Omar was very kind and came to see us a couple of times to make sure everything was ok. The grounds look great

Great spot! Private sites spread plenty far apart for privacy. As the other reviews mention, Heidi was great and very welcoming, and Tiller the dog was indeed a 100% good boy and visited our site daily just to hang out and get pets - my daughter loved him and all the other animals up at the farm entrance (horses, goats, roosters, the cat guarding the horse stable, etc. It rained like heck our entire first day, but heidi came out to help us tow in the gear and gave us fresh dry firewood to use once the rain let up. She also is an expert on the area and can provide guidance on activities, fishing, etc. Overall it's a nice secluded spot and we have a relaxing and peaceful time for my 5 year old's first camping trip.

My stay here was nice and enjoyable. I have a very tall and large vehicle, so driving through some parts of the site was narrow and I hit some above tree branches, but it was just big enough for me to fit through other than that. If you're coming here with a large vehicle, make sure you're confident with maneuvering it and you'll be fine! The road was well maintained, and I loved the space we had at Site 1. Omar was very kind and welcoming.

Portapotties were clean and had hand sanitizer. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. Well maintained trails and sites, but watch out for ticks and poison ivy along the edges of the sites/trails (at no fault of the hosts, this is just nature y'all). Site E was mostly private with the occasional camper passing by on the hiking trails. We bring our two cats camping, so we prefer more private campgrounds to limit possible negative interactions with dogs. We felt the site was safe/private enough to let our cats roam around the site on leash and took them around the trails for some walks. We were also practicing our camping setup for an upcoming camping music festival, so we had a bit more equipment than typical campers. The site accommodated our extensive setup (2 10x10 canopies). We really enjoyed the property and will be back sometime in the future!

My son and I had a wonderful time camping here. The host Heidi was very friendly and responsive. The camp grounds are on the backside of the property which functions as a horse farm where Heidi holds riding therapy. It was so much fun to see all the horses, and my son even got a riding lesson which he’d never done before. Heidi was so gracious in explaining how her farm works, and also sharing with us the background of all her animals. Many are rescues that she has given a loving and safe environment. We loved seeing the goat being followed around by a couple sheep everywhere, plus chickens where I got some fresh eggs for breakfast. A very friendly dog name Tiller will definitely show up at your campsite for some head scratches throughout your stay. Though there’s no fishing on site, the Illinois river is five minutes away and Heidi shared recommended fishing spots. I’ve never stayed at a place where you can’t drive up to your site, but they had a good system for transporting your gear, and it was super easy with no waiting. There’s maybe 5-6 camping sites on the trails in the woods. They all are pretty private compared to other places I’ve camped. It was nice to have a picnic table, another table, and a couple Adirondack chairs waiting for us. They also had fire starters a couple other helpful things. They delivered firewood to the site in their small tractor very quickly for the same price you’d get elsewhere. 10/10 would recommend

What a cute wooded campground! I loved the little drive through the campground and there was nice private campsite where I stayed, I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Omar for letting me stay and he was very communicative and friendly.

Omar was very responsive. Our original booking at another unrelated hipcamp site was canceled at the last minute, we made a booking with Omar and he was quick to reach out. The camp sites are nice, ours was more private and there are some more open. We noted that there were some that were even good for hammock camping. The location is great with a norwegian inspired grocery store very close by. The camp sites also have some small hiking trails and small creek with running water.

I had such a great experience staying here with two friends of mine. Shortly after we arrived, Omar came around and greeted us and asked us if we had any needs. Our campground felt perfect: in a forest type setting, but not in completely uninhabitable land. It was a splendid place to stay overnight, and we used that space to explore Ottawa and Starved Rock.

My group of 8 people with 3 tents had a great time camping at Angel Creek. We booked site 1 and 10 and had plenty of space for our group. The campsite wasn't crowded and there was plenty of privacy. Omar and Martin were very friendly and the property was nicely maintained. Omar was very responsive to questions and made sure we had a great stay. Would highly recommend Angel Creek to anyone looking for a quick getaway.

Omar's campsite was perfect for a weekend getaway. We booked two sites (1 and 10) which gave us plenty of space for our larger group. Omar was responsive and the property was very well maintained.

It was great, worth the money, and quite secluded compared to other places to camp. There is only one campsite for campers, so you won’t have anyone near you 🙂🙂 Train was actually cool to experience. Horses are a bonus.

I would highly recommend this campsite, it's only an hour from Chicago and has a Walmart and a few restaurants nearby. The sites are spaced fairly far apart that we only saw another camper once. Fire pit was nice and we were able to use a broke down tree for fuel but the Walmart does sell firewood.

Peaceful and enchanting. Very rustic and private. we are in the best part of the Illinois wilderness. Our woods transport you a world away, yet you are just a short walk from your vehicle and a short drive to Starved Rock, numerous parks, lakes, hiking, fishing and boating sites, stores, and restaurants. We have 4 well spaced campsites complete with fire pit, picnic table and a couple of chairs ready for you at your campsite. Rent 1 or rent them all! Just bring your tent or your hammock! Your initial firewood . lighter, trash and recycling cans, and firestarters are brought to your site before you arrive. Our "camp host" Tiller the big lovable doggo will patrol to scatter any trash pandas that might happen by. We keep track of him using GPS, so we know if He is hanging with you around the campfire. When his collar lights up and plays a tune, it's time for him to come home! Please send him on his way - thank you. We are LBGTQ+ and Very Family Friendly. Everyone is welcome here. Message us when you are 30 minutes out, so we can you our tractor to help bring your things to your site. Same at check out. Just let us know 30 mins before you are ready to go and we will help you pack out! Sorry you will not be able to drive your vehicle to your site. This keeps the woods quiet for all of our guests. Each site is just a few hundred feet from the parking area. The magical woods is located along the bridle trails behind our horse farm. Sorry, we do not offer trail rides as we have show horses. However you are welcome to arrange a visit to meet the animals when you arrive. We have horses, a miniature horse, a mule, miniature sheep and a very sweet goat named Hairy. There are about 50 chickens wandering the yard all day and we have 3 dogs and 3 cats that are always around. They are used to other dogs. At night we have a lovely lullaby of owls, night birds, insects and frogs. Sometimes you can even hear sounds from the Illinois River and railway a miles away. Barges, trains (not many) tug boats, and the interesting sounds that come with them. Listen carefully, can you tell them apart?
