The secluded campsite is situated on a high point on Pilot Knob that overlooks the entire valley with 180 degree views to the South, West and North. The tent site is a flat 20'x20' spot next to a Birch tree, fire ring and table; plenty of room for two tents and a car or two. In the foreground is a natural field with small Cedar trees, Scrub Oak, Sumac and prairie grasses where deer often eat and bed. The site is situated on about 25 acres - plenty of space to take a walk through the fields. Further out are natural woods, and in the distance is the entire Mississippi River valley South to Bellevue, IA and North of Dubuque, IA. Sunsets are absolutely breathtaking from this vantage point.

We bought the farmette with much work outside and home interior remodel to complete. We slowly turned the property into our family oasis. We neighbor a pasture with cows. There are free range chickens running around during the day. Geese greet us every evening and morning at the pond...as do the many bullfrogs. Occasionally you'll hear the coyotes, but they keep their distance. The stars shine peacefully and the sunsets are picturesque (most afternoons). The pond is a great place to swim and fish. The hillside is a nice walk for exercise or take the easier route and sit under the great oak tree in the other pasture. Campsites are off the road, behind our main home. You won't find a sign...we keep it simple.
We allow pets at the sites for a $5 per pet/per night. If you would like to bring a pet, please add the Pet Fee which is listed on the Extra during the booking process.
We have firewood available for sale, $5.55/bundle. This is located in the Extra section during the booking process.
Lastly, there is free range chicken eggs available for purchase, $3.50/dozen. This is also located in the Extra section during the booking process.

Fifteen acre livestock farm in NW IL with a creek and pond. We raise sheep, goats, chickens, guineas, peafowl, fancy pheasants, Tom's pet trout, and two ridiculous dogs. If you like nature, and animals, up close, this is the spot.
You can respectfully interact with the livestock, or not, as you choose. We're pretty hands off, but are happy to talk about the animals if you ask.

We had the most peaceful, magical getaway at Pink River Ranch. Very hospitable hosts, convenient access to the site, and of course a dreamy view. We enjoyed our furry greeters Marvin, Loretta and having breakfasts with the cows. Highly recommend!

This is exactly the kind of spot you hope to find when camping in Galena. The land feels almost beyond words. You’re perched on a hill with trees at your back and a sweeping view of the Mississippi Valley in front. The sunsets here rank among the best I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been chasing them for 44 years across the world.
The experience is completely private. A locked gate secures the property, and once I closed it behind me I felt wonderfully alone. There’s a sturdy iron table with chairs, a flat rock, and a great stone fire ring. I set up a hammock between two trees and had a clear view of the valley right from it.
You’re far enough from town to escape Galena’s buzz, but close enough to pop back for firewood or supplies. Darcee was a pleasure to communicate with and very kind about accommodating my changing needs before the trip.
I left feeling deeply grateful and rejuvenated. This place is a true gift.

I loved tent camping at goatland. My daughter and I stayed at the family site. The hosts are literally the best, so sweet, generous with their land and showed us around. We loved hanging out with the sheep and goats as well as the peacocks. We are animal lovers so it was perfect. The kitchen area with fridge/freezer, microwave and washing sink made everything easier. The site was pretty close to the full bathroom as well.
None of the sites are technically “park at your site”. The family site has the closest parking of the 3 and there is a sturdy cart to bring your stuff to and from your car. This is a working farm so expect animal noises and animal poop on the ground. This is right up our alley as we love the farm atmosphere. We also loved that the farm is only an hour away from Galena and surrounding sites so we made that a day trip. Can’t wait to be back!

A little slice of heaven! We had a wonderful experience camping at the Pink River. The wild flowers and river create a picturesque scene. The site felt very private. Quick walk to indoor bathroom and shower was a plus. A bonus was close proximity to town. We walked in for coffee and delicious breakfast sandwich one morning. Britt was a fantastic host! Very responsive and thoughtful. We are already planning our next trip!

We all loved the seclusion and the views of the nearby valley! The stars were so bright! It's close proximity to town and shopping was a huge plus! The only downside were the flies and mosquitos, but a few traps from Walmart solved that issue! Overall we had a great time! I would look forward to staying here again

My BFF and I loved our stay! Hosts were very nice and down to earth, felt like family. A full bathroom, fridge, and kitchen sink are available for you to use while here, making this one of the easiest camping experiences you can have. You do have to walk back and fourth across the grassy fields and through a few gates to use these amenities but it's worth it! Animals we met/saw included goats, sheep, peacocks, dogs, rainbow trout, green frogs, kingbirds, eastern meadowlark, song sparrows, blue jays, vultures, red wing blackbirds, killdeer, ground squirrels and bats! Heard coyotes one night but didn't see them (thankfully). Thanks for letting us enjoy your beautiful farm!

This is a beautiful area with some nice little spaces carved out. The overall property is a little gem - especially with the flowers starting to bloom everywhere. The hosts were quite welcoming - sharing the story of the farm and what is going on in the area since they are at the start of their plans for the place. They were pretty flexible and helped us get pointed in the right direction for area supplies. Amenities and views were as promised. There are a couple of tent sites, one a little more remote than the other. This is the one that is a little more private. A cart is supplied for the walk down the trail. But you are rewarded with a great spot along the stream.

Spent the week tent camping on this beautiful property with my 12yo. Couldn’t have asked for nicer hosts or a more relaxing experience. All the solitude of rustic camping, plus access to clean, private bathroom and kitchen facilities.
We arrived near 11pm after booking last-minute when our normal campsite flooded. Despite the late hour, our hosts greeted us personally and even helped us unload in the dark. The campsite is easily accessible by car and offers even ground for tents. Plenty of dry wood for campfires.
While we planned our original trip for rustic camping, we were pleased to have access to the clean, well-maintained onsite bathroom with tub, as well as the kitchen with microwave and fridge/freezer. Fresh ice from the freezer was a miracle when the heat index reached over 100 over several days! Both are located in a garage outbuilding, so no worries about disturbing the household.
What really sets this place apart, though, is that it is an animal-lover’s paradise. True to the name, you’ll find plenty of goats, but also sheep, peacocks, chickens, guineas, and stunning golden pheasants. The goats are incredibly sweet & love attention.
A creek also winds across the property and the pond teems with huge, beautiful fish; be sure to watch trout feeding time in the evening! Thanks to the spring-fed source, the water was delightfully cool even on the hottest days. We enjoyed wading, swimming, and even snorkeling with the trout.
You can’t go wrong with Goatland!

Brittany’s property exceeded our expectations! We chose to camp outside in the highland meadows and it was absolutely stunning. We were close to the river which made it great for fishing. Their farm animals are a huge plus. You get greeted by their beautiful dogs and cat. The baby goats are so adorable. And we were able to eat fresh eggs from their chicken coup. And not to mention the beautiful highland cows! This was the highlight of our trip. The host of very accommodating and made sure we were good during our stay. You will be very happy if you choose to camp here !

We stayed in the vintage airstream and it was like a dream. You're greeted by the dogs and cats and at night you are delighted by the fireflies. There are many amenities like fully equipped bathrooms, cooking utensils, and electricity. We had a wonderful time. Highly recommended!
