Sobremesa Farm

We saw the need to be a part of the local food movement by purchasing land and bringing the land back to a state that was better than how we found it via permaculture practices. The land consists of: 9acres of forest, pastures, two ponds, orchards, hoop house, tropical greenhouse, relocated English threshing barn from 1850, market gardens, chickens, guineas, goats ( 2018), bees, stocked pond, extensive fencing, walk-in cooler, cellar, permaculture design layout, on site farm market on Sundays 11-6.Learn more about this land:Can host a few camp sites, three , one would be secluded close to pond. No formal trails. There is one electric hookup 220v, hydrant for potable water.   Rural area, farming area, great road to ride bikes on. Seven miles to Indiana University and vibrant downtown area, many ethnic restaurants, art, theatre.

Celtic Glen Farm Stay

11 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents100 acres · Spencer, IN
Celtic Glen is a working, family farm of heritage breed livestock, nestled in an old limestone quarry on the banks of the White River, on one side, and Fall Creek, on another. Learn about regenerative farming with rare breeds on a farm tour, or mining and wetlands restoration on an ecological history tour. Pet and feed the livestock. Fish and bird-watch. Take a yoga class (at times with goats or bunnies) in the center of the stone henge. Have coffee with goats. Eat farm craft meats, eggs, prepared soups, casseroles, and baked goods, or hop into town for a bite. We are across the river from McCormick's Creek State Park (Indiana's first state park with miles of trails, a swimming pool, horseback riding, and lodge) and just two miles north of Spencer, a small town with an excellent brew pub, winery, cafe, and more. Just 12 miles north of the farm is Cataract Falls State Recreation Area. We are only 20 minutes from Bloomington and Indiana University; 45 minutes from Indianapolis Int'l Airport. This is a working farm with lots of livestock, electric fences, and working dogs, so please leave the farm animals alone unless someone from the farm is available and present. Dogs must be on a leash in the camping area. Given the above features of a working livestock farm, the quarry ruins, the operative railroad tracks, and the river (not suitable for swimming), children under the age of 18 must be attended by adults at all times. Nearby fun and food: We have posted many events on our farm facebook page @celticglenllc and we are within 2 miles of lots of options: Many events happen on the Spencer town square (including Spencer Pride events); and at the Owen County Fairgrounds which are actually in town along the White River and hosts events such as the White River Poultry Show. Historic Tivoli Theatre with big-screen movies and more just off the square Hilltop Family Restaurant (vintage style family restaurant less than 2 miles north off 231) Owen Valley Winery –good food as well (often free live music) Stable Studios music venue (12 miles from farm) Civilian Brewing Corps Brewpub (family friendly space, amazing food and beer and craft soda) Main Street Coffee and Kitchen –a gorgeous café with breakfast and lunch (including Bivi’s tamales) Millie McGee’s Gosport Diner –amazing comfort food in a charming super-small town just across the river (drive north on 231 then east in 67; 23 E Main St, Gosport; 8 miles from the farm) McCormick’s Creek State Park: Canyon Inn for dining, lots of trails, pool in the summer, horse stables Cataract Falls State Recreation Area just north off 231 –really lovely waterfall (13 miles) Green’s Bluff Nature Preserve (Nature Conservancy; 9 miles from farm) Other locally-owned eating: Babs supermarket and deli, Crossroads 46 Diner, Papi Chulo’s Cantina, Jit’s Thai Bistro on square, Chambers buffet on square, Grand’s Ice Cream, Sweet Valley Ice Cream. Of course, Bloomington is just 20 minutes away with lots to offer. Nightfall Farm

2 sites · Lodging129 acres · Crothersville, IN
We're bringing my family farm back to life. My parents farmed here until the 1980's, but couldn't make a profit with corn and soybeans. My husband, Nate, and I moved home in 2014, and started turning the fields into pastures. Today, we run Nightfall Farm, raise animals with respect, and sell pasture-raised meat locally. Come wander the 125 acres of woods, wetlands, and farm. Check out the animals in our pastures, and walk along the Muscatatuck River. Enjoy a quiet fire. Hear the roar of frogs calling in Spring. Chase fireflies. Behold a family farm coming back to life.

Hoot Owl Hollar

1 site · Lodging1 acre · West Baden Springs, IN
This cabin was built by my husband and I. It has native oak, walnut and maple on the interior walls. We cut the trees ourselves off of the property where we built the cabin. They were then cut and planed by our local Amish. The ceiling is beautiful cedar wood. The exterior and roof are metal. A single heating/cooling unit allows you to control the temperature of the cabin. Inside you will find one room for the bedroom, living room and kitchen. Behind a beautifully handcrafted barn door you will find a second room containing the bathroom and laundry. Kitchen area has a stove and refrigerator as well as a microwave. It is well supplied with dinnerware, cups, glasses, flatware, pots, pans, hand mixer, blender, toaster and several utensils. It has a 55” Roku television for your viewing pleasure. You can relax in one of the 2 swivel rocker recliners or in the bed to watch tv. High speed fiber internet is also available. The queen bed also faces three large windows with a view of the woods. Allowing you to watch the wildlife outside. You may see squirrels, turkey, deer or raccoons and often you will hear a hoot owl or screech owl at dark. The bathroom has a large 60” shower, sink and toilet. This is also where you will find the washer and dryer. Outside you will find a gas grill, a small patio table and a fire pit. Wood and sticks for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows are provided. You can also enjoy the sounds of nature while relaxing by the fire with a good book. There are trees surrounding this property as well as a dry bed. If, there has been a large rain you will see water in it. Please bring your own camping chairs. Our cabin is located just minutes from French Lick and West Baden. Paoli is just a little further away for your shopping, eating and entertainment needs.
