We live on 70 secluded acres adjoining the Shawnee National Forest area with some hiking opportunities, woods and water activities that we would love to share with you. Close to Garden of the Gods (10 min), Rimrock, Pounds Hollow, Belle Smith Springs, Lusk Creek and other trails. The site is located on a land peninsula next to a small spring fed pond. Although private, surrounded by trees, it is a very convenient location on hwy 68, 3 miles East of Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky.
There is a 50 amp outlet available near the gravel pad. We have a 30’ cord available. Water is available. This is a single private site. No other campers at this location. We have an antique store 125’ away that is open to the public once per month and hosts occasional creative classes. The store cannot be seen from the camp site so you will enjoy complete privacy. Also note there is a paved bike trail across the highway so easy access for bicyclists. The pond is stocked with bass and blue gill for a photo op and release.

The property offers four gravel RV campsites with electric and water hookups. There are no sewer connections at the individual campsites, but an RV dump station is available on the property.
Please note that the access route to the dump station is grass and soil rather than gravel. During or following wet weather, this area may become soft and muddy, making access to the dump station difficult. Guests should contact the host before using the dump station when conditions are wet.
Bring your fishing gear and cast for crappie, bass and bluegill. Fishing is catch and release only. Guests may also swim, hike the property and enjoy the natural sights and sounds of the waterfall flowing from the lake.

Camp toilet on site. Composter available for vegetarian food waste. 7 gallon water jugs available for handwashing and pan washing, just use biodegradable soap.
Although there are no showers available to campers/guests, I can provide a large washing jug.
Plenty of hiking is available at LBL, just 8 miles away. I can provide intel on good fishing and backcountry spots. There is fantastic antiquing and thrifting in Cadiz and Murray, and I can introduce you to the Amish market for the most affordable groceries you've ever bought in your life.
I love to cook for people especially if it's a group. It'll usually be vegan chili con carne and skillet cornbread, Korean chajangmen, or some tasty variety of Asian seasoned vegetable soup with homemade bread. I am ovo-lacto vegetarian except in cases of hunting guests offering their own catfish, bass, venison, boar or turkey, in which case I fire up the bbq and get busy, because hunters are essential for environmental preservation. The fire ring is available for traditional cast iron cooking.
Dogs under 50 lbs are welcome if they're trained, you clean up after them, keep them leashed around guests and kenneled at night. I have 2 small dogs and I can kennel them on request.

Sonny hills was a great place to stay! Jennifer and her husband were fantastic hosts, very friendly and accommodating. We chose a very hot couple days to stay and the pond was great to cool off in. What we saw of the cabin it looked very nice as well and their non-electric sites were all in shade with close access to the toilet and pond. Their dogs were great to meet and well behaved. definitely not all in your business but would come to visit every now and then. We would love to go back and enjoy their property again in the future!

Jennifer and John have a beautiful and tranquil private property. It was so peaceful, I wish I could stay forever! They are the best hosts, checking to make sure we had everything we needed, providing us with a fire pit, fire wood, and delicious veggies from their garden. They offered us use of their kayak to use in their lake but we ran out of time. We will definitely be back when we pass through the area again. I highly recommend you choose this location if you are planning a trip to Garden of the Gods, it’s better than any campground I’ve ever been to and it’s only a 10 minute drive.

I had a wonderful time at Sonny Hills despite having some chronic issues flare up. The front part of the property is meticulously maintained, with lots of relaxing trails to meander on. Unfortunately, I had to retreat to a hotel and Jennifer was so kind making sure I was alright. If I am ever in the area again, I would love to explore their camp more.

The location was easy to find and close to all the great hiking trails in the area. Jennifer and John were so kind and hospitable and made sure we had everything we needed, including providing firewood and a fire ring. When the weather turned very bad, they opened their guest cabin to us to keep us safe and dry. Wonderful people and a wonderful property!

We had a wonderful time at Sunny Hills during the solar eclipse. We spent 4 nights here. The hosts, Jennifer and John were very accommodating and welcoming. They went above and beyond with a little care package with snacks, extra eclipse glasses and informative literature about the nearby national forest as well as all the local emergency services numbers. Their five dogs (4 of them were Irish Wolfhounds) were also welcoming and very mild mannered. We loved them! We camped in our 5th wheel right in front of their little fishing lake, and basically had free roam of their 70 acres. We highly recommend this beautiful piece of heaven and would definitely like to go back.

I recently took my first solo camping trip at Sonny Hills and it was so peaceful, private and relaxing! John and Jennifer are both such incredible people and I’m so thankful to have found such a neat camping spot! They included firewood during the stay and kept an eye out to make sure I made it home after each day of solo hiking! Jennifer even joined me on a day of hiking! I’m so pleased with my experience!
