and use the bed and breakfast for the weekend with plenty of space for everyone!
We also host small weddings!
It’s quiet. Birds are always chirping. You can watch the beautiful sunrise each morning from the rocking chairs on the old farmhouse porch. Have s’mores and watch the stars at night. Explore Natchitoches and the many nearby lakes during the day.
We can also rent you kayaks.
If you’d like additional meals beyond breakfast, we can serve you (additional cost).
We are also a tea room. If you’d like a traditional English tea under the oaks, let us know!

We have hammocks and giant connect 4, jenga, tic tac toe and cornhole. There’s also an unheated seasonal above ground pool you can use with a waiver.
Tents: There is no outhouse but for an extra charge we can provide a porta potty and potty tent as well as a water pump for water. Breakfast is included in the price.
RVs: we prefer you be self contained but if you need electric you can park on our driveway and use the outlet on the side of the house. We can fill you up with water from the hose if needed. Breakfast is included at the bed and breakfast!
Lodging: this is also a full service bed and breakfast.
We are the PERFECT spot to host family reunions. Families can camp and use the bed and breakfast for the weekend with plenty of space for everyone!
We also host small weddings!
It’s quiet. Birds are always chirping. You can watch the beautiful sunrise each morning from the rocking chairs on the old farmhouse porch. Have s’mores and watch the stars at night. Explore Natchitoches and the many nearby lakes during the day.
We can also rent you kayaks.
If you’d like additional meals beyond breakfast, we can serve you (additional cost).

We are situated on the Mississippi River just 4 miles south of New Orleans, 7 miles of the French Quarter and 9 miles to the Jazz Fest, City Park and 10 miles to the Lake Front. There are bike lanes and routes to many points of interest, along with bus, taxi and uber/lyft
We are also 22 miles from Delacroix Island and Hopedale where there are several charter services for those interested in a great fishing/hunting experience.
Our property is quite, safe and rustic. We have a firepit and grills. There is running water, but no electricity or bathroom at present time.
This property is great for tent camping or sprinter vans. We also are open to hosting BBQs/Seafood Boils, Live music, for small gatherings at additional charge.
Good pets welcome. No aggressive animals allowed.
Check in is 8am to 7pm. Quiet time is 10pm to 7am.

The historic French built antebellum plantation home and gardens was built circa 1793-1820. The home and gardens is located on the Ouachita River. We can wine and dine you at the plantation dinner table with home cooked Louisiana cuisine (optional for an extra cost) & get you liquored up with mint juleps, homemade absinthe, mix drinks, etc. anywhere on the plantation grounds is acceptable to pitch a tent and make a campfire. we can provide wood, & possible minimal electricity to your camp area for now. there is access to water at the greenhouse area, as well as electricity. the greenhouse is a culinary herb farm and nursery, no smoking tobacco near the nursery and greenhouse area.

Wow this wonderful place is not only charming but has so much to do around it. Ginny & Scotty are the most wonderful hosts. Ginny has all information for you when you arrive about restaurants, local pubs, 100 yr old store that was a gem. They have a very level spot with a picnic table, Tiki torches and a very nice porch to sit and enjoy getting to know each other. We cant wait to come back.

Awesome site! Very nice and easy access right off the road. We arrived late at night and were able to drive right in and hookup since the host had provided extension connections for all services. Very quiet location and very well maintained. Hosts were very kind and provided us with printed local information for the area as well as a small gift. Would definitely visit again the next time we are in the area!

Absolutely the sweetest hosts we have ever encountered. We ended up with car trouble just before we hit the campsite and they were so kind and helpful. Upon arrival we recieved a brochure highlighting local history and attractions complete with good recommendations and sites to see, and even a welcome gift. We decided to stay an extra night. Hosts are friendly and kind, site it well kept and peaceful, and the setting couldn’t be more lovely.

Very tranquil and beautiful spot in nature. Just what the doctor order after packing it out of New Orleans enroute to Denver. Damon is super helpful and will accommodate you. He moved me in closer and mowed grass before I moved over too. Definitely would return!

We really enjoyed our two nights at Damon’s camp site. It was so quiet and peaceful, exactly what we needed. Upon arrival, Damon provided the electric cord and it was easy to get hooked up. Water hose was near by, the shower and flush toilet, located in an older trailer was much appreciated.

The camping area is very large and very secluded. It is mowed grass surrounded by old pecan trees. It is next to a river, but with my bad knees I didn't venture to the top of the dike. Breston invited me in for seafood gumbo and cornbread. I had a great chat with him. I also met his father. I gave him some money for the meal, but I had no problem with that. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys southern hospitality.
