As of 2026, Beardsnest provides a glimpse into the 5th year of succession, which is characterized by spacious views of a gently rolling young prairie that is flanked by the rocky and steep slopes of a mature forest.
Pet friendly and a good fit for self-sufficient types that prefer quiet camping over dense layouts, but still want to get into to the park quickly (~6.2 miles to Visitors Center) or travel into Cave City (3 mi) for a greater variety of food, drink, and other cave experiences. Expand from campsites into a sketch-work of prairie and woodland trails featuring characteristic karst elements of topography.
Visitor support allow us to plant trees (~530 seedlings as of March 2026), establish native grasses and flowers, restore wetlands, create trails, and remove invasive species.
In our opinion, the essential Mammoth Cave NP experience should have 3 basic layers: 1) the underworld (cave tours), 2) upper world (hiking), and critically, the flow of water that connects the two (Green River). Mammoth Cave is unique in the way that a study of the underworld will repeatedly draw the mind into a creative space where we imagine what is beneath the surface and how these worlds are linked, while above ground hiking on land or kayaking on the rich and biodiverse Green River. There is more here than can be digested in a lifetime of observation, but examining in orbits of the 3 layers will provide a foundation of intuition and understanding.
Floating the Green River is like leaving developed reality and dropping into pure nature. We offer kayak trips and guided tours that leave from camp, tailored to your schedule.

You will drive 2 miles down a chip sealed road and then almost a mile down a dirt road past where the public road ends. Stay as connected or as disconnected as you want. Our farm offers the perfect escape from the day to day race of life. If you want to get away come spend a few days with us!!! We only allow booking of one camp site at time to ensure your privacy. Upon arrival there are 2 sites to pick from(see map in photos section). Camp firewood available for purchase at the barn on your way in. If you're looking for a place to camp this summer in Warren County, look no further. Here at Old Martinsville Trail Camp, we offer several campsites for your family and friends to enjoy. Our property spans more than 23 acres of forest and open meadows and borders the West Fork of Drakes Creek. Between our upper and lower fields, you can still walk along the old horse-and-buggy trail that once led to the "lost city" of Martinsville.
No matter where you choose to camp on the property, all guests have access to the creek and hiking trails. We ask that you be mindful and respectful of other visitors who may be staying at the same time. The creek is a shared area, and tents are not permitted on the gravel along the water's edge. Please set up camp along the field borders or in the wooded areas.
We are just 15 minutes south of Bowling Green and only a 10-minute drive from the nearest gas station and Dollar General. We do not offer Wi-Fi, and cell phone service can be very limited near the creek. You may need to go to the end of the driveway—or even the end of the road—to get a signal. We hope you'll enjoy the opportunity to disconnect and relax.
In the event of an emergency, we are available at the house if you need to use a phone to call 911. We do not provide restroom facilities, so please bring a camping toilet if desired. If you choose to use the property for bathroom needs, please be respectful, leave no trash behind, and either bury waste properly with a shovel or pack it out with your trash.
Our campsites are primitive, with no running water or electricity. Fire pits are not provided, but campfires are permitted when conditions allow. We do not provide firewood, and guests are responsible for checking local burn restrictions before lighting a fire. During active burn bans in Warren County, all fires are prohibited.
Be sure to bring insect repellent, such as OFF!® or mosquito spray. We do our best to keep the grass around the campsites trimmed. As with any natural setting, please watch for snakes in and around the water, especially near brush piles and fallen wood.
Pets are welcome if they are friendly and well-socialized. Please keep pets on a leash whenever other guests or dogs are nearby unless all animals are comfortable and get along well.

We loved staying at Riney Farm! It was a short 6 mile drive from I-65, making it convenient for a stop for the night, which is what we did. I only booked the site two hours before our arrival. It's a pull through site with a wide area in which to turn out upon leaving. April warned us about their peacocks being loud at night since it's their brooding season, but they never once disturbed us. I would come here again if I was passing through the area.

As beekeepers we were excited to find Bee Springs Kentucky and Bee Happy Campground. Roomy camping sites though our camper is only 16 feet there were bigger ones there with plenty of room. It was clean and quiet and Christie is very responsive. The clear night sky made for some great stargazing and pictures on top of the hill.

Loved this site! We arrived after sunset and our host called and offered us mag lights if we needed them. It is so nice and dark you can see soooo many stars! We arrived and just stargazed for awhile, we stargazed both nights actually. Our hosts were so nice! Super close to Mammoth Cave National Park! It looks like there’s a lot to do in the area, different caves and what not, unfortunately we didn’t have time for all those. I wish I took more pictures too.

2d is the best! We had such a good time and are definitely planning a return trip. All the glamp sites are amazing if you want to stay in a structure instead of a tent. Our R/V spot was amazing and we enjoyed having the showers right there next to our site. We enjoyed playing in the river, fishing, running around in the fields and watching for all the wildlife. I did not have been happier with our choice to stay at old chimneys RV parks, it was small quiet and private with very good size lots and complete hookups for your RV.
It was close to everything that we wanted to see and some things that we didn't know that were there I would highly recommend to stay at Old chimney if you're just looking for somewhere to put your RV while you're in the area!

Was a wonderful site had full hookup for our RV we have around 27 foot camper and we had no problem with backing in with plenty of room. Definitely recommend this site was amazing.

What a great campground. The owners were present, engaging and very helpful. The campground is very well maintained and in close proximity to many outdoor activities. The sites are very well spaced and you are not squeezed in like sardines as with many other campgrounds. We will definitely be staying there again.
