I become owner of this property in 2017. The cabins were built in the late 90's financed by the previous owner. The property was vacant for decades prior to that. In the 1950's, the property was a drive-in motel called the 'Harbert Motel'. We have an arial photo from this time period which showed a number of small bungalows for guests, each with its own carport. I love all the stories I hear from locals who have been around long enough to remember how things 'used to be'. Southwest Michigan has an interesting history and has been a 'destination' from city dwellers for close to 100 years. Even Al Capone and his goon's frequented the area as they moved illegal good during the days of prohibition. Learn more about this land: Breweries, Wineries, Berry Picking, Art Studios, Farmers Markets, hiking trails, biking trails, Lake Michigan boating, kayaking, fishing, canoeing.......all those things and more await you in Southwest Michigan. Our goal is to share our property with families who have children that love to ride. A quick story: When I was a kid, one of my dad’s best friends’ parents let us use about 20 acres of their farm and woods, where we set up a little campground. We had a small camper, tents, a fire pit, and a track out in the woods where we rode dirt bikes, four-wheelers, and side-by-sides. The best part was that we could keep our belongings and machines there during the week, so when the weekend came, all we had to do was show up and make memories with family and friends. What to expect lodging at Mustang Sally's: Mustang Sally's offers glamping sites, primitive camping sites and small camper sites. In the future, the plan is to add RV sites and full service cabin sites. The most common question is "What is Glamping?" Well, glamping is glorified camping. Glamping has real beds and other comforts of home but in the camping setting. Non-Glamping sites are available for tents, pop-ups, trucks & van camping. Motorhomes are not allowed at this time. The goal is by end of summer to have tree height cleared in main driveway to allow clearance for RV/Motorhomes. Currently there are no shower facilities as of May 2024. Outhouses are available. Mustang is currently working on what will be called "Bath Row" with the plan of them being finished by July 1, 2024. Bath row will consist of 10 restroom units. Each unit will have it's own private toliet, shower and changing area. Camp Fires are allowed within the fire rings provided at each camp site. Please keep them under control and make sure they are totally out before leaving the camp site. Check in time is 3pm EST Check out is 11am EST. Quiet time is 10 PM to 7 AM Trash cans are located throughout the park. Please tie trash bags completely closed and put your trash completely in the trash container. If the first can is full, please find another container. Please do not place your trash on the ground. Possums and racoons are attracted to left out or disposed of food and while we think they are cute and wonderful animals, we don’t want you to find a surprise in the night of a visiting racoon at your site because of incorrectly disposed of trash! Feel free to bring your own bike. Riding bicycles on our main entrance road is prohibited for the safety of your children and our incoming guests. You are able to ride them everywhere else on the property, just not the main driveway. Cancelling your reservation on the day of or within 7 days prior to arrival will result in no refund. Cancelling your reservation 8 to 14 days prior to arrival, you will be refunded half of your total stay. Cancellations 15 or more days will receive a full refund minus a $15 processing fee. There will be no refunds after you have checked in, for inclement weather, failure to follow the Rules & Regulations, or disorderly conduct. Manager/Owner reserves the right to have discretion on all refunds.

Weekend Trip to The Sugar Shack

We loved coming here and meeting the different farm animals, enjoying the quiet and the peaceful country side. The Sugar Shack is spacious inside (4 adults could sleep comfortably, two in the loft and two under if needed) but still very cozy feeling. We enjoyed using the wood stove for cooking and heat. The table for our meals and games was appreciated too. There is a basic pit toilet just behind the shack. The animals were also excited to greet us whenever we stepped outside. Melanie is a very attentive host and checked that we had everything we needed, she ran an electric cord to the shack for us, brought us a 5 gallon water jug and made sure to point out where we could get more firewood from.

We're already planning our next trip back to Camp David! Perfect spot on the river, and David has thought of everything a guest might need. Better than any hotel - we loved our long weekend here. If you like antiquing there are some fun spots in Rochester about 7 minutes away, along with some great restaurants! Even with some rain, we were able to kick back and relax. Can't wait to stay here again!

The bungalo at Melissa's alpaca farm was fantastic. I stayed 2 weeks before Christmas, and even when the weather was bitter cold, I stayed warm and comfortable in bed with a heated blanket. The place looked great when we arrived, especially lit up at night. Inside, it had that familiar campfire-and-wood smell that made it feel comfortable right away. The heated blanket was the saving grace of the stay. It was in the 30s, and the small radiator heater struggled to keep up, so most of the evening was spent bundled up together under the blanket. The cabin is very small, and the property itself isn’t large either, so you can hear some street noise. Being close to town was convenient, though. We grabbed Chinese carry-out and it was surprisingly good after a cold day. Leslie was thrilled to meet the alpacas, which added a fun moment to the trip. There are several areas set up for groups, and I would definitely come back with friends. The space works well for hanging out and enjoying a simple, low-key getaway.

Wow. What a spot. Everything about our stay was perfect. Such a beautiful place, created by beautiful humans. A creative & cozy place for anyone looking for inspiration & connection! The yurts were heated for our late fall / winter stay and the alpacas were the cutest!!! Thank you Melissa & Jason!

It was great! The ambiance at night was incredible. We had crappy weather while we were there (rained 4 of the 5 days 😅) but we still had a great time. The yurt made the trip doable even with the rain. We’ll definitely be back!

It’s such a cute little place! Perfect if you want to camp, but don’t want to pack all of the stuff that goes with it! And…perfect for you-never-know-about-the-weather weather. Adorable garden and the alpacas are so darn cute!!! Nice a private!!

I really loved it! It was a lot like regular camping but without having to go buy a tent. Plus the tent was amazing inside and out. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to go again!
