While cruising the winding backroads of the Flint Hills to the property, you will immediately become enchanted by the peaceful scenery, beautiful skies with striking cloud formations, wind swirling through the trees, an abundance of animal life, and the flora and fauna. When you arrive at the property, hosts Kirt and Kim will be there to greet you with a smile, and give you a tour of the grounds. And, if you are lucky, Kim will bring you a basket of fresh baked goods. Farm dogs Charlie and Buddy, no doubt, will be there to tag along on your tour - but not to worry, they are friendly dogs who keep guard over the chickens and goats, and are sure to become your two new best friends. After your tour of the vast and serene property, you will be shown to one of the three group tents, or the more secluded tent on the other side of the property - depending on which tent(s) you reserved. All of the glamping tents are safari style with spacious interiors and luxurious details you are sure to love. The three group tents can sleep up to 4 each, and are furnished with a queen and two twin-sized beds, along with cozy decor. There is no electricity in the tents, but there are lanterns and solar lights to help guide your way back to your retreat after dark. The group tent area also includes a community fire pit for late night S'mores, another outdoor area with a gazebo and a grill, and an enclosed outhouse and shower. The secluded tent is for those who want a little more privacy. This tent is furnished with a queen size bed, and is stylishly decorated. This tent also includes a fire pit, private outdoor seating area with grill, and a private enclosed outhouse and shower. Along with the incredible tents, Dry Creek Post also offers many perks that bring guests back time after time. There is a shared outdoor kitchen with a grill, sink, propane oven, and an outdoor dining table large enough to seat 10, plus, the Rowdy Rooster Clubhouse. The Rowdy Rooster is the infamous clubhouse that is always a hit with guests. This clubhouse is original to the property, and was renovated by owners, Kim and Kirt, for guest use. Along with the hand-painted "Texaco" sign on the floor, the clubhouse has a rustic feel, and gives you the feeling that you have stepped back in time, or into a really cool bar in the city. The Rowdy Rooster includes a bar area, mini fridge, table and chairs, popcorn machine, lots of games, and blankets for chilly nights. Its the perfect spot to sit and play cards, have a few cocktails, or an impromptu dance party. The Rowdy Rooster also has an attached deck with seating, another fire pit, and a movie screen for special movie nights! While there are many activities at Dry Creek Post to keep you busy, there are also many scenic places to visit in the area. Some of those locations include Chase State Fishing Lake, Council Grove Lake, Herington City Lakes, Flint Hills Scenic Byway, Flint Hills Wildfire Drive, Marion Reservoir, and the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. There are also many cultural events in the area, including the Flint Hills Rodeo, Unbound Gravel, and Symphony in the Flint Hills. You'll also want to make a stop at the historic Chase County Courthouse in Cottonwood Falls, an Italianate architectural stunner that is still in use today. After visiting the courthouse, there are shops, an art gallery, antique shops, and spots to eat, so go out and wander the charming downtown area and support the local community. No matter what your adventure is within the area, Dry Creek Post is the perfect spot to unwind and find tranquility, an experience you won't soon forget.

Dry Creek Post is nestled in the beautiful Flint Hills of Kansas, surrounded by nature and wildlife, located just 15 minutes west of the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. Dry Creek Post is a family run business, and private property. We offer glamping tents with bedding, and some furniture, an outdoor shower and restroom, and a clubhouse with outdoor kitchen for your enjoyment. No other amenities are provided. Please bring everything you will need for a camping experience (other than a tent and bedding). The secluded tent is on the other side of the property, away from the group glamping tents. This tent sleeps 2 max. If you need to make a reservation for more than 2 people, you will need to book this tent and the group tents individually. (For instance, if you say there are 4 in your party, Hipcamp will tell you there is no availability since this tent only sleeps 2.) Check in is only available between the hours of 3pm and 9pm. Please plan accordingly.

Glamping on the Prairie

We loved our stay at the Sparrow tent. The tent was very large, well-decorated, and comfortable to sleep in. We were able to cook up a great breakfast and enjoy it in the darling outside eating area. The hosts were great and met all our needs. We would highly recommend staying here.

This is a wonderful location, peaceful, quiet, beautiful, well maintained with great facilities. The hosts were most helpful and engaging. The wildlife was abundant. And the we had a blast rain and shine. We stayed in the school bus, which was beautifully decorated and very comfortable with air conditioning . The rain on the tin roof was like being sung to sleep. But the tents were pretty awesome as well. I highly recommend this location.

Staying out in the flint hills in a canvas tent was beyond relaxing. I slept so good with the breeze blowing through and the super comfortable bed with plenty of pillows and blankets. It was perfect to sit around the campfire and then walk 15 feet to go to sleep out there in the peace and quiet. It’s super clean and has every amenity you need including a bathroom and shower. Highly recommend!

Off the beaten path just enough to make it nothing but beautiful, peaceful and serene. The tents are furnished with comfy beds and the Roudy Rooster is stocked with more essentials than you will need. (pots, pans, utensils, dishes, games) We left for the evening and came back to 2 welcoming and warm fire rings glowing.

Lovely quiet country setting. Well thought out setup with extras like gathering shelter with electricity, gas grill, fire pit, wifi, and extra things you might have forgotten. We took the opportunity to visit the small towns around, like Cottonwood Falls, Council Grove. The hosts are very welcoming.

Set up was perfect, lots and lots of amenities. They made us feel right at home, and Charlie the dog was the sweetest! Heated tents, hot showers, grills, the list goes on. The only thing you need is a love for the outdoors, food and bag of clothes, everything else was provided and available. Decor was absolutely gorgeous. We can’t wait to come back and stay again.

Our first Glamping experience was wonderful! Kirt and Kim have created an outdoor space that is inviting for couples and families. The tents are spacious and the beds and bedding are very comfortable. We enjoyed making meals in the outdoor kitchen, playing CornHole, exploring the property and building campfires. Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is a short drive away and shouldn’t be missed. The landscape is stunning. I would absolutely recommend Dry Creek Post for your next getaway.

Another Awesome stay at dry Gulch! I can’t wait to come back again probably in the spring. It is so nice and so very well kept up. Even though our visit was brief we thoroughly enjoyed it. I promise we will be back soon

Sister Glamping Trip

Our mom passed away in September 2021 and my sister's and I knew this first anniversary of her death would be difficult. Mom loved to have us all together so we figured what better way to honor her memory than to book a weekend getaway where we could reminisce and just enjoy one another without the distractions of being in town. Dry Creek Post was the perfect location for just that. We loved hanging out at the clubhouse, sitting by the fire, fixing our meals, and listening to the coyotes/owls. Our beds were very comfortable! The hosts obviously have put a lot of thought in to their camp and I can expect it to only get better the longer they are open. Thank you for having us!

Just got back home from a Labor Day stay at Kim and Kirt's Dry Creek glamcamp! When we arrived, both hosts met us and introduced us to our personal guard - one of their dogs Charlie. The Dry Creek camp has a site more suitable for families and one tent located in a private spot (Meadowlark). We camped there and were very happy to spend two nights away from the lights of the town. Icing on the cake was sighting of a buffalo herd - these majestic animals passed our camp site really close. What a view! Our campsite had its own fully equipped cooking area and bathroom facilities. The tent was roomy and the bedding provided was very comfortable. Peace and quiet as well as the sunsets and sunrises were unforgettable. We'll be back!

We loved our stay here. The owners were super friendly and helpful. You could tell how much care and creativity they put into the campsite - both the tents and the amenities. Our elementary age kids had a blast too and loved checking out the animals and exploring the dry creek bed. The views and sunrise/sunset were gorgeous on the tall grass. We’ll be back!

Camping and Hiking Adventure Awaits

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dry Creek! Kim and Dave are more than gracious hosts. They are creative and innovative. They have transformed a port-a-potty and outdoor shower into an oasis of calm relaxation. The large canvas tent was hip and had all the touches of a hotel. Charging cables and sitting area along with three beds and wonderfully different textured rugs laid out for foot comfort. Outdoor kitchen with all utensils readily available for use. The decor is adorable and not one single spot has been over looked for just the right touch of visual pleasure. My friend and I came to hike Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. We will be back to Dry Creek for Symphony in the Flint Hills. If you are planning a visit to the Flint Hills, you cannot do any better than a stay supplied by Kim and Dave. Excellent, creative, hospitable hosts!

Where do I begin? This hip amp is awesome. The platform tents are furnished with every detail you could think of when camping. They offer hot shorts, community kitchen, board games, movies. You would have to work to be bored!! We would love to come again but probably when it is cooler! lol Awesome weekend and the hosts could not have been more gracious and welcoming!! Thank you so much Kim and Kirt!!

This was a great space and comfortable sleep. The tents are well designed and spacious. Kirk made a fire at the clubhouse for us to enjoy. There is a microwave if you don’t want to cook. We heated up a pizza on the grill. Very fun stay. Their dogs are sweet but do bark at the coyotes at night. You are well protected! :)

Glamping in the Flint Hills

We had a great time at Dry Creek Post and will definitely go back. The property is beautiful and has everything you need for a glamping weekend. We stayed in the secluded camp - it was private but still had a pit toilet and shower and grill near the tent. The bed was very comfortable and the tents are spacious and sturdy. A short drive (15-20 mins) to the Tallgrass Prairie. The Flint Hills are the most beautiful area in Kansas and Dry Creek Post is a great way to experience it.
