And, if you are lucky, Kim will bring you a basket of fresh baked goods. Farm dogs Charlie and Buddy, no doubt, will be there to tag along on your tour - but not to worry, they are friendly dogs who keep guard over the chickens and goats, and are sure to become your two new best friends. After your tour of the vast and serene property, you will be shown to one of the three group tents, or the more secluded tent on the other side of the property - depending on which tent(s) you reserved. All of the glamping tents are safari style with spacious interiors and luxurious details you are sure to love. The three group tents can sleep up to 4 each, and are furnished with a queen and two twin-sized beds, along with cozy decor. Come reconnect with nature and rejuvenate by the water at this unforgettable escape. Stargaze, watch sunsets, or curl up and read on the 15 foot hammock by the water. You’ll see lots of wildlife-ducks, geese, a great blue heron, deer, and more have been spotted by the pond. The pond is about an acre in size and we also own the hay field south of the pond all the way to the road. You are welcome to walk around the pond on the path we’ve mowed and can also walk the field (depending on the time of year). It’s a hay field and you’ll see all sorts of vegetation growing up, including some beautiful wildflowers in the spring. The RV spot is in a large grassy area next to an apple and peach tree. We also have a small asparagus patch and a raised bucket garden with tomatoes. Feel free to grab a couple items to add to your dinner as needed (depending on the season). We do have barn cats (and frequently kittens) that might venture over to say hello and a new puppy named Pepper. Pepper loves new people, but wears a collar connected to an electric fence outside, so he won’t be able to reach your rv spot. However, you are more than welcome to walk to him and give him all the love and snuggles. We also have three children that you may see outside climbing trees, reading in homemade hammocks, or playing cabbage ball in the yard. For the explorers, there are plenty of gravel roads to bike, kayaks and a paddleboat available for the pond, and plenty of fish in the pond to catch. There is also an apple orchard up the road that has a small storefront and a mini golf course in the back. Emporia is only 4 miles south of us so there’s plenty of grocery stores and restaurants nearby.

We chose Bare Ass Acres for its excellent reviews and for its proximity to the Tall Grass Prairie National Preserve. The good reputation is well deserved: Brenda is a very welcoming host, the sites are fairly flat, with water and electricity, and availability of sewer. You can hear the train, but it certainly didn't keep us awake. We stayed 2 nights. Brenda, we enjoyed our conversations. If we ever travel to this area again we will definitely stay at this hipcamp again.

3 nights at Camping @ the Horse Farm

Cheryl gave us the option to switch to site 2 because our hook-ups are on the Driver's side. We had trouble getting level in site 1 due to the recent rains that made the ground very soft, so in the end we stayed in Site 2. Site 1 has a beautiful pasture view and nearby playground, and Site 2 has a fun view of the beautiful horses. You can't go wrong with either site. There are also dogs, roosters, turkeys, and goats nearby. The cacophony of farm sounds didn't bother us, but warrant mentioning in case potential guests reading this review are sensitive to noise. There is also an Air Force base nearby, but I barely noticed it. The resident dogs are free-roaming, but they are friendly. My dog isn't generally a fan of other dogs, and the resident doggies were not a problem for us. Site 2 has full hook-ups, and we didn't need any leveling blocks at all. We enjoyed our stay very much and appreciated the flexibility to switch sites at the last minute. Even with the significant rain, the ground drained well around the site and the driveways. We had no trouble walking our dog or pulling the trailer in and out. We love the Hipcamp experience a thousand times more than RV parks. We are so grateful that owners like Cheryl host RVers.

Oh my goodness!! Can I give 10 stars? 🥰 Leah is the sweetest, kindest and oh so gracious host. We had such a beautiful time on her farm. Such love and creativity everywhere you see and walk. We were treated like family. Was actually teary saying goodbye!! Every aspect was perfect. Homey, beautiful and so so welcoming. Do not pass this beautiful place up. We are leaving w such beautiful memories. Sweet Kiddies, kittens and adorable dog all completed the sweet stay. 🥰

We had a delightful stay at Leah’s Little Spot on the Prairie. The site was level with easy access to electricity and water. Leah and her family were lovely. It was quiet and peaceful. The best part for my husband was fishing in their pond where he caught, bass, crappie and perch! We would definitely stay again!

We loved our stay at the Sparrow tent. The tent was very large, well-decorated, and comfortable to sleep in. We were able to cook up a great breakfast and enjoy it in the darling outside eating area. The hosts were great and met all our needs. We would highly recommend staying here.

Would recommend and plan to stay again if we are in the area. Host is fantastic and goes above and beyond. We had a rooftop tent which was a good fit for the space. Area was private-there’s a bit of traffic noise, but did not bother us.

This is a wonderful location, peaceful, quiet, beautiful, well maintained with great facilities. The hosts were most helpful and engaging. The wildlife was abundant. And the we had a blast rain and shine. We stayed in the school bus, which was beautifully decorated and very comfortable with air conditioning . The rain on the tin roof was like being sung to sleep. But the tents were pretty awesome as well. I highly recommend this location.

We chose this location as a halfway point for our road trip to Denver. The space was spacious enough for both my partner and me. The house was cozy and had plenty of room to relax and enjoy stargazing at night. It was a great place to stay for the night, and we highly recommend it to anyone passing through Kansas.
