The Hughes Holler camp site is located in the mix grassed prairie of central Kansas. The site was once a homestead of some of the early pioneers of the area. While none of the remnants of the former farmstead remain. The the tranquility of sitting at a campfire on the banks of the pond can let ones mind wonder about what life would have been like living there in days gone by.
The site includes a spring fed pond with abundant fishing, predominately white bass. Guests are allowed to keep any fish they wish to eat on site. But please release any others back into the pond. There is a wooded area which provides nice shade for an area to relax from the Kansas summer sun and wind. Campers can also enjoy a camp fire either pond side of underneath the trees.
Sleeping accommodations are in a deluxe water proof tent. There are 2 queen air mattress which will comfortably sleep 4 people.
There is also a composting toilet on site.
Glamping Hosts provide some hot drink mixes, a coffee perculator, pot for boiling water, or making soup, a cooking grate for the fire, some hygiene products. We are working on a solar shower!
We are located 2 miles from the Kanopolis Lake wildlife and recreation area. Which includes numerous hiking trails at Horse Thief canyon. As well as 7 miles from historic Marquette with its unique downtown shops and activities: distillery, motorcycle museum, soda fountain shop/homemade ice cream, disc golf course, grocery store, bar and grill and liquor store. Also, located just 15 miles from Little Swedon, Lindsborg, KS. Great shopping and museums, art galleries for you enjoyment!

A lot of work has been put into restoring this missile silo and the tour is very informative.
Matthew is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the future of this silo.
I tent camped and there are shaded areas not far from the silo. Cornhole and picnic table on site.

What a great campsite! This is an excellent place to stay a night or two if traveling across Kansas. Tom is awesome and made sure everything is perfect, with picnic tables, tons of firewood, an outdoor shower and a compost toilet in the bathroom...all located amongst trees that provide privacy. Highly recommended.

The restrooms and shower facilities were very clean, and there was always both hot and cold water available. Everything was well maintained, and I would be happy to stay here again. My kids, dog, and I had a great time tent camping at Atlas Ad Astra! Seeing what Matthew has done to clean up and improve the property and old Atlas launch facility after it had been basically abandoned for 50+ years is truly amazing. We all enjoyed a tour of the facility before packing up our campsite. Matthew is knowledgeable and was a great guide explaining things and answering lots of questions from my son. We look forward to staying here again on our next trip through Kansas!

Tom’s property and hospitality is top-notch! We ended up coming into camp around midnight, much later than we anticipated. Tom made sure that we had exact directions to get to our campsite and found it with no problem at all. The shower house and toilet are a nice touch. The common area was fun for all of us watching the frogs jump and the dogs wandered into the little stream. The sky was absolutely incredible. We will definitely return.

This place was great. It’s still a work in progress but you can tell the Owner loves what he does and it shows in all the hard work. You are out in a field (with trees) in just shear peace and quiet. I was a bit on the fence about the tour, but having done it, I would highly recommend it. It’s fascinating and the Owner really makes it personal. Walking trails, campfires, swings, cornhole, and sunsets. Stop in, take the tour, be enriched.
