Visitors can arrive by driving to the bottom of Rattlesnake Grade (WA-129), or the bottom of Buford Grade (OR-3). These two curvacious roads are extremely popular rides for motorcyclists and bicyclists nationally. Visitors may also arrive by water (rafts, driftboats, jetboats, kayaks, etc) coming downriver from Oregon, or upriver from the Snake River (WA/ID). Many other unpaved roads will lead guests to our canyon, which creates great opportunities for off-road vehicle adventures! The Grande Ronde River, which drains much of northeast Oregon's Union and Wallowa counties, is fed by snowpack in the Elkhorn Mountains. The Wallowa River, a major tributary to the Grande Ronde, headwaters in the Wallowa Mountains, mostly within the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Twenty-two miles from Boggan's Oasis, the Grande Ronde River flows into the mighty Snake River. The river is surrounded by steep, rugged canyon walls that rise 3000 to 4000 feet above the river level. Dense conifer forests blend into grassy slopes set off by scattered conifer "stringers." Called "The Land of Winding Waters" by Native Americans, the river is home to rainbow trout, dolly varden, whitefish, squawfish, suckers, bass, and steelhead. Rocky Mountain elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, bighorn sheep, bear, bald eagles, and a variety of smaller animals and birds can be seen daily. And yes, there are rattlesnakes! Weekend Trip to Overnight at the Oasis

Cabin was great, Clean, Cozy, and inviting. I do wish they provided a better bbq or cookware, but we had a feeling so came prepared. The host was awesome and did everything she could to make sure we were comfortable. It was a really nice stay! Bogans should carry bait for steelhead as well ;)

Louis and Tia were awesome hosts and the cabin (I was switched to cabin 3) was perfect for what I needed. I was out for a trip to fish the Grande Ronde for fall steelhead. There was plenty of easy access even when towing a trailer/raft to get around to the front of the cabin, as well as "raft parking" where I could leave my rig since it had a trailer. The property is well kept and has a fun vibe. The cabin was cozy and had three beds (two singles and a double). I'd say bring some silverware, cups, kitchenware, etc., if you plan to cook or make coffee. I planned on doing some camp-cooking on the front porch so had those supplies anyways, otherwise the restaurant has everything you'd need. The restaurant was awesome and the crew there was VERY accommodating even when I rolled in five minutes prior to closing to get a burger. In general the vibe is super chill and the folks are super nice. Would I recommend this place to others and will I be back? You can bet on it. Thanks for a great weekend Louis and Tia!

Dreamy place. Smells like pine trees all day. Beautiful views of the Palouse. Its very well set up. Hot water in the faucet and bathoom. The outside sink was a plus. The table is very big, lots of dry firewood, spacious area, lots of parking, sting lights, the owners were very accomodating, flexible and very welcoming. The kids were very loud and they didn't once come over or say anything.

Great little spot - cozy and just what we needed for an overnight near WSU. The owners had everything warmed up for us when we got there, it was so nice to come into a cozy space during the cold month of October. We also got a quick peek at the horses and sheep in the morning which was fun! Thank you for making things cozy.

I hate to leave a good review because I want this place just for myself!!! This Hip Camp is absolutely incredible! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beautiful views. On top of the scenery, the amenities were fantastic. The grounds were clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully laid out. The bathroom and shower were spotless, the site was spacious, and it was clear the host really cares about keeping everything in top condition. The hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating, going out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. Their warmth and attention to detail made the experience even more special. It’s rare to find a place that combines natural beauty with such comfort and convenience, but this spot has it all. We left feeling refreshed and can’t wait to come back — highly recommend to anyone looking for a camping experience that’s both stunning and stress-free!

This site has nice pine trees, which contribute to privacy and a feeling of being in the woods. We easily backed our 30’ fifth wheel into this spacious site. Travis has provided some extremely appreciated amenities, such as a giant picnic table and trash can. This was our second stay here and we greatly enjoyed sitting under the awning eating dinner, listening to the sound of the drizzling rain and pine cones dropping to the ground.

We stayed at Crooks Lookout for the second time, and it was just as wonderful as our first visit. Travis keeps the campsite extremely well maintained, and the setting is peaceful and quiet with plenty of privacy—exactly what we were looking for. His dog, Mater, greeted us warmly and stopped by to visit during our stay, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We also had the pleasure of meeting Travis himself; he’s a genuinely generous and welcoming host. Everything about our stay was top notch, and we’re already looking forward to coming back again!

was an amazing stay! Travis was super nice and even brought us fresh veggies from their garden when he came up to introduce himself. His pup was the sweetest and gave us a warm welcome too. The shower and toilet were such a luxury to have after days of camping and driving. The spot itself is peaceful, with beautiful views, and you can tell Travis has put a lot of thought into making it comfortable while still feeling like real camping. We’d definitely come back!

Perfect! Beautiful location, friendly host, and very well designed glamping amenities! We had the most easy-going camping experience, and will definitely be back! We arrived late, and were welcomed by lovely patio lights — made it easy to unpack and setup camp in! The kitchen sink & counter, flushing toilet and hot shower made our whole stay luxurious and easy. Even a garbage can was provided, so we didn’t have to pack our own bags and pack it out. A huge, beautiful picnic table with a view, a fire pit and firewood… this spot made camping simple, easy and beautiful. This was a luxury camp-style. The highway is right next to camp, but it was pretty quiet at night. I always wear ear plugs, and slept fine. My family slept fine without them, but for light sleepers it might be a good idea to pack some.

Nice and clean. AC works well and it was quite hot. The emu was fun. If youbarrive after dark, habe a flashlight to navigate the stairs. The solar lights are fun but they arent on tue stairs. Restaurant may close early.
