Our beautiful 1800’s cabin was moved to the property in the 1970’s by a former neighbor who owned the property at the time. The same neighbor also had a historic train depot moved to the property where she sold antiques out of for several years. It is not sure what the cabin was used for at that time but it certainly added charm to the antique store property. When we acquired the property years later, the cabin was in need of work. It sat for a few years until we decided to restore this lovely cabin back to it’s beautiful charm and character. Jim spent a couple years on the project working in his free time and added the porch using old wood in keeping with the natural look and feel of the cabin as well as some interior areas. Upon completion, we opened the cabin as a gift shop selling unique items including antiques, primitives and decor for a few years. We decided to transition the cabin into a place of retreat for traveling guests and still keep some of the goods we sold in the shop available for purchase. We hope that you find the cabin and property a place of peace and tranquility and will want to return. Whether passing through for a night or a few days stay, you’re always welcome in our neck of the woods. Learn more about this land: Make a stop back in time to our quiet woodland retreat with an updated 1800’s log cabin nestled on the property. Each site is in a wooded, shaded area with a flat area on the ground to place a single large tent. Each site has its own fire ring and a small wooden table. There is wood on the ground you may use for firewood, and ample twigs etc on the ground for kindling (do not cut any trees or branches off trees). There is a covered firewood shed with dry firewood as well. There are maintained trails with river access for kayaks. There are 2 porta potties near the campsites with a handwashing station, that is open year round. There is a single bathroom with flush toilet and sink with running water that is a short walk away (open May-Oct depending on weather) There is an outdoor on-demand hot-water shower at bathroom, with a water hose available as well. On-demand hot water heaters provide hotter water at a low water pressure, and cooler water at full blast. We do provide a large trash bin near the porta potties for trash disposal. DO NOT throw trash into fire pits or burn barrels in the woods. Campsites are a short walk (100-200 feet) away from parking area (you CANNOT drive directly to or park at your campsite). Foster Park is a short bike ride away where you will find greenway trails that run throughout Fort Wayne (ride your bike to downtown!!) Our property backs up to the St Mary's River, bring you kayaks and fishing poles! I had a great experience at The Hollow at Cattail Springs! I was the only one onsite during my time there, so I had the whole place available to me. There was plenty of firewood so the fire stayed hot, I had complete access to the pond, and I had ample time of solitude which I was after. I couldn't recommend booking through Cole enough! He was there waiting for me when I arrived and was like talking to someone I had known for a long time. Thanks for the hospitality!

Weekend Trip to River Camp Fort Wayne

This was my first camping experience and I couldn't have picked a better place. The property is absolutely stunning! I can't wait to return in the summer, but I'm so glad we got to see the fall colors. Such a short walk to the river, which is just gorgeous. The cabin was perfect for us. The wood stove and water system were super easy to use and having a TV was a cherry on top! Lol. There were little touches everywhere of things that were either helpful or just plain charming. My main concern, being a first-timer was safety and that box was definitely checked. It's a perfect spot for a couple, a family with children or a group of college kids. We just left and I can't say enough. Thanks, Marla, for an amazing time!

Our 2nd stay was fantastic like our first! This time it was a bit chilly at night. A efficient space heater was supplied. It kept the tent toasty! We also noticed a update to the fire pit! It worked fabulously for our camp cooking needs as well as enjoyable warm campfire nights. The fall leaves were beautiful and still provided a private camp experience. Love the attention to detail provided by Tim (host). Thankful for great hosts willing to share their property for hipcamp customers!

This is the second time I have stayed at the cabin and both times have been an amazing experience! The amenities offered are amazing! I felt connected to the outdoors while still being able to enjoy the comforts of a clean and well supplied facility! A great way to get away for the weekend without all the hassles of traditional tent camping. A great way to dip your toe into camping before going all out into a tent.

We absolutely loved our 1st glamping stay! All other glamping must live up to this! It will be a high bar. You can tell the host put their love for camping into every detail. Can't wait for our future planned stays! Privacy: Summer: Very private with large trees and green all around. Host: Tim was so responsive to all my messages before during and post stay. Tent: Clean, comfortable. Multiple outlets. I loved having the view of the sky in the tent. Slept very good! Bathroom: Clean, hot water, good water pressure. It's a working bathroom in the middle of a private camp! Outdoor site: All mulch easy to keep clean. Effective fire pit and cook surface. Plenty of dry wood for use. Loved the hammocks available to hang. Nicely lit for easy use. Multiple electric outlets. 2 pie makers, and grill basket. Must bring: Towels Sheets Pillows Blankets Cookware Bathroom supplies Dish soap Location : Private, not much to do close by. That's a positive to me. We did enjoy a 20 min drive to bike the rivergreen way and enjoy some fantastic BBQ at Soul Pig. Just book it you won't be disappointed!

Looked exactly like the pictures…the lights were on when we arrived as it was already dark and lit up. The directions were clear and the site was easy to find. Every detail was taken into careful consideration. Bug spray, hammocks, seating, nightstands, a/c (which we didn’t need!) it was super cute and cozy! Loved having a fully functional bathroom. We will definitely return if we are ever back in the area. Thank you! Oh, and we absolutely loved the Firefly Coffee Shop. We chose it to stick with the theme of the Hipcamp. Highly recommend!
